Burton is decked out luau-style
because one of eight families can win up to $130,000 and a trip to
Hawaii on Family Feud's annual winner-take-all Tournament of
Champions! So far, the pot is at $50,000, and the Rambos await the
winner of this one...

Stewart
(Janet, Tolenia, Raymael, Sharon, Robert) |
|
Abdullah
(Abdullah, Gazi, Farouk, Waleed, Sami) |
|
JACKPOT: $70,000 |
Round 1: something that
could ruin a shopping trip to the mall (5). Janet's
crying child gets #3, while Abdullah's car trouble is
#2. Gazi tries forgetting his credit card (can't we
all?)... It's number one! The guys also get rain, but
this goes to the Stewarts for the steal. "The store's
closed." Not there! The Abdullahs get 81. Other answer:
no parking.
Round 2: people eat
animals; an animal that's been known to eat people (5). Tolenia fires
alligators... number 2! Farouk goes for lions... number
1! Bears, tigers, and sharks, oh my! The Abdullahs sweep
for 166.
Double Round: a kind of
workman everyone complains about (full board). Farouk
gets #2, a construction worker. Abdullah gets #3, a
trashman. Gazi gets #1, a plumber. It goes to the
Stewarts, and they go with lawn "manicurists"... That's
landscapers. Not there! The Abdullahs get 274! Other
answers: TV repair person, mail carrier, police officer
(said!)
Triple Round: the most
important feature of an attractive face (4). The eyes
have it as Sharon gets number one. We have smile.. the
nose... and the cheeks give the Stewarts 288. No one has
three, so we go to...
Sudden Death: a reason
your car insurance rates go up. That's Sami. "Tickets!"
[X]. Robert? "Accident." That does it. Stewarts win,
522-274.
Janet only gets 59 in her
half of Fast Money, leaving Tolenia to do most of the
grunt work. She gets the number one in "something men
keep in the medicine cabinet" (shaving cream) and
"besides Fred, something associated with the
Flintstones" (Barney), but it isn't enough. Only $70,000
and a Hawaiian holiday in the pot. Tomorrow, it's the
Rambos and the Stewarts for the championship! |

Jared Poppel
(consultant from Bellevue, WA); $19,200 |
|
Pinki Mishra
(consultant from Philadelphia) |
|
Paul Callaway
(software developer from Chicago) |
We had a blast with the
teens, but now it's back to the grown folk...
Jared starts the battle
of the consultants with $200 College "N" Shots, but
after a very fast start, it's Paul in the lead at the TV
time out with $2800 to Pinki's $2400. Jared, not too far
behind, with $1800.
Paul, with $5200, finds
the Daily Double under $800 Tour de Lance. With a $1200
from second-place Jared, he bets $4000 on the two
mountain ranges Lance raced through during the Tour de
France. "What are the Alps and the Pyrenees?" Right for
$9200. He leads going to the half with $10,200 to
Jared's $6200. Pinki, at $2600, starts Double
Jeopardy!...
... with $400 Must "T" TV.
Last two categories in play are US Cities and Commies.
Pinki finds the first Daily Double under $800 US Cities.
She wagers $2500 on this: because malaria was still
common in the south, the Communicable Disease Center was
established in this city in 1946. "What is
Atlanta?" Right on for $8300, but still a ways away from
the lead. Pinki also finds the Daily Double under $1200.
She has a chance now to move into second (which, in
wagering, she opts not to take) as she bids $2900. The
clue: he left Vietnam for Europe in 1911 & was a
founding member of the French Communist Party. "... Not
coming to me." It was Ho Chi Minh, sending Pinki down to
$4200. She ends with that much, while Jared takes the
lead from Paul with a runaway performance at $20,200.
Paul now has $13,800.
Final Jeopardy!
in "World Leaders": the first Prime Minister
of his country to be born in that land, he was
assassinated in 1995. Correct question: Who was Yitzhak
Rabin?
The three either gave
Gandhi (Jared and Pinki) or blanked out (Paul), but Paul
only lost $500 to win the game with $13,300. Jared
leaves with $21,200. |

