June 1

Gordon: Welcome to Password Episode #1! It's Password! It's Super Password! It's...MILLION DOLLAR PASSWORD!
Chico: On tonight's show... Rachael Ray & Neil Patrick Harris...
Gordon: Rachael Ray is playing with Josh Jacobs of Ottsville, PA.
Joe: Wait, OUR Josh Jac...no that wouldn't be him, would it?
Gordon: And Neil Patrick Harris is playing with George Michaels in the men's room during the break
Chico: Boo.
Joe: Boo-urns.
Jason: Boo
Gordon: But for now, he's playing with Melanie Pera of Pleasantown, NY

ELIMINATION ROUND

Chico: Celebrities have 30 seconds to convey five Passwords. Then the contestants have 30 seconds to do the same thing. The the celebrities are switched for another two rounds just to keep things nice and fair.
Jason: Power of 10 elimination style.
Chico: Team with the most points after four rounds will play for 1... million... DOLLARS!
Joe: Different words for each team?
Chico: Yep.

11 - WIN

Chico: Winners, 12-11.
Jason: I like that elimination style round.
Chico: I can dig that.
Don: That was cool, I'll admit.
Alex: I beg to differ strongly
Chico: I need a snappy of the title card that isn't obtruded by the WRAL weather crawl.
Gordon: I think Alex Davis and I will once again be of one mind here.
Alex: They tried to modernize it way too much and it's not working
Gordon: It's TOO fast and we don't know what's going on.
Chico: They turned Password into Pyramid... but it's only been 10 minutes, so let's see what happens.
Alex: The entire presentation is way off as well. OK, but here's the thing Chico
Gordon: If anything, it needs to slow down. Maybe even get a commercial break in there.
Alex: We got more gameplay in that first 10 minutes than we get in the entire money round, which is the reason the game exists
Jason: Are you nuts? you complain more than anything that games are too slow...and now the game is TOO FAST?
Gordon: Giving someone a chance to catch their breath is not a bad thing.
Alex: The speed doesn't bug me. The fact that the first 11 minutes have more gameplay than the main game is way off balance to me.
Gordon: There's a fine line between sleep and inducing and...say wha?
Chico: Okay, let's play for Money. Because Melanie earned the most points with Neil, she plays with him. Here with her, her parents... who are going to get all the money she wins. The money ladder...

$1,000,000 - 5 of 5 passwords
$250,000 - 5 of 6 passwords

$50,000 - 5 of 8 passwords
$25,000 - 5 of 9 passwords; SAFETY NET
$10,000 - 5 of 10 passwords

Chico: And of course, $25,000 is a safety net.
Gordon: If you get there.
Jason: 1st level 5-10
Chico: For $10,000, five passwords out of 10. She's given three clues and ONLY three clues. If the password is missed or passed, it's thrown out, never to be seen again.
Alex: You get several attempts at the first levels, mind you, if you don't get it.
Joe: Cashword rules here, isn't it?
Gordon: 5 out of 10. If you can't do that, you don't deserve the money.
Joe: Three clues max per word?
Chico: Cashword rules. And 90 seconds per level.

VERDICT

Jason: Verdict for $25,000! Very nice.
Gordon: That was a struggle
Chico: That had me scared for a moment.
Jason: Yeah. But I like this. I am surprised I like this.
Chico: Which I guess is a sign of a good show... it pulls you in.
Alex: I'm not pulled in, I'm just watching. They are begging for drama and I just don't feel it.
Gordon: I don't like this. There's so much more they could have done with this, and instead it's power of 10 meets password.
Alex: Exactly, thank you.
Chico: A lot of that could be attributed to its producer...
Alex: It could be contributed to a lot more than that.
Chico: Vincent Rubino worked on both shows.
Joe: Keep in mind, friends, that I'm not really commenting on this because I can't actually see it yet.
Gordon: understood, but there's so much history to this show
Jason: I am sorry. I think you and Alex with all due respect...are nuts.
Gordon: And I'm sad to see this be generic.
Alex: How, give me some reasons.
Gordon: No Cashword. No Puzzles. I'm sad.
Alex: Again, I can stand the game if needed. The presentation is awful. It's my same issue I had with Duel.
Chico: Hello. Password started out as generic as it could get
Jason: The presentation works for me. This works for me.
Gordon: You could have easily made this an hour show formatted with the bonus rounds at the end and put tons of gameplay in it. Instead it's just guess words quickly in time. Whoopie.
Chico: Wasn't THAT the bonus round for a while? Ooooh... snap
Joe: The original Lightning Round. The world's FIRST bonus round.
Chico: $50,000, five out of eight..
Gordon: But that was a PART of the game. not the complete game.

