Jeopardy! by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time:  Check listings or jeopardy.com
Host: Alex Trebek
Kevin Marshall (student from Metairie, LA); $56,801, three days
David Grant (freelance communications business consultant from The Bronx, NY)
Michelle Hickman (stay-at-home mom from Shoreline, WA)

How far will Kevin go to join the game's greatest? He starts this game with $200 Let's Go "2" the Movies. Two clues later, Michelle finds the Daily Double under $600. Way too early to do any damage, as she only bets $400 on this: in this 1997 sequel, a cruise ship is going to fast & everyone might get killed. "What is 'Speed 2'?" Right for $1000. She ends the round in third with $3600, while David has $4800, and Kevin, $6400. For you math geeks out there, that's three successive squares of 60, 70, and 80. Michelle gets to pick the first square in Double Jeopardy!...

... which is $400 In a Musical Mood. Kevin finds the first Daily Double under $1200 An "A" in Science. With $12,000, he bets $1000 on the marine snail whose genus name is H-A-L-I-O-T-I-S. "What is a bingo snail?" Well, the good news is he's still in the lead, $11,000. Correct: What is abalone. Final clue also belongs to Kevin, as he bets only $200 on $2000 Old Hampshire. Winchester, the county seal of Hampshire, was the capital of this Western Anglo-Saxon kingdom of England. "What is Essex?" Close, Wessex. He ends regulation with $16,800 to David's $6800. Michelle has $2400.

Final Jeopardy! in "Literary History": Mary Roberts Rinehart's 1930 mystery novel "The Door" turned blaming this character into a cliché. Correct question: Who is the butler?

Big Dave's right, but it doesn't matter, as Kevin, only betting $200 again, wins with $16,600, giving him a four-day total of $73,401. Will he make it to $100,000? Stay tuned...

The Price is Right by Travis Schario, GSNN

Air time:  11a ET/10a CT on CBS (markets may vary)
Host: Bob Barker
What's a five letter word, suffixed with -er, to describe a junk car?  We'll find out as we look into the activities at 7800 this Friday.

Kenna Rasmussen, Stephanie Moeser, Cindy Day, and David Anderson kick things off by bidding on a Comfort Line Spa-In-A-Box.  Stephanie picks it up with a $1450 bid (ARP: $1499), and proceeds to the Big Doors for her game; Danger Price.  The prizes under the octagons today are a 34" HDTV, a Jaclyn Smith Largo writing desk, a set of Cal Pak luggage, and an Arista clock by Bulova.  The Danger Price today: $1999.  Stephanie, claiming she watches all the time, knows nothing of Danger Price.  Bob wants to throw her back, but nothing doing.  She plays on, and nails her first two picks: the $1500 luggage and the $750 clock.  With her last pick, she goes with the TV and hits the Stop Sign at $1999.  Shoulda gone with the $1199 clock.  Letter 1: "C".

Before we get into our next game, we have some birthday business to attend to.  Who's birthday?  Why, our own Rich Fields turns 45 on this day.  With the audience wishing Rich many happy returns, our new contestant Shelley Henwood captures a $750 It's Only Natural carousel horse reproduction.  Her game: Let 'Em Roll for a Chevy Cobalt LS Coupe.  After sweeping thru her three items (Fiji water, Jolly Time, and Airborne), she takes the cubes to the top of the stairs, slightly confused on the rules ("Three cars in five rolls, right?").  Her first roll nets two CARs and $2500.  Still in a fog, she banks the cars and rolls again...this time nailing the rest of her CARs and winning!

Next, David picks up a diamond marriage symbol pendant (iforeverdo.com), valued at $1695.  His shot at prizes comes in the form of Switch? for a Universal home gym and a Chromcraft dinette set.  Gym set to $2537...Dinette at $1499.  He leaves them alone.  Bzzz.  Wrong idea.  Letter 2: "L".

Stephanie makes it thru to the Showcases with 95¢.

We start the 2nd half with Cindy capturing a MediaReady 5000 digital media center, valued at $699, after an overbid.  Her speed-up game: Secret X for a pair of Yamaha TTR 125 LT's worth $5134.  She places the free X in the Bottom Left.  With her only earned X (she won a $50 aromatic diffuser alarm clock), she goes for the diagonal win, placing it in the Top Right.  Secret X...in the dreaded BOTTOM square.  Letter 3: "U".

Seems as if we have another birthday today.  Contestant Jack Terban, freshly called in this act, is 80 on this day.  With the audience again wishing many happy returns, Kenna breaks free from the row with a PGA Tour Collection Highland chandelier from Sea Gull Lighting ($517).  Her swag party: That's Too Much for a Ford Focus ZXWSE.  Nailing the rehearsal cry, we go to the gauntlet...
$10,449?  No.
$11,498.  No.
$13,455?  No.
$14,620 perhaps.  Nuh uh.
$16,582?  THAT'S TOO MUCH!!

