Auditions: Salt Lake/NYC (or "Karl Malone Works for
Fedex")
June 1
The 8th season is off to a good start.
We're about to hit the "Mormon City" and then afterwards, we hit up "The
Big Apple." We're getting closer to making up the finalists for Vegas
Week. Before we do that, we go out to Utah.
SALT LAKE CITY
Capitol Theater
Devon McCouulough & Micah Clark get started first and they're step
dancers, but they step into round 2. However, Devon was through to Vegas
and Micah was gone. Next came Chyna Smith, who's a fanatic of the show
who danced with alums Brandon & Allison. Now you know what it's like to
be a fan. Next came Annie Gratton whose father was a former dance, did a
jump on one leg and a jump into a split. Both are going to Vegas!
Tadd Gadduang...I'm no making this up, does a b-boy dance and the
audience wants him to Vegas. But save that for later. Chase Thomas goes
up and wears....tiny shorts. Eww! Outta here like last year. Samantha
Hillier comes up and she danced for 8 years. Unfortunately, she didn't
advance from round 2 onwards....and amnesia she suffers, too. Brittany
Starr may be a good name, but it's some connection to the Beatles that
don't make sense. She's out, but 9 peple are in. On to NYC!
NEW YORK CITY
Brooklyn
Princess Lockarooo...are we having a theme here?....is doing a style
called "waacking." I don't know what it is, but by the shock of us all,
she goes through to Vegas. Brandon Jones did contemporary and no joke
about, he's off to Vegas. Next came Brian Henry aka Hollw Dreams, who
does krump. Brian thinks there's no anger in the dance, but NIgel sent
him to Round 2. Mary Kate Sheehan does irish tap dancing, but was tapped
out in round 2. A couple of b-boys named Virgil Gadsen and Robert
Taylor, Jr. went to Vegas by showing them what b-boy dancing is all
about, but Jess LaProtto shows what Broadway is, and he, too goes to
Vegas. Round 2 came and Jess partner Kristin Dobson did a leg stretch.
For the judges, it's a no-no, For the rest going to Vegas, it's yes-yes,
and one more city to go tomorrow, so bye-bye for now.
