Preliminaries: Penn/Notre Dame/UCLA
November 8
Fifteen undergrads. Fifteen schools. In
the end, there can only be but one. On the line in this fortnight of
intellectual fortitude, $100,000... bragging rights as the 2011 College
Champion... and a place in the 2011 Tournament of Champions.
Second place is guaranteed $50,000, while
third will get $25,000 in a standard two-week event. Semifinalists are
guaranteed at least $10,000, while quarterfinalists are guaranteed $5000
for participation. As always, any and all winning accrued depends on how
far up the ladder a player goes.
Only nine of the fifteen that compete this week will be invited to
return next week, however, the five winners this week and four wild card
top-scorers.
Grab your ballpoint pens and your comp books, because it's time to go to
school.

Elemental, My Dear. And just when you've counted her out, here comes Olivia with
$6800 to the guys' $7800 a piece. She bets $3200 on this: your daily diet should
include ample amounts of this element, kalium in Latin. "What is potassium?"
CORRECT for $10,000!
Daily Double #2: $1200 From the Greek. Sid retakes
the lead with $15,800 over $14,200 for Steve and
$10,000 for Olivia. He wagers $4200, trying to build
that bank up, on this: 4 horsemen could tell you

SEMI-FINALIST:
Sid Chandrasekhar
If you are a big football
fan or just like hitting the sauce at the local steakhouse, this was a
walk. Sid wasn't about to miss this final, especially being from
Pennsylvania. Even if he did, though, Sid was leading for most of the
game. Could he emerge as an early favorite? Only if he keeps the pace
up. And don't discount the other two, even with the big risk that Olivia
took in betting so much in the final. Remember, the point of this week
is to get to next week.
Who'll join Sid? Stay
thirsty, my friends...
