Who Wants to Be a Millionaire

Host: Meredith Vieira

|
Marnie Hazelton (Freeport, NY) begins the show today ready to
begin Classic Millionaire. She has $40,600 and no lifelines.
[$100,000]
Canada's Simon Fraser University made headlines in 2009 by
introducing what educational innovation?
A: A major in "Everything"
B: A library with no books
C: An all-female football team
D: A grade worse than "F"
Marnie says that if she's thinking innovation, she's thinking B.
She doesn't consider C to be innovative, and she thinks A is more
motivation than innovation. She doesn't see D being innovative
either, so she locks in B... but it's D! (The grade is "FD,"
meaning "failed for academic dishonesty.") Still, Marnie does
leave with $25,000!
Terri Verrette (Cicero, NY)
She needs a new roof; her current roof is 17 years old.
She jumps the 4th question, which had $1,000. She does have
$40,100 when she faces this...
[Q5 - Advice Columns]
For over 50 years, what magazine has run a popular column called
"Can This Marriage Be Saved?"
A: Redbook
B: Ladies' Home Journal
C: Good Housekeeping
D: Family Circle
Though she has read that column, Terri can't remember which
magazine it is in, so she asks the audience. 35% are thinking B,
29% are thinking D, 23% are thinking A, and 13% are thinking C.
Terri was thinking B or C, but given those results, she uses her
second Jump. The answer is B, and she jumps over... $2,000.
She then sees this with $50,100 in her bank...
[Q8 - Talented Guys]
Though he is better known as a political theorist, 17th-century
philosopher John Locke is also credited with creating an early
version of what kids' plaything?
A: Jack-in-the-box
B: Pinwheel
C: Pop-up book
D: Alphabet blocks
Terri doesn't know this, so she walks with $25,050! As for the
answer, it's D.
Patty Gallagher (Las Vegas, NV)
She works in the Lost and Found department at the McCarran
Airport.
She jumps the 1st question, which had $10,000. She then has this
to consider...
[Q2 - The Art of Math]
"One Hundred and Fifty Multicolored Marilyns" is a 1979 Andy
Warhol work that depicts stacks of five Marilyn Monroe heads in
how many columns?
A: 20
B: 30
C: 40
D: 50
Patty wants to know what the audience thinks. 91% did the math,
saying B. She's not a mathematician; nonetheless, she trusts the
91%, and that gets her... $500.
She then jumps the 5th question, which had $1,000. She is up to
$7,600 after 6 questions when the horn goes off; Patty returns
tomorrow! |
