Kathy Lisiewicz
(project coordinator from Los Angeles); $16,200 |
|
Melissa Ahart
(librarian orig. from Oswego, NY) |
|
Tom Ricketts
(chemical engineer from Halifax, MA) |
Kathy literally walked
into the championship. So who's going to stop her from
doing it again? If anyone?
Kathy starts with $200
Foreign Words & Phrases. Later, Jon tried out his light
saber (C-Note: I WANT ONE!). Back to Foreign Words &
Phrases, where Tom finds the Daily Double under $1000.
He bets it all on this for $2400 or nothing at all:
"Margaritas ante porcos" means this in Latin, not "your
aunt has had too many margaritas." "What is margaritas
before dinners?" Nope, it's "pearls before swine."
After a category of Money
Matters, we find that Melissa has the most matter at
$660 to Tom's $3600. Kathy, at $2600, starts off Double
Jeopardy!...
... with $400 Wearable
Vocabulary. Melissa finds the first Daily Double under
$1200 European Architecture. With a video clue coming,
she bets the level on this: the vault of Rome's Il Gesu,
built in the 1500s for this new society, led to fears
that it would cause echoes. "What are the Florentines?"
Nope, it was the Jesuit society, leaving with with
$7400, still leading. Second Daily Double is under $1200
During the Pierce Administration. Kathy bets $1600 on
this for the lead: this act of 1854 named for 2 future
states allowed the new territories to decide the slavery
issue themselves. "What is the Kansas-Nebraska Act?"
She's in the lead with $7400! She ends the round with
less than that, $7000, while it's more or less a match
between Melissa's $10,600 and Tom's $14,800.
Final Jeopardy!
in "US Territories": 5 of the 7 islands that
make up this US territory are of volcanic origin; the
other 2 are coral atolls. Correct question: What is
American Samoa?
No one gets it right, but
Melissa's $400 wager gives her the crown with $10,200.
Kathy leaves with $17,200. |

of Fortune by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Hosts: Pat Sajak & Vanna White |
|
It's our third day By
the Sea on Wheel, and it begins with this Tossup, a
Phrase worth $1000. Claudia Sodul, a learning
specialist at USC from UCLA, solves EASIER SAID THAN
DONE for $1000. She contends against firefighter
Scott Trythall from Mays Landing, NJ and college
grad Beth Carl from Moore, OK. And Pat needs to cut
back on the questions.
Here's a question...
What's this Fictional Character for $2000? Claudia
gets CURIOUS GEORGE for first spinning rights. But
first, the matter of a prize, a Princess Alaskan
cruise worth $6218! The category: Rock On! Claudia
owns the Wheel until the solve, when she says "Start
Me Up Up the Rolling Stones." Not it. Beth solves
START ME UP BY THE ROLLING STONES for $1650.
Eggland's Best
Jackpot Round is a Prize Puzzle, a Thing. A Prized
Thing. A Thing that is Prized, to Prize the Thing.
Scott picks up the cruise wedge. He also gets a
$3500 spin, but can't capitalize on the H. Beth gets
$1000 from Swarovski. Doesn't happen twice for
Scott, as he's got $7000 from two Ds. Wait. Yes it
does. No G's. Wheel spins back around to Beth as she
solves CARVED WOODEN TIKI MASK for $2700... and a
trip to Fiji! And if you're Wheel Watcher JH27289,
you're going to Fiji! And if you have a Sony Card,
you're going to Fiji with $50,000! If you're Beth,
you have $12,100 and the lead.
Imagine $10,000 in
your conch shell. That's what's at stake in the
Mystery Round, a Person. Beth lands in Mystery
Territory, and gets the option after an S. Will she
risk $2200 on a peek? Yes. Will she like it? No.
Bankrupt. Scott solves EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF THE HIGH
SCHOOL YEARBOOK for $7850.
Tossup time! The
category is In the Kitchen. Beth gets another $3000
from a TOASTER OVEN. She starts up the next round,
Fun & Games. After some regular play, it's time for
the Final Spin... $1300 a consonant. Claudia solves
GRAND SLAM HOME RUN for another $3900, giving her an
all-cash total of $6900.
But it's top winner
Beth going to Bonus Land. Given "Living Thing", the
standard package, DMC and O, we get...
_ _ L L _ R O _
It's not easy being a
BULLFROG, especially after losing out on $25,000.
But still, not a bad haul with $12,100.

Host: Meredith Vieira |

Today, Chris Ford (West
Lafayette, IN) returns to the hot seat after having
reached $100,000 yesterday. He still has a lifeline
available, so he could have a good chance of going
further...
Chris says that he had a lot of trouble sleeping the
night before. Can't blame him, really, considering how
he has done so far. He's finding this whole experience
to be mind-blowing. Well, let's see if he can keep it
going...
[$250,000]
Which of these stars is not among the select few who
have won a Tony, Oscar, Emmy and Grammy?
A: Audrey Hepburn
B: Mel Brooks
C: Marvin Hamlisch
D: Julie Andrews
Chris decides to call his roommate, Darren, but he has
no idea. So, Chris then consider each answer, but can't
figure it out. He takes some time, as he considers going
for it. But after some time, he finally decides to walk,
taking home $100,000! He was considering C, but it
turned out to be D, so it's a good thing he stopped!
Next up is Elyse Weiner (New York, NY). She was watching
what just happened from backstage, and she found it to
be quite exciting. Maybe she'll find it more exciting if
she gets to that point herself. Elyse starts by knowing
that on a clothing label, "M" typically indicates the
size Medium (though some may consider it to be wishful
thinking). She makes it through the lower tier, then
faces this...
[$2,000]
Which of these popular nursery rhymes does not mention
an animal?
A: Hickory Dickory Dock
B: Georgie Porgie
C: Hey Diddle Diddle
D: Old Mother Hubbard
The 50:50 leaves B and D. Those were the two that Elyse
was considering. After some thought, she says B... and
she's right! A couple more questions later, and this one
pops up...
[$16,000]
Named for a trendy neighborhood in Japan, "Harajuku
Lovers" is a fashion line launched in 2005 by what
singer?
A: Beyoncé
B: Madonna
C: Gwen Stefani
D: Jennifer Lopez
Elyse asks the audience, and both polls favour C (78% of
the studio audience; 58% of the AIM users). Elyse trusts
them... and they're right! Next question...
[$25,000]
Awarded annually since 1962, the Golden Horse Awards are
the "Oscars" for films in what language?
A: French
B: Chinese
C: Hindi
D: Spanish
Elyse decides to call her friend Julie, who is
absolutely sure that it's B. Elyse goes with B... and
she has $25,000! Another question later, and she has
this...
[$100,000]
In 1990, who appeared on the cover of the first issue of
Entertainment Weekly?
A: Fred Savage
B: Patrick Swayze
C: Jimmy Smits
D: k.d. lang
Elyse isn't sure, so she switches the question. The
answer was D, which she wouldn't have said. With that,
here's the replacement...
[$100,000] (Q)
The T.S. Eliot poem "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock"
begins with a quote from what literary work?
A: Paradise Lost
B: The Divine Comedy
C: The Faerie Queene
D: Romeo and Juliet
Once again, Elyse isn't sure, so this time, she walks
with $50,000. Oh, and the answer was B.
That's all for today. We'll see a new player in the hot
seat tomorrow. |
