Miami Qualifier
June 16
Last week, St. Louis brought out the best in the Qualifier Course, giving us the most finishers in ANW history, including only the second woman to finish the course in Michelle Warnky. Now the journey to find the first American Ninja Warrior takes us to South Beach, as veteran and newbie alike prepare to take on the course in...

MIAMI
Bayfront Park

Our players - which include rivals Drew Drechsel and Flip Rodriguez - will take on six obstacles, two of them making their ANW debut.

- Quintuple Steps
- DOWNHILL PIPE DROP: It begins with a Pipe Slider, then goes into a jump for a rope swing.
- DANCING STONES: A fixture on the Japanese Kunoichi (Women of Ninja Warrior) course, it's a run along a series of cylinders, some of them unstable and unpredictable.
- Jump Hang
- Curtain Slider
- Warped Wall - 14 feet, three chances

As before, it's win-and-in. Hit the buzzer atop the Warped Wall, and you are guaranteed a spot in the City Final. First up tonight...

- Jorge Posada (33; Hollywood, FL; fitness trainer - NOT the former NY Yankee): FAIL Downhill Pipe Drop
- Andrea Mulryan (32; Jacksonville, special education teacher): FAIL Dancing Stones
- Shaun Murray (38; Orlando; professional wakeboarder): FAIL Warped Wall

Kate Miller, Aric Lee, Adam Ives, and Andrew Dobson all failed in the fast forward.

- Dr. Desiree Walker (34; Lumberton, NC; dentist): FAIL Downhill Pipe Drop
- Vincente King (24; Loganville, GA; college student): the first known contestant to be diagnosed with autism. FAIL Curtain Slider
- Melanie Hunt (26; Washington, DC; high school English teacher): FAIL Warped Wall
- Kavon Sadler (21; McDonough, GA; animator): COMPLETE! (1:52.84)

Wayne Culpepper failed, but Reko Rivera and Matt "Ninja Baby" Zacharkow made it up the Warped Wall.

- Jonathan Ruiz (29; Valrico, FL; optician): COMPLETE! (2:30.98)
- Robert "Ninja Dad" Logan, Sr. (45; Ayer, MA; security expert): INJURED Warped Wall (Achilles)

The gurney is here to take Rob Sr. to the hospital for further evaluation, but he stopped them so he can see...

- Robert "Ninja Son" Logan, Jr. (23; Ayer, MA; web developer): FAIL Warped Wall

As we enter the second half, Josh Hill fell on the Dancing Stones, but his loss was the gain of Brett Sims (in his fifth try), Stephens Nunnally and Rich Thompson.

- William "The Spartan" Brown (29; Palm Bay, FL; power plant manager): COMPLETE! (1:03.03). That brings the number of finishers to 10.

Make it 13 thanks to rookies Neil Craver, Dustin Craver, and Solomon Harvey.

- Preston Griffall (30; Salt Lake City; US Olympic luger): COMPLETE! (1:48.05)
- Clinton Taylor (31; Franklin, NC; marketing consultant): FAIL Curtain Slider

Veteran Ryan Stratis joined Brandon Arrington and Courtney Venuti at the Wall... but Brandon and Ryan would join Luciano Acuna in the next round.

- Erick Hernandez (33; Sunrise, FL; SWAT team member): FAIL Curtain Slider

Next, the first ever amputee to take to the course...

- Stephen France (32; Yulee, FL; truss builder): FAIL Downhill Pipe Drop
- Todd Bourgeois (31; St. Augustine, FL; physical therapist): COMPLETE! (2:11.92). That brings the list to 20.

And now we've reached the showdown. Flip Rodriguez vs. Drew Drechsel for the top time of the night. But first...  Sean Morris (in his fifth try), Jared "JJ" Woods, and Jonathan Sharp Brown make it 21, 22, and 23. Will Idoko make it 24?

- Idoko Abuh (24; Orlando, musician): COMPLETE! (1:19.24)
- Joyce Shahbox (42; Gainesville, FL; physical therapist): FAIL Curtain Slider

And now, who'll be king of Miami?

- DREW DRECHSEL (25; Houston, ANW trainer): COMPLETE! (:44.24)
- DAVID "FLIP" RODRIGUEZ (25; Miami; stuntman): FAIL Jump Hang... After a slight slip into the water.

And the Miami crowd is STUNNED.

In total, 42 finishes come from the Miami crowd. They will ALL return for the City Final.
