David Nikithser
(project manager from Hightstown, NJ); $18,799 |
|
Dena Martin
(underwriter from Pasadena, CA) |
|
Louis Rice
(university fundraiser from Decatur, GA) |
David bet small to get to
podium #1 today. How long can he last? Can Louis raise
some funds for himself?
David starts with $200
Martial Arts. Right before we hear a story about the
origins of drunken boxing, David takes the lead, $3800
to Dena and Louis' $400 a pop.
David finds the Daily
Double under $800 Female Firsts. He bets $1200 on this:
in 1995 Roberta Cooper Ramo, an Albuquerque attorney,
became the first woman president of this organization.
"What's the American Bar Association?" Right for $8000!
And he won't stop there, as he leads, $9400 to Louis'
$1800. Dena, $200 under, starts Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400 "Par" for
the Course. Last two categories in play are Old American
History and A Round of Gulf. First Daily Double: Old
American History for $2000. Louis bets $6000 on this:
Daniel Shays in 1787, like John Brown in 1859, tried to
capture one of these storage places. "What's a depot?"
Nope, it's an arsenal, leaving him with $7000. Dena gets
the last clue under $2000 A Round of Gulf, but first, a
correction benefiting Louis, as he gains from his
previous Daily Double loss with $19,000. Dena bets half
the level on the gulf of Prince Edward Island. "Who is
St. Edward?" Nope, St. Lawrence puts Dena at $3200,
while Louis and David are in a dead heat with $19,000
and $19,400 respectively.
Final Jeopardy! in "Business Firsts":
on July 20, 1903 this company delivered its first
product, purchased by a respected Detroiter. Correct
question: What is Ford?
Louis hopes that David
gets it wrong... He didn't. David wins this one with
$26,000, giving him, $44,799 for two days. |
