Playoffs 1 - July 13

It's playoff time! Here's a recap of who is where to finish the season -

CPA - 5-0
Curves of Steel - 3-2
Barbell Mafia - 3-2
Ink. Inc - 3-2
Armed Response - 3-2
SBD Mimes - 2-3
Stallion Batallion - 1-4
Sumo Storm - 0-5

The playoffs are a one match set-up; you lose the match, you're gone. We start off with the 5-0 CPA Vs. The 0-5 Sumo Storm. This is a rematch from last week, where the CPA humiliated the Sumos. Is there any reason why we won't have the same result?

Here are your rosters -

CPA -
Tobias McKinney - Captain (6'5") - Can throw the ball 50 mph and is in the Dodgeball movie.
Mandy Sommers (5'2") - Can throw the ball 29 mph
Michael 'Handsome' Costanza (5'"10, 46 mph) - Runs the L.A. Dodgeball Society
Steve Altes (6'0") 45 mph
Gretchen Weiss (5'2", 29MPH)

Sumo Storm -
Americus Abesamis - Captain (6'0". 295 pounds)
Jon Beardsley (6'3". 285 pounds) - throws the ball 47 miles an hour
Dante Aligheri (6'0". 205 pounds)
Billy Aquaviva (5'9". 285 pounds)
Crystal Cartwright (5'7". 247 pounds)

The last time out, McKinney did a 'kamikaze kill' (which is to leap over the center line, which eliminates you, but the throw is legal as long as it leaves your hand before you step on the opposing team's court). To knock out the sumos, and the CPA's start by talking some more trash.

Round 1 - The Sumos take an early 4-2 lead, but the CPA tie it to bring it back to 2-2. It's Aquaviva all alone, and as he goes for the regenerator target, Altes deflects the ball... out of bounds, so he's out. That now leaves Aquaviva vs. Gretchen Weiss, and Aquaviva forgets about the target and nails Weiss instead. Could this be the upset of the year? (Sumos lead, 1-0)

Round 2 - Here comes the big ball - and the big sumos. We also get a big mouth - Cartwright complains that she wasn't hit and she gets a yellow card. Aligheri gets a show in the face, breaking his sun glasses and getting a cut, but the unkindest cut of all was Aquaviva's ball getting caught by McKinney, which ties the match up for the CPA. (Tied - 1-1)

Round 3 - The 'Dead Men Walking' are Aquaviva and Costanza. The CPA's quickly knock it down to a 3 on 1 against Aquaviva, but he hits the regeneration target and the sumos come back on the floor. That doesn't do them much good, because it falls back to 3 on 1 with Aquaviva, but Aquaviva takes out the CPAs so him and Costanza are left. Aquaviva's throw gets deflected by Costanza's ball. Costanza throws his ball - and misses. Costanza gets the rebound and connects on Aquaviva. Game, set and match as we say sayonara to the Sumos. The CPA's advance in a thriller. (CPA win, 2-0).

Next match-up - Ink Inc. Vs. Curves of Steel. Rosters -

Ink Inc.
Ben 'Psychic' Toth (5'11", 48 mph)
Jessica Cabo (5'2", 33 mph)
Shawn Hauser (5'"10, 44Mmph)
Damion Troy (5'"10, 43mph)
Rebecca Pontius (5'9", 33 mph) - Yes, she's related to Pontius of the mimes.

Curves of Steel - and yes, this is their first appearance of the show.
Kel Waltrin (250 lbs, 56 mph)
Kimberly Estrada - Captain (125 lbs, 37 mph)
Maritza Franco (126 lbs, 36 mph)
Amelie McKendry (130 lbs, 35 mph)
Lilith Fields (105 lbs, 32 mph)

Both teams are 3-2, with the Curves getting the win the first time these 2 teams met. Will the Inksters get revenge?

Round 1 - So far, so good. Psycho gets two kills during a time out - which doesn't count - but when play resumes, he takes out Kel. That is the key to beating the Curves, as the women get picked off for a 5-0 shutout (Ink leads, 1-0).

Round 2 - Second verse, same as the first. Kel tries to knock out Toth, but Toth deflects a Kel shot which gets caught by Troy. Kimmie catches a ball to get Kel back in, but Kel gets takes out by another Toth shot and the women quickly follow. McKendry is all alone for the Curves, and her throw is caught for the match. (Ink wins, 2-0).

Two teams down. two more to go for quarterfinal action, which will continue next week.