The
Price is Right by Chico Alexander, GSNN
Air time: 11a ET/10a CT on CBS
(markets may vary)
Host: Bob Barker |
|
|
Maddison Hewitt, Laura
Campbell, Kyle Ritsema, and Stephen Parry start the
party off with a day sailer worth $2895. Maddison wins
it, as she gets a shot at a pair of off-road motorcycles
worth $4188. The game is bonus game, and here are the
bonus prizes... a mini-washer marked at $50, a
candlestick telephone marked $100, a toaster marked at
$70, and a CD rack marked $20. She goes higher, lower,
lower, higher, and only controls the mini-washer, the
telephone, and the CD rack. But which window contains
the bonus? It's... the mini-washer!
Corazon Cagungun is down and
up thanks to a $1044 butcher block table. She's off by
only $44, but that's Pocket Change compared to this
Pontiac Grand Prix! Speaking of Pocket Change, Bob gives
her a quarter to buy the car, but the price is jacked up
to $1 after missing three times. The price: $23,816. In
the first pocket: another quarter. In the second...
another quarter. In the third... 50 cents! She wins the
car!
Laura wins a $675
Playstation 2 package (12 games, two controllers, two
memory cards and an Eye Toy). Now she tries for an HDTV
and armoire playing the new Balance Game. We have $487,
$1000, $2000, and $3000. Bob gives her $487... and he
likes the sound effect so much, he does it again. She
goes for $1000 and $3000. And she's... too light. Price:
$5487.
Showdown number one,
Corazon wins $1000 on the Big Wheel, but can't convert
into the $10,000 extra. But she'll be back.
Kyle wins $806 worth of
tailgating equipment, as he now tries for a riding lawn
mower, a round crib, and a pair of electric guitars.
Which is the most expensive? Kyle goes with the guitars.
The lawn mower is $980. The crib is $2369. The guitars
are.... $1748. Darn.
Lindsay Bartow gets an
armoire in round 5, worth $1201, but what he'd really
like is a Chrysler PT Cruiser. The game is Cover Up. The
setup...
7
2 1
6 8 9
4 1 6 3
3 6 0 4 4
1 0 5 7 8
$2 5 4 1 0
The price is NOT $25,410. First try: $16,573... First
three right. Next: $16,589. The nine is right. Finally,
$16,529... RIGHT!
Last chance for the
potentially hapless Stephen. And he takes full advantage
of it, bidding $550 on a $550 wall clock. That gives him
$500 more, and a chance at a trip to Canada if he wins
Pick-a-Pair. The products: Hidden Valley Ranch dressing,
Poligrip strips, Jelly Belly jellybeans, St. Joseph's
Companion aspirin, Udderly Smooth foot cream, and
Westbrae Natural salad beans. He goes for the
dressing... $2.99. Now to the jellybeans... $2.99! He's
a winner!
Another $1000 goes out
the door at the Showcase Showdown after Kyle spins out
the dollar. Bonus:... 75 cents. But still, it's enough
to make it to the Showcase.
First up: a living room
group with carpeting, travel books, and a trip to
Antigua. Top winner Corazon passes to Kyle, who bids
$15,250. Corazon, meanwhile, gets a visit from Felicity
Freeloader, who wants a piece of her $1000, a kitchen
with fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and range, and a Chevy
Equinox. She tags it all at $17,000. Actual price:
$26,939, a difference of $9939. Kyle's actual price:
$16,313. With a difference of $1063, Kyle wins the
Showcase with $18,119 in cash and prizes. But with the
earlier car win, Corazon is today's big winner with
$25,860.
Stats: 4-2, $73,290. |

Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire by Don Harpwood, GSNN
Air time: Check listings or
millionairetv.com
Host: Meredith Vieira |
|
Time to get out a big bowl
of popcorn, and see how much you know about movies!
That's right; it's Million Dollar Movie Week on Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire!
First up this week is Brian Miller (Baldwinsville, NY).
He worked in a video store since he was young, and now,
not only is he a manager at that store, he is also a
movie critic at a local radio station. Sounds like he
should know his stuff about movies, so this should be a
good one. Brian starts by knowing that King Kong is a
gigantic ape (it seems rather cruel to suggest Snow
White before her coffee as a suggestion to be a gigantic
ape). He sweeps the lower tier, as expected, then after
a couple more questions (one of which was accompanied by
a clip from a movie; in the case of the $2,000 question
here, the movie was "Finding Nemo"), he faces this...
[$8,000]
In the 1999 cult film "Office Space," what
malfunctioning piece of office equipment meets an
untimely end?
A: Speakerphone
B: Photocopier
C: Fax machine
D: Printer
The 50:50 leaves B and D. That didn't help, so Brian
calls his friend Rick, and he's 70% sure that it's B.
Brian goes with it... but he's wrong! It's D! Darn.
Well, he does take home $1,000 for his efforts.
Next in the hot seat is Austin Kennedy (Andover, MN). He
once slept in line for 4 days to see a movie. Not
surprisingly, the movie in question was "Star Wars
Episode I: The Phantom Menace." To further prove that
he's a Star Wars fan, when he was young, he once got in
trouble for talking about it too much in school. Yeah.
(At this point, Meredith mentions that every player this
week will get a free 1-year subscription to Netflix, and
each audience member will get a free 3-month
subscription. Isn't that nice of them?) Anyway, Austin
starts by knowing that at the end of "Casablanca," Rick
tells Ilsa, "We'll always have Paris." He gets through
the lower tier, then after a couple more (including a
$4,000 question with a clip from "Young Frankenstein"),
he gets to this...
[$8,000]
Which of these actresses did not appear in the 1997
movie "Soul Food"?
A: Nia Long
B: Regina King
C: Vivica A. Fox
D: Vanessa Williams
The 50:50 leaves B and D. Austin says B... and he's
right! Moving on...
[$16,000]
Bernard Herrmann's score for what Hitchcock movie
features only stringed instruments?
A: Vertigo
B: Psycho
C: The Birds
D: North By Northwest
Austin thinks about it for a bit, as he has the
soundtracks to all but C, but he then decides to call a
fellow film geek, Scott. Scott guesses A. Austin thinks
about it for a bit more, then says he's actually leaning
towards B. He goes against his friend, saying B... and
it's B! He then easily gets $25,000 on a "Pulp Fiction"
question!
There's the horn. Austin will return tomorrow to
hopefully add to that $25,000.
By the way, all week, you can go to www.netflix.com/Millionaire
and enter a sweepstakes, where you can win one of five
20" widescreen LCD TVs (w/built-in DVD player). One of 'em
will be given away each day. Oh, and this contest is for
U.S. residents only. (Darn. Another contest I can't
enter because of where I live.) |
