Josh Kennedy
(bartender from Trenton, NJ); $27,400 |
|
Leigh Hall
(executive assistant from Los Angeles) |
|
David Ono
(medical doctor from Honolulu, HI) |
Josh had to tame a savage
beast to inherit podium #1, but how long can he stay
here?
Josh starts with $200 The
Rolling Stones, finding the Daily Double under $600
Harlem Shuffle. He bets $1600 on this: in 1954 he took
over as minister of the Nation of Islam's Temple Number
7 in Harlem. "Who is Malcolm X?" Right for $4200!
Josh doesn't let up, as
he leads going into the half, $12,600 to Leigh's $3200.
David, with $400, starts Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400
Movies That Are All Wet, finding the first Daily Double
under $1200 European Bodies of Water. After a scoring
change benefiting the champion, he bets $4000 on this:
the Gironde, an estuary formed by a river confluence
near Bordeaux, extends to this bay. "What is the Bay of
Biscay?" Right for $19,800! David "Sh!!"s Josh for the
second Daily Double under $1600. He risks $3000 on this:
this religion's name translates as "The way of divine
power". "What is Shinto?" Right for $7800! He'll end
with $9800, while Leigh ends with $7600. Meanwhile, it's
Josh's game to lose with $27,400.
Final Jeopardy! in "Word Origins": from the
name of a committee created by Gregory XV to spread the
faith, it means info used to spread the faith.
Correct question: What is propaganda?
Josh didn't have to bet
the farm. He didn't, as he returns tomorrow with
$28,200, giving him $55,600 for two days. |

Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire by Don Harpwood, GSNN
Air time: Check listings or

Host: Meredith Vieira |

As we start this week,
Lauren Hinton (Yonkers, NY) sits at $50,000. She is 4
questions away from the million, but she has no
lifelines left. Can she do it?
Lauren has a Bachelor's Degree from Harvard, so she
could have had a high-paying job. But she doesn't. She
chose to become a teacher, which was a dream of hers.
It's good to see that she followed her dream, don't you
think? Anyway, she could really use that money. But
let's see if she can win more...
[$100,000]
Used to measure astronomical distances, a light-year is
equal to approximately how many miles?
A: 600 billion
B: 6 trillion
C: 60 trillion
D: 600 trillion
Unfortunately, Lauren doesn't know, so she walks. She
didn't know that it was B, but at least she's happy with
the $50,000 that she has won!
Next up is Jeff Till (Henderson, NV). He's a waiter, or
as he prefers to call himself, a "guest satisfaction
agent". Interesting way to put it, I guess. Anyway, Jeff
starts by knowing that in a 1956 hit single, Elvis
Presley sings "you ain't nothing but a hound dog". He
sweeps the lower tier, and he continues to sweep through
his stack, as he goes into this...
[$25,000]
What element makes up about 70 percent of the mass of
the sun?
A: Oxygen
B: Helium
C: Carbon
D: Hydrogen
The 50:50 leaves A and D. Jeff is pretty sure that it's
D... and he has $25,000! On to the upper tier...
[$50,000]
Originally made in Canada, canola is a vegetable oil
made from what crop?
A: Linseed
B: Buckwheat
C: Rapeseed
D: Groundnut
Jeff decides to ask the audience, and while the studio
audience favours A (48% of the studio audience; 31% of
the AIM users), in the AIM poll, A is tied with B (25%;
31%). Despite the results, Jeff decides to switch the
question. Turns out that it was actually C (20%; 20%).
Anyway, here's what gets subbed in...
[$50,000] (Q)
The lambada is a spirited ballroom dance that originated
in what country?
A: Mexico
B: Argentina
C: Spain
D: Brazil
Jeff calls his brother, Bruce, and his first instinct is
D, but he doesn't really know. Jeff was thinking between
B and D, so he says D... and he's right! Still going...
[$100,000]
Which of these popular sayings is believed to come from
the O. Henry story "Schools and Schools"?
A: It takes two to tango
B: Curiosity killed the cat
C: The buck stops here
D: Cry me a river
Jeff decides to go for it, and he says A... but it's B!
Darn. Well, I could use one or two of those sayings
here, but I'll instead just say that at least Jeff is
heading home $25,000 richer!
Now taking a shot at the money is Michael Heel
(Rochester, NY). He describes himself as "part Einstein,
part Homer Simpson". That's because he likes trivia, as
well as doughnuts. Interesting. Also, he has waited for
34 years to get on a game show. Well, now he's finally
on one! With that, Michael starts by knowing that each
movie in the "Star Wars" series takes place "a long time
ago, in a galaxy far, far away" (though it could have
been interesting for it to happen somewhere in Jersey).
Soon after, he secures the $1,000.
That's it for today. Michael will be back in the hot
seat tomorrow. |
