                        "Preliminaries:
                        Maryland/Washington-St.Louis/NC Central" - November 8
It is an honor and a
privilege as the NC delegate to GSNN to welcome you to
my neck of the woods, Raleigh, North Carolina, the mecca
for college basketball (well, half an hour from it,
actually) for a different kind of competition. This is
Jeopardy!'s annual College Championship, hosted by North
Carolina State. So far, Beth Cimini of Boston University
is still in the race toward $100,000
and a berth in the next Tournament of Champions for a
                        quarter-mill.

                                The second place
winner is guaranteed at least $50,000 and
                                third-place is ensured $25,000.
                                Semifinalists
are guaranteed at least $10,000, while all
tournament players are guaranteed $5000 for
participating. Any and all monies, as always,
depend on how far the player moves up the
                                bracket.
                                Bring

                        Daily Double: $800

The clue: Y acts as the only vowel in the name of this
wildcat, a bobcat relative. Jayanth's response:
a shaking head. Correct response: What is a lynx?

                        Malisha's $4400 to Alison's $8800) bets $1000. The clue:
-sclerosis, as in "of an artery". Jayanth's response: "What is
                        hardening?"

category: Continents. This continent has the lowest high
point & the highest low point, less than a 7500'
difference. Correct response: What is Australia
                        Jayanth's
question: What is Australia? (RIGHT) Wager: $5600. Final
                        score: $13,000.
Malisha's question: What is Europe? (WRONG) Wager:
                        $5555. Final score: $2045.
Alison's question: What is Antarctica? (WRONG) Wager:
                        $2400. Final score: $10,000.

                         Jayanth
joins Beth in the semis, but don't look for his
conservative play to get him any farther than that. In
fact, based on the game play, should any of today's
players make the final, I will be surprised.
                        Bracketology: So
far, Christopher's dollar from yesterday is, pardon the
pun, the ONLY thing in jeopardy. Malisha had better be
careful, though, as Alison and Antonia are in prime
position to lock two of the four wild cards.
