"Greatest Moments (1)" - April 9

Get set America... 33 is hopping and there's $1 million of cold-hard FremantleMedia money to be given away. It's time for Janae Diaz, Freda Plaswell, Dena Carmen, and Gary Christenson to COME ON DOWN! And so it is also for Bob, who enters through the audience (you know what THIS means)... First on offer, a spiffy Apple computer... The bids...

Janae Freda Dena Gary
$1850 $2675 $2500 $1

Gary thought someone went over, but the joke's on him, as Freda wins the computer at $3106. As a result, Freda gets to walk the Golden Road with a box of paper clips worth $.72. That could lead to his and hers golf equipment... which could lead to an upright piano... which could lead to the MOST EXPENSIVE PRIZE EVER OFFERED ON THE PRICE IS RIGHT... breaking the budget at over $100,000, it's a new CABIN CRUISER! The golf equipment has $-98 by it. She says the first number is 7... and she's right! The piano is marked $6-85. She goes for 9.... and we're going to the cabin cruiser! The big honking boat is marked at $105,-84. Will she take the 6, 9, 8, or 5? She goes for the 6...

And....

SHE'S GOT A CABIN CRUISER!!!

Replacing her is Charles Brown... as we get a home gym in play.

Janae Charles Dena Gary
$3300 $2500 $2700 $3500

Actual price: $3258. That belongs to Dena as we see yet another amazing prize... a Ford Thunderbird convertible! Her game is One Away, and the price is not $33,721. She tries $42,830. Only four honks, so she changes the 8 to a 6.... and she should've changed the 3 to a 1.

After seeing Bob run from a stark-raving mad woman who won $10,000 in the Grand Game (man, was he quick), we welcome Dorothy Lindeman to the party, as we also welcome Lanisha with a pearl/diamond necklace.

Janae Charles Dorothy Gary
$5000 $4000 $3800 $3500

And no, the model doesn't come with the necklace. But $1000 will, as someone is literally right on the money. It's the player who bid $4000! It's Charles, and he can add $24,000 to that with It's In the Bag. What's in the bag? We have Loctite super glue, Citracal calcium, Oxford index cards, Baker's Joy backing spray, Dole pineapple slices, and Purina Cat Chow. Charles, after hugging Bob matches up as follows...

.69 - index cards
10.97 - calcium
1.79 - super glue
2.69 - pineapple
3.99 - cat food

We have $1000.... We have $2000... We have... a bailout with $2000. Good thing, too, because the pineapple was actually $1.79. So Charles has $2000, and we have a tender moment between Bob and Ethel. "You were chasing me in a hayloft." Very nice, Ethel.

First Showcase Showdown goes to Freda, who spins last (and best) with .95. No big money spin... yet.

Second half starts up with Sharon Taylor, who shared with Bob a moment regarding standing in the parking lot while her parents were on Price in 1972. But it's all about her now with a trip to New York City to bid on.

Janae Sharon Dorothy Gary
$3501 $3800 $3500 $4300

$4025 is the price, and the return trip was worth it for Sharon, who tries to win a GEM car. It'll be hers if she knows whether she's Coming ($9785) or Going ($5879). She's coming... and she's doing it with a GEM car! She gives Bob a kiss... and we give him a kissing montage.

And Rich gives us Chad Vallely. As well as a gas grill and two patio heaters.

Janae Chad Dorothy Gary
$3201 $1050 $3200 $2700

Actual price... $3398! Janae spoils Dorothy as she has a chance to take away... how about a Lincoln LS? She'll drive it outta here if she knows when That's Too Much... And boy was Janae waiting for this. We start at $18,331... and on we go until $34,102... "Go one more!" How about $40,810? "That's too much, Bob!" It's too much alright. Way too much. Should've stopped at $34,102. The car was $33,110.

Another moment, in the guise of an unappreciative Race Game player... and one more player in the guise of Katie Glam. And one more prize in the guise of a pair of ocean kayaks and a canoe.

Katie Chad Dorothy Gary
$3500 $4500 $4600 $1000

Actual price... $2869! Gary lives! The last of the first four has a chance now for a Dodge Ram in a Pushover. The lineup: 272356650. He pushes the 0 off into the hole that leads to nowhere, leaving $35,665... the right price!

And before the second Showdown, we have a Temptation round from year 25 with sailor Noreen winning the whole kit'n'kaboodle!

Now to the Wheel, which goes to Janae, who also scores 95. So no big money spin now, but if we have a Showcase winner...

And speaking of which, it's time for the Showcases! To say that Freda was the top winner ($116,573 so far) would be an understatement. Janae at $3398 is the runner-up. Showcase #1 pays a visit to the TPIR Department of Statistics, where we learn that a) TPIR has run for 6197 shows, b) the crew has consumed 385 gallons of water, and c) the turntable makes half a revolution in 4.7 seconds. So what better Showcase than a) $6197 in cash, b) a new spa, and c) a Ford Saleen Mustang? Nice turntable, by the way. Freda takes it and bids $80,000. Janae gets the models auditioning to be Rockettes. Rachel bows out to sit in a sauna, Natasha would rather model a new Harley Davidson, and Shane, Gaby, and Lanisha have to move their three Dodge Neons, leaving Brandi as the newest Rockette...  Janae bids $41,000, thinking that Freda went over.

We go to Janae first, and the ARP is... $60,259, a difference of $19,259. ARP of Freda's Showcase... $67,334. Which means that Janae wins the Showcase, and one more crack at the Wheel...

Cue the serious lights...

Cue the serious music...

It is time... for... the MILLION... DOLLAR... SPIN, y'all.

A quick blessing, and she's off. We pass the dollar once... It's slowing down... 70... 25... 90... 5... and that's as far as she goes. As Maxwell Smart would say... "Missed it by THAT much."

So the question remains... will ANYONE become an instant millionaire at the turn of the Big Wheel? Nine more people will get that chance next week. Until then, remember to help control the pet population; have your pet spayed or neutered. Chico saying g'night!
