Look
Out Below!
January 2
We're into the new year and these contestants better
look out below as they're ready to find out "Who's Still Standing?".
Tonight's first hero for 2012 is Troy Jennings, a student from Provo, Utah.
In the first round, Troy takes on #3. Charles Aldridge is from Santa Ana,
California, and he's got the Bachelor's degree from Georgetown University and a
Master's in public policy at Pepper dyne.
Moving ahead with this...
The soap that floats OR an elephant's tusk [I-O--]
No Troy, you can't buy a vowel, this isn't Wheel of Fortune. However, you were
correct with Ivory.
Fast forward to this...
What animal has two species: Bactrian and dromedary? [--M--]
Troy doesn't know it and he passes for the first of two times to Charles who is
correct with camel. This next one's also for Troy...
What is the blue part of the American flag called? [-A----]
Troy passes again, but Charles doesn't know the answer either and he's the first
opponent gone. The canton was the correct answer. Troy opens up his bank account
with $10,000.
Going on to round 2, Troy plays against #10. Marcia Hawkins is a graduate
student originally from Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Round 2 is a specialty round,
and the theme for it is "Flavor of the Month" which focuses on the word "month".
Marcia eventually gets this...
Bill Murray keeps reliving February 2nd in what movie? [G--U----G --Y]
It looks like Marcia will be reliving her moment of elimination just like the in
film Groundhog Day as she's out. Two people down and Troy scores 15Gs more for a
new total of $25,000.
It's on to round 3 and Troy goes against #1. Tim Shay is a doctor from
Kalamazoo, Michigan. Fast forward to this...
What low-impact exercise method is named after its German inventor? [----T-S]
With both of his passes used up, Troy couldn't say Pilates although Tim knew it.
Troy becomes the first hero to lose to an opponent and drops out with no money.
And since Tim won against the hero, he gets $10,000.
It's now time for a new game with a new hero. She's Andrea, a college student
from Lexington, MA.
Andrea starts her game by taking on #7. She's former Don't Forget the Lyrics!
contestant Sandra Benton, a singer from Lawndale, NC. We move ahead to this
question...
Who wrote "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde"? [---E-- ---I-
---------]
You can't sing your way out of it this time, it was Robert Louis Stevenson. Out
of the blocks, Andrea scores...$1. What?! That's it! $1?!
Anyways, she moves on two round where her next opponent is #4. Adam Ward is from
Minneapolis, MN, and he owns a gourmet food truck. It's another specialty round
coming up and this one's called "You Go Girl" where it's all about girls. Moving
ahead to this...
First published in 1947, what girl's diary has been translated into over 60
languages? [-N-- ----K]
Andrea uses the first of her three passes. Adam knows that it is Anne Frank.
Adam later gets this...
What New York military academy started admitting girls in 1976? [-E-- ---N-]
Adam only said West, but he was half right, it was West Point. Sorry Adam,
you've been dropped. And that means Andrea scores 50K which gives her a new
total of $50,001 and is now eight drops away from the million.
In the next round, Andrea goes after #5. Krissa Fowles is a bikini model from
Sequim, WA. Moving ahead to this...
Since it secretes a reddish substance, mammal was once thought to sweat blood?
[-I------A--S]
Krissa times out, it was a hippopotamus, and it's goodbye to her. Andrea gets
five grand, raising her total to $55,001. She's has two passes left and is seven
drops away from the million. Andrea already has a decision to make, will she go
on or stop right there. Andrea decides to stop, take the $55,001, and drop
through the floor.
