Chris Knight
(copywriter from Birmingham, AL) |
|
John Perez
(Air Force officer originally from Chicago) |
Contrary to the name,
Peter Brady isn't playing today.
Theresa starts with $200
Jepoetry. She starts out in good shape with $3800 going
into the TV time out, but so does John, with $3400.
Chris has $1400.
Theresa finds the Daily
Double under $800 The Votes Are In. She bets $1800 on
this: This man won a record 1-election total of 525
Electoral College votes for president. "Who is George
Washington?" I don't think there were that many votes to
begin with then. It was Ronald Reagan, dropping her to
$2400. She ends the round in second, $2800 for her. John
has the lead with $4600, while Chris, with $2200, starts
Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400
Tunnels. Chris finds the first
Daily Double under $1600 What's Up, Doctrine?. He bets $3000
on this: the Petrine Doctrine says that the men in this
job are carrying on the work of its first holder. "What is a
pope?" Right for $7200. John comes up with the
second under $1200 Traditional Eastern Medicine. He bets
$1000 on the lines connecting acupuncture points. "What
are meridians?" Got it under the wire for $12,000! He
ends with $14,000, while Chris has close behind with
$10,800, and Theresa is in third with $8400.
Final Jeopardy! in "19th Century Literature":
"I thought I would sail about a little and see the
watery part of the world", says this narrator. Correct
question: Who is Ishmael?
All three are right, but
Chris outbids John for the win with $20,800. Theresa
leaves with $20,600. |

Host: Bob Barker |

We're getting down to the
wire as we welcome Angela Rudda, Adrienne Allen, Wayne
McIntyre Jr., and Timothy Cundiff to Contestants' Row to
bid on a shed. It's worth $1269, and it goes to Timothy,
but can he win a trip to the Barbados? The game is Flip
Flop, but the price ain't $3602. He flops to $3620...
Should've flipped. It was $6302.
Lindsey Lee is down and up
thanks to a $799 area rug. She gets a shot at a
Chevrolet HHR in Lucky Seven. The first number: 1. She
goes with 7 first... 8. That's a dollar. Next, 5... 4.
That's another dollar. Next, 6... 7. That's another
dollar. One more with the 5... 8! That's three, and one
for the car, and she's a winner!
Wayne is ready to Race
after winning a $1299 elliptical trainer. The prizes:
two banjos, a racecar bed, a popcorn cart, and an
electric fireplace. The prices: $599, $1148, $2070,
$2948. First placement, $2070, $599, $1148, $2948... Two
right. Next, switching the $2070 and the $1148... That's
four!
But the two winners were
overshadowed in the Showdown round by Timothy. We'll see
him in the Showcase. Meanwhile, Mary Baldwin wins a
$1495 dinette en route to a chance at a Gemcar in
Grocery Game. Her round didn't last as long as she buys
three Tidy Cats kitty litters, each worth $7.37. Doesn't
take much to realize that she's over the $21 limit... by
$1.11.
A washer/dryer goes to
Adrienne for $1923. But what she really wants is a
Pontiac Vibe. The game... That's Too Much! She thinks
$18,941 is Too Much! And That's... not even close. The
car was $20,356; $20,902 was too much.
Last chance for Angela
with a motorscooter. Price: $2424. Winner... John Houk.
Next up, a living room group in Secret X. Free X goes
top left. Second X, won from a $30 humidifier, goes top
right. Third X, won from a $40 drink dispenser, goes
bottom right. We don't want the Secret X on the bottom.
The Secret X.... is.... up top! We have a winner!
John and Mary are tied at
80 in the Showdown, as we head to a spin-off. Mary: 40.
John... 50. He's in the Showcase.
First up, Wanda One-Up
brags about her garden tools, trip to Belgium, and
sailboat. Top winner John keeps it and bids $31,000.
Timothy gets to have fun with the word "hitch"; a
diamond engagement ring, a travel trailer, and a Ford
F150 await. He bids $30,000. Actual price: $34857,
difference of $4857. Actual price of John's Showcase...
$32,229! He wins with $1229 worth of difference and
$38,661 worth in prizes.
Stats: breakeven, $70,769
with two more shows. |