Oops.

ARP: $18,095.  Shoulda gone two more to $19,331.  Letter 4: "N".

OK, this is getting ri-donk-ulous.  We gotta have another winner.  Jack, birthday boy, help us out.  He picked up a set of his & her golf clubs, worth $1440, on his way to play 2 For The Price Of 1 for Oneida Frost flatware, and a 6-night trip to Montreal.  Going for the flatware price, the board set:

7 8 9
$ $ $
4 5 0

Getting the second number free (5), he places the entire bottom row in the middle.  Unfortunately the flatware was $750, not $450.  Letter 5: "K".

The answer to the trivia question, and the description of today's Pricing Game Gauntlet:  CLUNK.

However, pre-Showcase, Jack did manage to get $1000 on the Wheel and the spot as Top Winner.

Showcase #1 stars Brandi Sherwood as Lucy the Lounge Lizard.  The prizes offered: a Pulaski bar set, a Sohmer baby grand piano, and a 6-night trip to Melbourne, Australia.  Without hesitation, Jack passes to Stephanie, who bids $13,500.

Showcase #2 contained a Flexsteel Temecula living room with the obligatory Hibernia carpeting, a set of Rocky Mountain Sunscreen sunblock bottles and jugs, and a Hoverjet GT Hovercraft.  Before Bob has any time to ad lib, Jack throws out a bid of $16,000.

Jack's Showcase: $24,713 for a difference of $8713.  Would that be good enough?  Stephanie's Showcase: $30,942 for a difference more than her actual bid ($17,442).  Jack wins the hovercraft, and Bob requests a picture of him riding it.  His total take: $27,153.

STATS: 1/6 (CLUNK); $46,853

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire by Don Harpwood, GSNN

Host: Meredith Vieira
Yesterday, Judy Browne (Coopersburg, PA) got to $2,000, though she had to use a lifeline on the way. How far will she go today?

Judy prepared for the show by reading Snapple lids. Yes, that's what she said. Apparently, one day, when she opened a bottle of Snapple, she saw a fun fact under the lid of the bottle. She then decided to open more, to get more fun facts. Who knows, they might come in handy here. The game resumes, and she soon sees this question...

[$8,000]
The best-selling motivational book "Who Moved My Cheese?" features two practical mice named what?
A: Nibbles and Bits
B: Hem and Haw
C: Push and Pull
D: Sniff and Scurry

The 50:50 leaves A and D. Judy thinks it's D, but decides to call her cousin, Page. But all Page can offer is a guess; that guess being A. With that, Judy goes with her own guess and says D... and she's right! Moving on...

[$16,000]
Gustav Holst's 1916 composition "The Planets" does not reference what planet, because it hadn't been discovered yet?
A: Uranus
B: Pluto
C: Mercury
D: Neptune

Judy doesn't know, so she walks. After finding out that it was B, she gets her check for $8,000.

Next up is Jenny Rose (Medfield, MA). She had a dream about the show, where she made it to a certain amount, which she won't say, at least until she gets there. With that in mind, Jenny starts by knowing that the name of the classic kids' book character who longs for a new life in the world above the sea is the Little Mermaid (I'd hate to hear about a kids' book called "The Little Titanic Passenger"). She sweeps the lower tier, then soon reaches this...

[$4,000]
Lipase is a digestive enzyme used by the body to break down what food component?
A: Starch
B: Fat
C: Protein
D: Fiber

Jenny uses the 50:50, which leaves B and D. She still doesn't know, so she asks the audience. 92% of the studio audience and 71% of the AIM users say B. So, Jenny trusts them... and they're right! Another question later, and this shows up...

[$16,000]
The 2003 album "How The West Was Won" is a collection of vintage live music from what rock band?
A: Pink Floyd
B: Led Zeppelin
C: The Eagles
D: The Who

Jenny decides to call Wendy, who says C, but isn't sure. With that, Jenny chooses to walk with $8,000. Turns out it was B, so it's a good thing she walked. And it looks like we won't get to find out how far she got in her dream, possibly meaning she didn't get that far here.

[BTW, that's the 3rd straight player to walk with $8,000.]

The next player is Windy Waite (Cold Spring, NY). Yes, that's her name. She was actually originally set to be having a baby on the day of this taping, but that happened 4 weeks early, so here she is. And Windy starts by knowing that Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl are mascots of the U.S. Forest Service (though frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if there was such a government agency as the Bureau of Self-Righteous Icons). She soon locks in the $1,000, and soon gets to this question...

[$8,000]
At the 2005 Emmys, Donald Trump donned overalls and a straw hat to sing the theme song to what classic TV series?
A: The Addams Family
B: Green Acres
C: The Beverly Hillbillies
D: Gilligan's Island

Windy remembers seeing it, and says B... and she's right!

That's all for this week. Windy will return to the hot seat on Monday for more.
