Flea Market Flip Season Finale
by Chico Alexander

HGTV: Friday 9p/8C
Host: Lara Spencer
In HD Where AvailableOfficial Website
SPOILER ALERT: Our final flip of the season is going to come down to FIVE dollars.

Jyl & Michael
BFFs since high school
Rachel & Blair
newlyweds

Today's episode takes us to the Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena, where two teams will try and turn trash into treasure into $5000.

FLIP LIST:
- Dining Project
- Retro Chic
- Green Design

We have $500. We have an hour. Rachel & Blair get a vintage cane-back chair, a cabinet-to-wine-bar project, and a head & footboard... that can double as a bench. Jyl & Michael want to turn a desk into a buffet, wooden crates into an art piece, and a settee into a respectable looking settee.

The next day, we're back at the Rose Bowl to flip our wares for a $5000 check.

The buffet goes for $290 (profit of $140) early. The bench goes for $250 (profit of $100). The settee goes for $200 (profit: $130). The wine bar... hard bargain, but it goes for $175 (profit: $130). The William & Mary chair... $140 (profit: $70). So far, it's $300 to $270 in favor of the newlyweds. The art piece needs to make a profit of more than $30. It goes for... $75 for a $25 profit.

Final score for $5000... $300 to $295. By FIVE DOLLARS, your winners... RACHEL & BLAIR!

That's the season. Now spend your summer thrifting.

Matt's hoping to end the week as a champion.

CHAMPION
Matt Noble

orig. Mobile, AL
math professor

$12,390
John Kimball
Parkville, MO
software consultant
Eric Maitland
San Diego
telecommunications supply attendant

Matt starts with $200 "U" Know It. John finds the Daily Double under $800 Having Fun Around the World. He's going for it on this: visiting the "Anne of Green Gables" house in this smallest Canadian province. "What is Prince Edward Island?" FOR THE DOUBLER, $2000! He ends up with $7000 to $5400. Eric has $4800 and the first pick of the Double Jeopardy! round...

... but first, a score correction gives him $5200. Now he picks $400 TV Time, finding the first Daily Double under $1200 Authors: Born & Died. He bets $3000 on this: born in 1917 in England; died in 2008 (not 2001) in Sri Lanka. "Who is Clarke?" Arthur C. Clarke is right for $13,000. Eric finds the other under $1600 Violin Music. He fronts $2500 on this: this style of violin playing with short strokes of the bow follows "Hora" in the title of a famous piece. "What is staccato?" YES! He's up to $18,300. He ends with $20,300 to Matt's $14,200. John has $12,600.

If you're reading this and you've been a player at the Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions, go to Jeopardy.com now and update your contact information. "Jeopardy! may have plans for you." That's all Alex is saying right now.

Final Jeopardy! in "The United Nations": of nations in the World Almanac, 3 are not UN members: Taiwan, Vatican City & this European one that gained independence in 2008. Correct response: who is Kosovo?

Everyone's right. Eric wins $28,401. Matt leaves with $14,390.

Welcome to the Father's Day show. Today, we salute all the men out there who not only gave the world a child, but raised that child to be a productive member of society. To them we say... Thank you.

We kick it off with Jacques & Jarrett Rogers, John Minnihan & Lisa Childs, John & Kyle Herris, Ross & Natalie McCright, and a power tool kit. The $2990 tools go to Ross & Natalie, who get to play for a $1800 grill and a $2799 ATV. But these are bargain prices, because this is Bargain Game. They pick the grill as the higher markdown. The ATV... $3599. The grill.. $2800. A thousand beats $800 for the win.

John & Lisa get an $800 pair of HDTVs. Will they get a camcorder with camera.... or a Chrysler 200LX? Let's play Any Number. First number in the car: 2. 2... Pig. 5... CAR! 7... 4... 3... is the price of the cameras. The car was $20,956.

Carlos & Jasmine Santiago gets a $906 pair of iPads. They'll get all the apps they want for $50,000. It's PLINKO TIME! With chips from Drew, a $25 corndog maker, and a $30 popcorn bowl, the Santiagos win... $2100... and a spot in the Showcase thanks to a Showdown Spin-off win.

Eduardo & Nicole Hernandez take a $1195 men's watch. They'll try to time their Freeze Frame just right for a trip to St. Thomas. They stop at $8939. Actual price... $6248.

James & Katie Schmidt pick up a $2598 pair of paddleboards. James was on the show 28 years ago. Katie... wasn't. Hopefully his expertise will come in handy as they play for a home gym, a MacPro, a pool table, and a mini-fridge. The Danger Price: $3618. (C-NOTE: Whatever you do, DON'T PICK THE MAC). Mini-fridge... $1050. Mac... $3618 (C-NOTE: I asked you to do one thing... ONE THING!).

Last chance for Jacques & Jarrett to get on stage and meet Conner's dad. It comes with a satellite radio. The price: $719. The winners... JACQUES & JARRETT! For their perseverance, a chance at a Hyundai Elantra in Pass the Buck. They get the full ride of three. First pick is #6... $3000. Second is #4... LOSE EVERYTHING. Final pick.. #2... $1000. The car was behind #3.

The Schmidts face off against the Santiagos in the Showcase. First up, a trip to the 2013 NASCAR Whelan All-American Series with $1000 from Rocketfizz and a Toyota Tacoma 4x2. Top winners the Santiagos pass, and the Schmidts bid $22,000. The Santiagos get the ultimate man-cave Showcase with a 70" 3DTV, a home theatre system, and a ski boat. They bid $23,922. Actual price: $30,406, a difference of $6484. Actual price of the Schmidts' Showcase... $27,760! They win with a difference of $5760! And for Katie's dad, the Price is lovelier the second time around as he collects $30,358!

Finally, a wish for a very happy Father's Day... From Charlie Alexander's kid.