|
Soriano
(Bertha, Arturo, Maria, Rosita, Jose) |
|
Sandoval (Virginia, Rolando, Silvana, Jorge,
Michel); $500 |
The Sandovals took the
last one, but how about this one?
Round 1: an animal that
you can hide in a shoe
(5). Virginia has it... "Un raton." A mouse is #1! They
also come up with a roach. But can the Sorianos steal
with a spider? Yes for 78! Other answers: rat, scorpion.
Round 2: an eye ailment (5).
Arturo: "Ojos rojos." That's red eyes... It counts as
#2, conjunctivitis. Maria gets myopic for #5. Jose gets
blind for #4. Number one is still up there. Is it a
cataract? Yes for 64 for the champs! Other answer:
glaucoma.
Round 3: a World Cup host
country (7). Maria gets #4, Brazil. Number 2: USA! USA!
USA! The current host, Germany, is #3. France is #5.
Maria gets #1, Mexico. Argentina and Italy complete the
sweep for 175.
Double Round: a specific liquid used as a disinfectant (4).
Jorge fires with bleach, #1. Alcohol, oxygenated water,
and cleaner are up there for 264!
Triple Round: if you
could have any of Superman's powers other than flying,
which one would you ask for (4)? Jose wants super
strength for #1. X-ray vision, super speed, and... super
breath? Nope, as the Sorianos take it, 355-264. Other
answer: bulletproof, I bet... no, saving lives.
Dinero Rápido: Bertha and
Jose get three goose eggs. Jose however has a chance to
tack on another $1000 to the $5000 if he scores the
number one in "a material that is bought by the meter".
He says "fabric." It's the number one... But is it worth
50? The survey said.... 51! They got $5000.. plus the
$1000 for all the number ones... That gives them $6000!
What a way to end the week! They'll defend on Monday.
Can't wait.

Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire by Don Harpwood, GSNN

Host: Meredith Vieira |
|
Yesterday, Dave Bosco
(Waterbury, CT) managed to make it up to $25,000, having
used his first 3 lifelines on the way. He now has the
4th lifeline, but will it help him advance further?
Dave wants to spend some of his winnings on his 30th
anniversary with his wife. Isn't that nice?
Specifically, he's hoping for a few days in Vermont,
with another couple. Meredith says she would have
expected something a bit more exotic, but he responds by
saying that he drives a minivan. Um, okay. Anyway, the
game resumes...
[$50,000]
In 1964, the British protectorate Northern Rhodesia
gained its independence to become what country?
A: Zambia
B: Namibia
C: Tanzania
D: Botswana
Dave decides to switch it out. The answer is revealed to
be A, then this pops up...
[$50,000] (Q)
Which of these countries' people usually eat with fork
and spoon, only using chopsticks for noodles?
A: South Korea
B: Thailand
C: Vietnam
D: Japan
Dave goes with A... but it's B! Oh well; he lost
nothing, and he goes home with $25,000!
Next up is Michelle Railsback (Harvard, MA). She's a
college grad, currently working as a hotel clerk. She
does miss college life, though; 3 hours of class a day
instead of 8 hours of work a day. But maybe she could
make a lot of money here in just minutes... With that,
Michelle starts by knowing that 16th-century adventurer
Ferdinand Magellan traveled around the globe on boat.
She gets through the lower tier, then faces this...
[$2,000]
Which of these sitcom titles is an example of a
declarative sentence?
A: Who's the Boss?
B: Everybody Loves Raymond
C: Curb Your Enthusiasm
D: Malcolm in the Middle
Michelle is coming up blank, so she asks the audience.
Both polls favour B (59% of the studio audience; 51% of
the AIM users), so Michelle trusts them... and they're
right! Moving on...
[$4,000]
On the Great Seal of the United States, the eagle holds
in its beak a scroll bearing what Latin phrase?
A: Sic semper tyrannis
B: Annuit coeptis
C: E pluribus unum
D: Novus ordo seclorum
Michelle decides to call her college professor, David
Shulman, and he is pretty sure that it's C. Michelle
goes with that... and it's C! Next question...
[$8,000]
Seen in many still life paintings, a ewer is a
decorative type of what household object?
A: Mirror
B: Candlestick
C: Pitcher
D: Lamp
The 50:50 leaves C and D. Michelle says C... and she's
right! Still going...
[$16,000]
In 2005, what fast food chain bucked health trends by
introducing the 740-calorie Enormous Omelet Sandwich?
A: Wendy's
B: Jack in the Box
C: Dunkin Donuts
D: Burger King
Michelle doesn't know, so she walks with $8,000. Oh, and
it was D.
The next contestant is Rodney Turner (Stockbridge, GA).
He is feeling good at this time, so they get going
immediately, with Rodney knowing that someone who is
requested to "take a chill pill" is being asked to relax
(though they may want to switch to decaf as well). He
secures the $1,000, then after a couple more questions,
this comes up...
[$8,000]
In the "Peanuts" comic strip, what character usually
wears a shirt with vertical stripes on it?
A: Linus
B: Schroeder
C: Peppermint Patty
D: Sally
Rodney thinks he might know, but he asks the audience
just to be sure. The studio audience leans toward C
(49%; 31%), but the AIM users lean towards A (35%; 40%).
Rodney was thinking C, so he goes with that... and he's
right!
That's all for this week. Rodney will be back in the hot
seat on Monday. |
