Today is

Jeopardy! by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time:  Check listings or jeopardy.com
Host: Alex Trebek
Brian Lamb (middle school teacher from Bakersfield, CA); $20,000
Nissan Cohen (consultant from Lewisville, CO)
Liana Garcia (insurance executive from Gilbert, AZ)

Brian's going to hope that he doesn't get run over by a Nissan today. But first, a happy 85th to Lucille, grandmother of Emily and Matthew Trebek... and mother of Alex.

Brian starts with $200 Sitcombos. Nissan finds the Daily Double under $1000 "I" Mean It. He bets all of his $600 rather than the max of $1000 on the Latin for "it", 1/3 of your psyche. "What is the id?" He's got $1200 to tie with Brian for second.

After a category on robots and yet another clue having to do with the Peloponnesian War, we find that Brian has the lead with $4600 to Liana's $3800. Meanwhile, Nissan, still in it with $3600, starts Double Jeopardy!...

... with $400 Awards & Honors. Brian finds the first Daily Double under $800 4-Letter Words. He fronts $2800 on this: the female of the species Equus caballus. "What is mare?" Right for $8600! Nissan, not one to watch Brian run away with this, finds the second Daily Double under $2000 Veracruzin'. He bets $2400 on this: one of the 2 decades when Veracruz was occupied by American troops. "What is the 1910s?" The 1840s are the other for $10,800! He drops at bit to $9600. Liana is still in it with $900. Brian in the lead with $10,600. It's anyone's game.

Final Jeopardy! in "Poets": she wrote, "from her beacon-hand clows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command the air-bridged harbor". Correct question: Who was Emma Lazarus?

Liana is right, Nissan is wrong. Brian doesn't look happy... but that's okay, because he's the winner with the right response and $19,201 for today, and $39,201 for two days.

Lingo by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time:  7:30p ET/6:30p CT on GSN
Host: Chuck Woolery & Shandi Finnessey
Best friends April (mom) & Jasmine (HR assistant)
UC Irvine students/roomies Carl & Doug
BONUS LINGO JACKPOT: $17,000

Put another $1000 in the jackpot, Mr. Gurin.

April & Jasmine start the party with an F. Carl & Doug take the F for a FILET (Shandigram: contrary to popular belief, it's Middle English, not French). They follow with CAMEO, VERSE, and a red stopper. They get the draw back with NEEDY and Lingo for 150.

April & Jasmine get an E, but Carl & Doug steal, and draws ENSUE. They follow with TWEED, and we play the wrong sound effect to end the round with the guys up, 200-0.

April & Jasmine start round 2 with an L. They convert to LEARN to avoid the donut for 50! Carl & Doug steal it again with TEMPT. April & Jasmine return the favor with DROOL. Carl & Doug finish it with RHYME and the Lingo for the gamewinner, 400-100!

With three Bonus Lingo letters, Carl & Doug get ULCER, CUBIC, SMOCK, GOODY, and RADIO for $500. Theirs to keep no matter what happens, but not they have five draws to turn that into $5000 (or maybe $17,000 if they draw double-4s first). Carls' got it.. It's.... 54. Four more shots at five large. And there it is on the second draws.

Next time, who wants $18,000?

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire by Don Harpwood, GSNN

Air time:  Check listings or millionairetv.com
Host: Meredith Vieira
Thank goodness it's Good Friday! Maybe someone today can make it an awesome Friday by winning a lot of money...

First up today is Joanne Platt (Minneapolis, MN). (Second day in a row that we start with someone who's last name is Platt. What are the odds?) She was already in the hot seat in the opening, because unfortunately, she had an accident before coming to the show. She slipped down a flight of stairs and broke her ankle. Ouch. It obviously didn't stop her from being here, though. With that, Joanne starts by knowing that a skunk can shoot its offensive spray up to 10 feet away (the Lancome lady would likely have to be closer). She gets through the lower tier, then after a few more questions, she faces this...

[$16,000]
Because its meaning can evolve over time, what historic text is often referred to as a "living document"?
A: Mayflower Compact
B: U.S. Constitution
C: The Federalist Papers
D: Emancipation Proclamation

Joanne is stumped, so she turns to the audience for help. Both polls show an overwhelming majority saying B (86% of the studio audience; 74% of the AIM users). Naturally, Joanne trusts them... and naturally, they're right! Moving on...

[$25,000]
In 2004, the top three best-selling vehicles in the U.S. were what type of automobile?
A: Minivans
B: Pickup trucks
C: SUVs
D: Sedans

The 50:50 leaves B and C. Joanne was thinking C, but she's still not sure enough. She calls her brother, Joe, but he says B, though he's not positive. With that, Joanne says she's not much of a gambler, so she walks with $16,000. It turns out that her brother was right, though; it was B.

Next up is Vicki Orr (Pasadena, TX). When she got the call that she was going to be here, she ran upstairs to e-mail her daughter, but she tripped going up. She wound up pulling a hamstring. (I'm sensing a theme with today's contestants...) She's fine now, though. Anyway, Vicki starts by knowing that in a well-known children's song, a teapot is described as being "short and stout". She sweeps the lower tier, then soon faces this...

[$4,000]
What world leader's office has the Web site address "www.elysee.fr"?
A: Vladimir Putin
B: Vicente Fox
C: Jacques Chirac
D: Ariel Sharon

Vicki asks the audience, and again, there's an overwhelming majority, this time for C (91%; 51%). Vicki trusts them... and they're right once again! A couple more questions later, and this pops up...

[$25,000]
The 2004 movie "The Terminal" is based on a real person who has lived in an airport in what city since 1988?
A: Paris
B: Berlin
C: London
D: Rome

Vicki decides to call her son's girlfriend, Tiffany, but she doesn't give an answer. Vicki then uses the 50:50, which leaves A and D. She's just not sure, as she originally thought New York until the choices popped up. So, she decides to walk with $16,000, before seeing that the answer was A.

That will do it for this week. Have a happy Easter, and see ya on Monday!
