Episode 3 - June 29

Anyone reading about Charles Dickens knows about "It was the best of times; it was the worst of times". Now we have the best of matches and the worst of matches, potentially - The 1-2 Curves of Steel go against the 0-3 Sumos in the first match, but in the second match, the 3-0 CPAs go up against the 2-0 Ink Inc.

Round 1 - The Curves of Steel do well when they have Kel - Waldren, that is. He takes out all of the male sumos. Katasha Nelson has a shot at the regeneration target for the Sumos, but she steps over the center line, which calls her out and ends the game (Curves, 1-0)

Round 2 - Katashe Nelson is once again the last person left for the Sumos - and this time, she doesn't even get a chance to shoot at the regeneration target as Kel waffles her - just like he did to the other sumos. It's a clean sweep for the Curves, as they blank out the Sumos 5-0 in the round and 2-0 in the match.

The curves even their record at 2-2, while the Sumos still don't have a win.

What else is going on in the league? Glad you asked...

Armed Response Vs. Barbell Mafia - The Mafia is looking for revenge after the loss to the CPA, but with the match tied at 1, Kreuger single-handedly takes out all of the mafia. That gives the Response their first win of the season and drops the Mafia to .500.

Speaking of Armed Response, the Beyond the Ball segment looks at Deve Benedetto. He calls himself 'The Animal' and his favorite move is the 'spin' move, where he does a 360 before releasing the ball.

The next match features the CPA and Ink Inc. Both teams are a combined 5-0, and once again, first place is on the line for the CPA.

Rosters - CPA -
Tobias McKinney - Captain (6'5") - Can throw the ball 50 mph and is in the Dodgeball movie.
Mandy Sommers (5'2") - Can throw the ball 29 mph
Michael 'Handsome' Costanza (5'"10, 46 mph) - Runs the L.A. Dodgeball Society
Steve Altes (6'0") 45 mph
Gretchen Weiss (5'2", 29MPH)

Ink Inc. -
Ben Toth (5'11", 48 mph)
Jessica Cabo (5'2", 33 mph)
Shawn Hauser (5'"10, 44Mmph)
Damion Troy (5'"10, 43mph)
Rebecca Pontius (5'9", 33 mph) - Yes, she's related to Pontius of the mimes.

Round 1 - The Inksters catch a couple of shots, but so do the CPAs, and they end the round when McKinney catches a lame duck shot by Rebecca Pontios. The CPAs have 3 people left as they get the win. (CPA, 1-0)

Round 2 - In the best round so far this season, the Inksters are down to their final person, but Ben Toth hits the regeneration target which saves his team. They pick off the CPAs until Costanza and Sommers is left. In a great reaction moment, Costanza's shot is deflected and caught by Ben 'Psycho' Toth, who then turns around and hits Sommers, which gives Inc. the round. (Tied, 1-1).

Round 3 - The "Dead Men' are Costanza and Toth. The CPA's knock it down to Toth again, but this time, his shot for the regeneration target gets caught by Altes and the CPA stay undefeated. Toth wins the Power Player award - but not the match.

That leads us to this next match -

Curves of Steel Vs. Ink. Inc. - Both teams continue to do what they did on the show. Kel makes sure he doesn't get eliminated and he takes out Toth. That spell disaster for the Inksters, as they lose the match 2-1 to the curves, who are now in a playoff spot.

SBD Mimes Vs. Stallion Battalion - The Battalion's only win came on week one - and it will stay that way as the mimes sweep the jockeys right out of the stadium.

It was the best of times for some teams, and the worst of times for others, and that makes the standings look like this -

CPA - 4-0
Curves of Steel - 3-2
Barbell Mafia - 2-2
Ink. Inc - 2-2
SBD Mimes - 2-2
Armed Response - 1-2
Stallion Battalion - 1-2
Sumo Storm - 0-3

All we know is that the CPA should be the first seed in the playoffs, while the Sumos will be the first team at the buffet bar. Everything else is up for grabs, as the teams continue to vie for elusive playoff spots. We'll be back next week to see who moves one step forward for those spots.
