The Puppet Master
September 17

Deep in the heart of the Pacific Rim lies the island nation of Samoa... and within its many exotic islands is Upolu Island... Today, and every day for the next 39 days, 20 Americans will call this place home. However, only two of them will make it through to the final day, as one after another, they are voted off.

We've been here 18 times before... Thirty nine days... 20 people... ONE ... SURVIVOR!

The tribes this go around are...

FOA FOA GALU
Betsy Bolan; 48; Campton, NH
Mike Borassi; 62; Marina del Rey, CA
Ben Browning; 28; Los Angeles
Marisa Calihan; 26; Cincinnati
Russell Hantz; 36; Dayton, TX
Liz Kim; 33; New York City
Jaison Robinson; 28; Chicago
Ashley Trainer; 22; Maple Grove, MN
Mick Trimming; 33; Los Angeles
Natalie White; 26; Van Buren, AR
Dave Ball; 38; Los Angeles
Erik Cardona; 28; Ontario, CA
Brett Clouser; 23; Los Angeles
John Fincher; 25; Los Angeles
Yasmin Giles; 33; Los Angeles
Laura Morett; 39; Salem, OR
Monica Padilla; 25; San Diego
Kelly Sharbaugh; 25; West Hollywood, CA
Russell Swan; 42; Glenside, PA
Shannon "Shambo" Waters; 45; Renton, WA

Day 1: Follow the leader...

Upon landing in Samoa, Jeff instructs the two tribes to pick leaders without discussion. Galu elects "the better looking Lennox Lewis", Russell. Foa Foa  decides on ... after a tie, Mick. The first decision these leaders will make... Who'll play in...

R-CHALLENGE: And They're Off! (for flint)

Choices for best swimmer.... Mick chooses Jaison, Russell chooses John.

Choices for strongest... Mick chooses Russell, Russell S chooses Erik.

Choices for most agile... Mick chooses Marisa, Russell S chooses Yasmin.

Choices for smartest... Mick chooses Liz, Russell S chooses Shambo.

These are you players for a relay. Swimmer will swim out to get a key. Strongest will unlock two bales of logs. Most agile will use those logs to get up to a balance beam and retrieve a key. Smartie will unlock a daruma puzzle and try to solve it. First tribe to put together their puzzle wins.

Jaison was on the national water polo team and he shows his swimming prowess to come back to the beach first. Russell's the first to the logs. Marisa's first to the balance beam, but Yasmin's making up a lot of time. This is going to be a close one...

Winners: FOA FOA!

Okay, folks... you have a map. Start heading to camp!

At the Foa Foa camp, Mick is trying to sort out the leadership control, while he decides that Ben should take the lead in building camp. Russell, though, didn't come to work... he came to play. And thus, talks of alliances begin early. Ashley, Betsy, Marisa, and Natalie, aka the Dumb Girls, are buying into this idea. Four women who have ZERO knowledge of the deals made from each other. Betsy, the smartest, doesn't trust Russell... at all.

At the Galu camp, Russell S talks building camp. Shambo thought it was pretty cool, but the males are still discussing it and not building anything. John says don't be so quick to spin the wheels. Shambo thinks that John's all talk and no business.

Break time, as the tribe takes a swim, while Shambo.. watches. She thinks that he needs to open up a can of whoopass.

Night 1: And then, Russell lied.

Russell tells his tribe of the story of him living in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina as a fireman who left his German Shepherd Rocky to die in the storm. ALL LIES. Marisa thinks that he's using that story to curry favor, while seeming a little slimy. Meanwhile, Russell decides to make life in camp a little more... INTERESTING... by emptying all the canteens and burning Jaison's socks. "If I can control how they feel, I can control how they think. I'm not here for the money. I'm only here to show people how easy it is to win this game."

That morning, the tribe awakens to no water... and in Jaison's cake, no socks. And life starts to make a turn for the Foa Foa. No sleep, no water, and no peace.

Day 3...

I-CHALLENGE: Calling Triple A

Six members of each tribe will navigate through three A frames while carrying a coil of rope. That rope will be used to carry a crate to a finish platform where the other four will disassemble the crate and use the flats to solve a puzzle: "WITHOUT VICTORY THERE IS NO SURVIVAL". First tribe to solve the puzzle wins the Immunity Spire.

Galu finishes their first legs first... and thanks to Russell pulling the Foa Foa crate, it's a horse race.. But Galu would refuse to give up their lead... and GALU wins Immunity, which means Foa Foa will be heading to Tribal Council tomorrow.

Ashley doesn't know whose fault it was for today's loss. She doesn't want to bring it up, because she'll have a target on her back. Mick and Mike believe that Ashley to be the first person to go due to her being the weakest. Russell meanwhile works on Marisa, who says that she's feeling uncomfortable. The wrong thing to say to the wrong person, as Russell decides that Marisa would be the first to go. Meanwhile, Betsy tells Natalie that she wouldn't trust Russell.

Night 3: TRIBAL COUNCIL

Fire equals life. No fire... No life. Ashley says it is what it is. Mike realizes that this is a dog-eat-dog game and we're all wearing Milk-Bone underwear. Everyone did their best, though Mike says that they were lucky. Liz says that they're only as strong as their weakest link. Betsy thinks Ashley's the weakest link. Ashley says she works out tons at home, and doesn't understand why she's the weakest. Marisa says that she isn't the weakest link. Russell likes everyone... but Marisa. At one point, Russell says that she's starting to become worried about him. Marisa defends that honesty is the best policy in this game. Marisa says that if she did something to put a mark on her back, then that was dumb of her.

... yeah.

Betsy: ASHLEY
Russell: MARISSA (sic) - "If you play with fire, you'll get burned."

And the rest of the vote is...

Marisa: ASHLEY
Mick: ASHLEY
Jaison: MARISA
Liz: MARISA
Ben: MARISA
Ashley: MARISA

That's six. That's enough. Last vote was for Marisa by Natalie, so with a vote of 7-3, MARISA... the tribe has spoken.
