If you're anything like us, you've
been waiting all series for THIS MATCH. We determine once and for
all who's the better team... the Yankees... or EVIL... Yeah, we're
a little biased. Problem?
LEAD-OFF HOME RUN QUESTION for one
run and control of the board: Who won the 1993 NL Gold Glove Award
at shortstop? That's Billy. "Barry Larkin." ... Good guys on the
board first, it was Jay Bell, then a Pirate. Brian leads, 1-0.
1st Inning: NOT MR. OCTOBER (top 18
active players with most HR without postseason appearance). Billy
draws a blank, and Brian gets the run. Will he go big? Nope. Yanks
up, 2-0.
2nd Inning: RETIRING NUMBERS
(retired #42s & #24s). Brian blanks, and Billy has the option.
Playing it safe, making it a 2-1 ballgame. Ironically, no one said
THE #42 that was retired by ALL teams in honor of Jackie Robinson.
Overthinking will NAIL YOU.
3rd Inning: BETTER THAN McCARVER
(12 Tim McCarver HOF teammates). Billy gets two off of a timeout,
and the Sox take the lead, 3-2.
4th Inning: SWEET LOU'S SLUGGERS
(top 18 players with most HR under Lou Pinella). Brian gets the
run from Junior and A-Rod. We're knotted up at 3.
5th Inning: LEFT OF CENTER (10
BBWAA-elected HOF LFs). Brian took a Red Sox player... but Billy
takes the run. In the middle of the game, the Red Sox lead, 4-3.
6th Inning: GREAT PITCHMEN BESIDES
RON POPEIL (18 pitchers with most wins in NL since start of 1961
OTHER than Greg Maddux). Brian gets the run to pull even. And he's
swinging for the fences. For the 2-run shot in the Big Inning...
Gaylord Perry... John Smoltz... Randy Johnson... not on the board.
Billy still leads it, 4-3.
7th Inning: WHAT A RELIEF! (top 18
pitchers with the most saves in 2011). Billy takes another run and
widens the gap, 5-3.
8th Inning: BREWMASTERS (12 Brewers
to start an All-Star Game). Brian gets the run, and it's a 5-4
game to Boston as we head into...
9TH INNING: Top 20 players with the
MOST GAMES PLAYED IN YANKEES-RED SOX RIVALRY SINCE START OF 1946.
Billy gets the honor, and he opens with 4. Brian knocks it up to
10. Billy lets him have it. Yogi Berra... Mickey Mantle... Carl
Yastrzemski... Ted Williams... Don Mattingly... is wrong!
BOSTON WINS IT, 15-3! Red Sox Foundation gets $5000, and Gordon
and I are getting paper bags with holes cut out of them.
In the nightcap... The final round
of 32 game with the Twinkies and the Tribe.

After a three-run shot in the 7th
on the category of "99 Luftballons" (pennant winning teams since
1999), Craig leads it, 10-1. The 9th: Players with 100+ RBI in
2011. How many of the 17 could YOU name? Jeff says he can name 10
for the win. Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder, Albert Pujols... JUST
MISSED THE LIST at 99. More disappointment for the fine folks of
the most tortured sports city in America, as Craig wins $5000 for
the Twins Community Fund.
And we have your final 16.
Tomorrow, the field begins to narrow toward the quarterfinals. |

David & Gene go for the third time in Fast Money. David redeemed

Ashley Carattini, Julius Nichols,
Kathy Lewis, and Mark Wilson start the Wednesday Price party on
with a smartphone. With a year of service, it's $1460. And
speaking of service, Mark is serviced with a $3300 men's watch, a
$1441 Perspex box of cash money, a $559 convection oven, and a
$550 laptop. Together, they can help this security guard win a
2012 Ford Mustang. But will he try and venture a guess of $23,495
out of sheer... TEMPTATION... or bail with $5850 in swag?
He's going for it! The price.. $23,... 190. Yeah, close the door,
thanks. Kathy gets a $1070
pair of coats, model & announcer not included, and a go at a trip
to Chicago in Pushover. The board: 9 5 1 0 1 2 4 7 3. She pushes
to $5101... She's down with Chi-Town!

$2159. The washer/dryer... $1475. Not enough. The good news, and
yes there is some, she gets to go to the Showcase.
Christian Hill moves on up with
$813 in beach gear. Will he stow it in a 2012 Mini Cooper? Only if
he knows when That's Too Much! He thinks $29,350 is too much. At a
price of $21,450, that's WAY TOO MUCH.
Kristen Quintrall could use a
trailer to put her $1689 fireplace on... actually, that's a bad
idea, but it's on deck in Flip Flop. The board: $5954. She
flops... and she forgets to flip as well.
The clock on the wall says that
time's running short for Julius, who bids on jewelry. The price:
$2560. Winner... JULIUS! He plays for more cash money, $10,000 in
1/2 Off. He gets a $50 Dutch oven, a $12 note holder, a $178 pair
of sunglasses, and an $18 can opener. He's left with 2, 4, 11, and
12. He picks 4... but the money was in 2.
Kristen meats Ashley in the
Showcase. First up, cameras, an African safari, and a pair of
ATVs. Top winner Kristen passes, and Ashley bids $26,400. Kristen
gets a Showcase from "Next Iron Chef" contender Michael Chiarello.
Chef Chiarello offers a range, a kitchen island with cookware &
tools, three cookbooks & chef's jacket, and trips to Napa Valley &
Italy. She bids $22,000. Actual price: $30,843, a difference of
$8843. Ashley's Showcase... $21,747, and Kristen wins the day with
$32,532! |

Jeremy Blais (Matunuck, RI) -
Pharmacist / Lifeguard
He used to be a dancer, and he agrees to "bust a move" if he gets
to Round 2.
He jumps the 4th question, which had $1,000. That's the only
lifeline he needs in Round 1, as he goes on to complete it with a
total of $67,600! After he "busts a move" like he agreed to do,
it's time for Round 2...
[$100,000]
In his autobiography, what media magnate claims he was the USS
Enterprise's radar operator when it tracked John Glenn's space
capsule in 1962?
A: Hugh Hefner
B: Rupert Murdoch
C: Larry Flynt
D: Ted Turner
Since he has no idea, Jeremy uses his second Jump here. The answer
is C.
[$250,000]
In October 2008, the Chicago-based Internet company Groupon sold
its first discount deal, a two-for-one offer on what?
A: Teeth cleanings
B: Pizza
C: Yoga classes
D: Movie tickets
Jeremy feels that the fact that it's based in Chicago is relevant
to this. He thinks about it for a bit, then locks in B... and he's
right!
[$500,000]
In the famous painting "Washington Crossing the Delaware," what
future U.S. President is depicted holding the flag?
A: John Quincy Adams
B: Thomas Jefferson
C: James Monroe
D: James Madison
His buddy, Dave, is a history teacher. Jeremy has a guess, but he
wants to hear from the audience. As one would expect at this
level, the results are fairly close; 38% say B, 28% say A, 17% say
C, and 17% say D. He was thinking D, but he doesn't know why. He
weighs his options for a bit, and in the end, he decides to walk.
The answer is C, and he leaves with $250,000! |
