Venice Qualifier Season Premiere
May 25
Last season, heroes were born, legends were made, but still no one could complete the entire course and claim the $500,000 prize that awaited atop Mount Midoriyama in Las Vegas. But that only serves as fuel for the best athletes in the world to come to America to try again. Will anyone seize this day - this moment - and change the course of their lives by conquering another course? It's all about to go down once again as we begin the search for... THE AMERICAN NINJA WARRIOR!

But with this course comes a twist. Since no one won the money last year, the prize will roll over to this year. That's right. Whoever completes the course in Las Vegas in the fastest time will win... ONE. MILLION. DOLLARS. And there's a new side-lady, Kristine Leahy from the CBS O&O in LA.

Tonight, we start the search for the American Ninja Warrior anew in...

VENICE, CA
Venice Beach Boardwalk

Of the six obstacles, three are making their ANW Debut

- Quintuple Steps
- Mini Silk Slider - grip the silk slider and slide 14 feet to...
- Tilting Table
- Spin Cycle - three angled spinning metal hoops.
- Hourglass Drop - Two hanging planks with changing widths, separated only by a trampoline.
- Warped Wall - 14 feet, three chances

And once again, it's win-and-in. Finish the qualifier, and you are guaranteed a spot in the City Final stage.

Our first player of ANW7 is a man who practices what he preaches...

- Kyle Cochran (26; Los Altos, CA; insulin pump salesman & user) - FAIL Mini Silk Slider
- Brendon Ayanbadejo (33; Los Angeles; retired pro football player) - FAIL Spin Cycle (foot)
- Jackson "Ninja Scout" Meyer (23; Seaside, OR; biology student) - FAIL Hourglass Drop

Hunter Seide got caught up in the Spin Cycle. Tiana Webberly got served by the Tilting Table. Justin Yan fell on the Mini Silk Slider.

- Jeff Clement (31; Phoenix; police officer), running in tribute to a fellow officer and best friend. FAIL Spin Cycle
- April "The Goat Whisperer" Gould (37; Gilbert, AZ; goat farmer) - FAIL Mini Silk Slider

LaTaunya Witherspoon got forked by the Silk Slider. Travis Weinand tripped up on the Hourglass Drop, while Rashad Richardson jumped on the platform at the end of the Hourglass Drop, but it was ruled as a course-out. You had to grab onto BOTH planks.

- Kevin Cleary (49; Novato, CA; CEO of CLIF Bar) - FAIL Mini Silk Slider
- Brian Kretsch (31; Alamo, CA; gym manager) - his younger sister will run later. FAIL Hourglass Drop, and he is in a lot of pain thanks to an awkward landing after the Tilting Table. He may have broken it just below the knee.
- Shannon Silver (21; San Ramon, CA; economics student & Brian's little sister) - FAIL Spin Cycle
- Arnold Hernandez (24; East Los Angeles; busboy) - used his mother's pain to build one of the best homemade courses AND invited ANW locals to train on it. FAIL Hourglass Drop (course-out)

Three more competitors - Sam Goldstein, Laurence Penera, and Dustin Rocho - all fail.

But can anyone get past this obstacle?

- David Campbell (37; Scotts Valley, CA; sound engineer), if he can't complete this course, NO ONE CAN. FAIL Hourglass Drop
- Alvaro Campos (34; San Francisco; Internet marketer): He's the first to make it to the Warped Wall... And UP. COMPLETE! (1:46)
- Rob Moravsky (23; Burbank, CA; model): FAIL Mini Silk Slider
- Grant McCartney (27; Honolulu, HI; flight attendant): Aloha! COMPLETE! (2:35)

Midway through the proceedings, and the only woman to finish the Finals Course, Mighty Kacy Catanzaro joins the hosts in the booth for the next run... the woman she took the record from.

- Jessie Graff (31; Burbank, CA; stuntwoman): FAIL Hourglass Drop

We will see Kacy again when she challenges the course in Houston. Meanwhile Ben Melick fails the Hourglass Drop, Thaddeus Robeck skidded out on the Tilting Table. Theo Agu faltered on the Hourglass Drop. Nick Symmonds raced to a quick exit on the Mini Silk Slider.

- Jon Ryan (33; Newcastle, WA; Seattle Seahawks punter): FAIL Tilting Table

Tyler Lumpkin, Danyelle Wolf, and Jason Tirado all met a watery end.

- Travis Brewer (32; Venice, CA; clothing designer): COMPLETE! (2:07)
- Nichlas Coolridge (26; Venice, CA; construction worker): COMPLETE! (1.29)

Alma Meirmanov became the night's fifth finisher, followed by Ryan Robinson's course-out and Selena Laniel's fail on the Silk Slider.

- Alan "The Beast" Connealy (35; Concord, CA; chiropractor) is running for his business partner Alison. COMPLETE! (1:28)
- Nick Hanson (27; Unalakleet, AK; coach), the first Eskimo to run the course. FAIL Hourglass Drop (course-out). That puts him in the 30th position.

Six runners remaining... and five of them fell out early. That leaves the Running of the Bull.

- Kevin Bull (30; Scotts Valley, CA; stock trader): If he gets to the Hourglass Drop in less than 1:21, he will knock Nick out. COMPLETE! (:56) Fastest time of the night and winner of the Pom Wonderful Run of the Night! He will return, and so will these 29...
