Singing Weavers/Jougs of Joy
August 23

On one side of this soundstage on California is a standard kitchen not unlike one you would find in your own home.

On the other... a fully-loaded kitchen not unlike one you would see in a first-class Michelin star restaurant.

Why are these two kitchens together? Because in a moment, two teams of home cooks are going to square off against our resident team of professional chefs. At stake: bragging rights and a check for $25,000.

Do these home cooks have what it takes to... BEAT THE CHEFS?!

The aforementioned chefs are...

- Chef Beau MacMillan, the executive chef of Elements in Arizona. He was one of the two hosts of Food Network's "Worst Chefs in America". His win over Bobby Flay in "Iron Chef America" is the stuff that dreams are made of.
- Chef Antonia Lofaso, a cookbook author and consulting chef at Black Market Liquor Bar in Studio City. She is a favorite from "Top Chef" and a finalist on "Top Chef All-Stars".
- Chef Jeff Henderson, the first African American head chef at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. He's cooked his way throughout Southern California before landing in Vegas. His first SoCal eatery will open in 2013.

And the judges? Food critics Brad A. Johnson & Christy Jordan.

Tonight's VERY SPECIAL guest judge: actor Eric Roberts. Some may know him as Julia's brother. We at GSNN know him as "the Fourth Master" (and as of now the only American to play a Time Lord).

SINGING WEAVERS VS. THE CHEFS

Our first team to take on the Chefs are the Weaver family from Orlando. Drew and his sisters Noiree, Brittany, and Pascha have been singing for their supper since church. Drew will be the leader of his team.

NOW... the Rules: the chefs will have a fully-stocked pantry and a state-of-the-art kitchen. You... will have something that looks like your house and all the ingredients you need to make your dish. What the chefs DON'T have is any idea what they will be cooking until the challengers tell them. In this case... CHICKEN & DUMPLINGS WITH GREENS. The chefs will then have the amount of time it takes to make an upscale, restaurant quality dish as dictated by the challengers. In this case... TWO HOURS. Then the judges will taste and decide which dish is the best. If the challengers beat the Chefs, they win $25,000. If not... they win... $0.

CHALLENGERS: Chicken with Classic Gravy, Bacon-stuffed Sweet Potato Dumplings, and Collard Greens with Cabbage Slaw
CHEFS: Honey BBQ Glazed Chicken Wings with Buttermilk Dumplings, Celery & Corn Sauce, and Fried Collard Greens
TIME: 2 hours

Midway through the battle, the Weavers get a good-luck message from their mom, but did the Singing Weavers sing their way to a dish that could beat the Chefs? We'll find out... at the END of the show. Meanwhile, here's our SECOND matchup...

JOUGS OF JOY VS. THE CHEFS

Second team to take on the chefs are the Bulot family from Slidell, Louisiana. Kristine will captain the ship, while her siblings Angelle, Boyd, and Richard will help out in the kitchen. They're playing for their late mother Joy who gave them TWO very secret ingredients. One is a distinct measurement called "a joug". It's a Louisiana thing, we may have to ask someone about it.

The second, we'll get to in a moment, but first, the dish... SHRIMP, POTATOES, AND GARLIC BREAD in... 90 minutes.

CHALLENGERS: BBQ Shrimp, Potato Salad with Eggs and Relish, Garlic Bread
CHEFS: Shrimp Toast Po'Boy, Chorizo Mashed Potatoes, Gumbo Broth, Shrimp & Andouille Salad
TIME: 1 hour, 30 minutes.

Now the second secret weapon, a gris-gris. What's a gris-gris, you ask? It's basically a New Orleans tradition that involved salt, matchsticks, and a voodoo doll to ward off evil spirits. And the first casualty... a food processor. This is real, my friends.

Their dish may be so good, it'll make you slap your mama, but is it enough to beat the Chefs?

WINNER.... CHEFS! Sorry, but no cash money for the freaky voodoo family.

Back to the Singing Weavers. Will they do what the Bulots could not?

WINNER... CHALLENGERS! Mom would be so proud of you.

Next week, two more teams and another possible $50,000 payout. Do not be late for your table.

The question now... do YOU have what it takes to put it down for your crew? Be on the lookout for season 6 calls. They're coming to you soon. Until then... good night from Los Angeles, where Poreotix of Westminster, CA is named AMERICA'S BEST DANCE CREW!

Next week, the five champions reunite for charity. For now... CONFETTI!