Gordon: She gave some awful clues.
Chico: Melanie leaves with $25,000.
Gordon: But it fits nicely into a half hour, eh?
Jason: It does.
Chico: yup. Easily syndicable.
Gordon: which is why we must go 90 mph in the front game. It needs to be a TAD slower
Jason: I would rather go 90 mph than 20mph for the games which we have seen for the past TWO YEARS.
Gordon: It needs to be 65
Alex: Agree.
Gordon: At least give us a recap as to what's going on. Stick that in post
Chico: Just remember those who are quick to bash... it could be a lot worse. One word.... Temptation.
Alex: Oh it could be a lot worse. But it could be a lot better.
Chico: Two new players...
Alex: Again, I'm not completely disappointed by the game play. It's just the entire package to me that's not working.
Jason: Its a lot better than most of the stuff I have seen in the last year.
Gordon: Rachel meets Alexis Black
Chico: Rachael will be playing with Alexis Black, a waitress from Kent, OH.
Alex: Well when your difference is National Bingo Night against Password, that decision's kinda easy, Jason.
Chico: Neil is playing with Eric Greenlund of Providence, RI
Gordon: 'better than most of the stuff I've seen this year' doesn't make a good argument for the merits of this show.

Chico: Don't knock NPH. He's one of us, you know. He's a fanboy.
Gordon: We need to revoke his license
Jason: no we don't lol.
Gordon: Green. Country. Sweden??!!?!?
Chico: Alexis, on the other hand... is a nutjob. E-Roc is playing with Neil in the money round Eric was robbed before the show. Not... DIRECTLY before the show, but he's playing to replace his stuff. We want him to win.
Gordon: And now with Neil, he's about to get robbed during it as well.
Chico: "I feel like I'm in Cats". Level 1 ...
Alex: First time he's said that.

Chico: I say he goes for it and then quits.
Alex: What what what.
Chico: But first, Regis shows him the first five passwords. (Atlantic, pizza, canteen, foil, and corner)
Jason: Are you nuts?
Alex: OK they didn't send me this far to watch, lol
Chico: would you go for it?
Gordon: That's definitely doable
Jason: I could do it.

Gordon: And Neil, when you want to give up your game show license send it to GSNN, care of Gordon and Chico.
Alex: lol.
Jason: And Mark Gentile (who directs everything in NY these days).
Chico: Mark Gentile, one of the best NY has to offer.
Jason: Grade for me - B-. Solid, solid effort. I want to see what Betty white can do.
Alex: I give it a C.  The presentation was off, Regis wasn't really able to be himself and do what he's good at, and I still just do not think the show works at all in a million dollar format.
Chico: Pros.. good solid effort.. Cons: moves way too fast.
Joe: I personally would've liked to have seen the Password Puzzles (from Plus and Super) incorporated into the game.
Gordon: I think it will get better and cleaner. The format does grow on you. That being said, there's a lot of the mythology that they don't touch, and that's a shame.
Don: While I do wish they could have included some elements from Password Plus/Super Password, this show seems alright to me. I'll go with a B-.
Chico: I guess the problem is that in this day and age, when you have to do up everything big like.. something as oversimplified as classic-flavor Password may not go over well.
Alex: And that was my fear with the primetime version
Gordon: There should be the puzzles, the cash word, and Id love to see a returning champion... Where you have to win 6 times, and each level is the amount - 10,000, 25,000, 50,000, etc. So much they could do with this, so little done. C.
Chico: But I was drawn in, and that's usually a good sign. Interesting that you get the classic format as opposed to the 70s/80s formats... And let's not forget that Password in primetime HAS BEEN DONE BEFORE. So it speaks to history and to currency as well... I'll score it a B.
Jason: Lets see how the ratings bear out.
Chico: Yeah. We'll have a better understanding after that. Until next week, for everyone, this is Chico saying... spread the word.
