Episode 2 - June 22

We have survived the first five games of Extreme Dodgeball. We are up for the second five games, as the first match up features the undefeated CPA Vs. the undefeated Barbell Mafia in an early battle for first place.

Rosters: CPA -
Tobias McKinney - Captain (6'5") - Can throw the ball 50 mph and is in the Dodgeball movie.
Mandy Sommers (5'2") - Can throw the ball 29 mph
Michael 'Handsome' Costanza (5'"10, 46 mph) - Runs the L.A. Dodgeball Society
Steve Altes (6'0") 45 mph
Gretchen Weiss (5'2", 29MPH)

Barbell Mafia -
Tyrone Rush - Captain (6'0", 55 mph) - Former pro football player
Jeremy Freeman (6'0", 290) - Benches 650
Alan Grimes (5'10" 260)
Melissa Coates (5'5", 150)
Amazon Beard (5'5", 125)

We get no predictions this time around.

Round 1 - The mafia are all over the CPA's. Costanza and McKinney get picked off very early, and that spells trouble. Only Gretchen Weiss is left - and her shot at the Regeneration target is picked off by Tyrone Rush. The Mafia win, 4 members left (Mafia, 1-0)

Round 2 - The Mafia repeat the same strategy as before - but Gretchen Weiss and Steve Altes both catch balls, which lets their teammates in and knocks out Ruch and Sommers. Melissa Coates is the last person left, but like the CPA in the first round, her shot is picked off - this time by Tobias McKinney. The CPA win with 3 people remaining (Tied, 1-1)

Beyond the Ball - We see the Mafia's Jeramy 'The Mountain' Freeman, who's the biggest person in the league. He can benchpress 650 - more than the whole Stallion Battalion (525 pounds). He also has his own Dodgeball school - which is sort of creepy.

Round 3 - The 'Dead Men' are Rush and Costanza. Rush throws her shot at Mandy Sommers, but Sommers repeats her efforts from Round 2 and catches the ball. That knocks out Rush, and since he was the dead man, the match is over (CPA Wins, 2-1). Sommers is the Power Player of the match.

The CPA is now 3-0, the only undefeated team in the league. What else happened in the league?

SBD Mimes Vs. Ink Inc. - With the match tied at 1, Pontius's catch was caught, and since he was the dead man walking, the Mimes lose, in a virtual repeat of the match we just saw between the Mafia and the CPA.

The second match-up for the night is Armed Response Vs. Ink. Inc. We saw Armed Response last week when they got pelted by the CPA. The Inkers got their first win earlier on this week - can they make it 2 wins?

Rosters - Armed Response -
David Benedetto (6'0", 51 mph) - Captain
Michelle Manumaleuna (5'7", 37mph)
Andrew Brawley (6'7", 275 pounds)
Laura Farley (5'6", 38mph)
Clay Kreuger (6'2", 50 mph)

Ink Inc. -
Ben Toth (5'11", 48 mph)
Jessica Cabo (5'2", 33 mph)
Shawn Hauser (5'"10, 44Mmph)
Damion Troy (5'"10, 43mph)
Rebecca Pontius (5'9", 33 mph) - Yes, she's related to Pontius of the mimes.

Round 1 - In a game of many catches, people keep flipping back and forth on and off the field. At the end of the game, Laura Farley is left for the response - and her throw is caught by Damion Troy to end the game. The Inkers win with 2 people remaining (Ink Inc., 1-0)

Round 2 - Clay Kreuger and Michelle Manumaleuna have all of the balls - and they throw them all at the three remaining Inkers. None of the balls hit, and the Inkers nail Clay and Michelle on the rebound to take the game and the match. (Ink Inc. 2-0).

The Inkers improve to 2-0, while Armed Response, who Bil Dwyer picked to win the whole league, are now at 0-2. Oops. But we're not done - we have more highlights...

Curves of Steel Vs. Stallion Battalion - will they get their first win of the season? Yes they do, as they sweep the Stallions 2-0. Can they beat the Mafia? Well, as we know, they can't (since the Mafia came in undefeated), but they give it a run - before the Curves' Kel gets thrown out of the match for a pair of false starts. That spells disaster for the Curves, who go down 2-1.

Here are the standings after week 2 -
CPA - 3-0
Ink. Inc - 2-0
Barbell Mafia - 2-1
Stallion Battalion - 1-1
Curves of Steel - 1-2
SBD Mimes - 1-2
Sumo Storm - 0-2
Armed Response - 0-2

That ends week 2, and as we can see, it looks like The Top 4 and The Bottom 4 are pretty clear. Will it stay that way? Or will we get some upsets? We'll find out next week...
