July 7-8 - Group 4

You know, today we had a jam session after my 9 am class and we got talking about CI and how I didn't pick a good song. it turns out I should have done a show tune (or "The Reason" by Hoobestank, but that's another
story). Well, if they raised the AI limit to 28. Hmm..

We've got eight near misses back to take their best shots. Zack reminds the players that Ryan Malcolm and Clay Aiken were WC's so anything is possible. All of the singers that are back are super excited to get another chance.

Tonight, before each crooner gets to the stage, one of the judges will explain why they're back.

First up is Bernard Quilala. Jake says he's got a lot of soul and is capable of doing it right this time. Bernard has chosen "I Heard It Through The Grapevine". It's nice but it doesn't seem 100% natural.

Jake: It was a good performance - it wasn't great.
Farley: It looks like you worked on some aspects of the performance.

Bernard says that he had more fun this time.

Number two is Liz Titan. Farley explains that she deserves hands down a chance to try again. She reprises Toya's song from last year "Try It On My Own". Unfortunately it's not that great.

Sass: Overall not that engaging.
Zack: It wasn't as good as you will be.

Liz is less nervous this time, or so she says.

Number three is Raj Ramawad. Sass says he was brought back for his systematic rhythm. His choice is "Goodbye". He can really push his voice.

Jake: Awesome!
Sass: That was a step up to the plate.

Raj says this time he wasn't going to be reserved. And he wasn't!

Batting clean up is Kyla Sandulak. Zack says she's back because she's an artist in the Tori Amos vibe. Her choice is "Stand By Me". It's not bad, but song choice will get the best of her.

Farley: Song choice in this case.
Zack: It wasn't who I think you are.

Kyla picked the song because it was up-tempo.

Number five is Ted Senécal. Previously he was okay to having being eliminated. Tonight he sings "Joy To The World". He really seems to be enjoying it. And the crowd plays along.

Jake: You really portrayed the emotion.
Zack: I could hear the sound of remotes changing channels.

Ted says this time that the song was "all fun".

Number six is Elena Juatco. Farley explains that she has a natural abundance of entertainment value. She sings "What I Did For Love" and seems to be loving it.

Farley: No question with that performance.
Sass: Better than expected.

Elena states that she was having too much fun last time!

Second last to go is the favourite around my parts, Jason Greeley. Sass says Jason is a natural performer and that's why he's back. His choice is "Sad Songs" and you can tell it's a good pick.

Sass: You didn't let me down.
Jake: It was great. Unbelievable.

Jason states that last week he went for too much emotion.

Last to go is Andrew Broderick. Zack says that he was great during his audition and he wants to see it again. This time he goes soft with "Imagine". He seems like he's singing it softer than it should be.

Farley: You've got a ton of potential.
Zack: Next week I won't be seeing you in the top 10.

Andrew states that he's doing good.

RESULTS

First off the top 10 (8 so far) talk about their feelings. Awww. barf. (That's for you, Gordon).

No Jon Dore sketch this week, so we get right to the results.

Elana: Top 3
Kyla: NO
Liz: NO
Jason: Top 3
Bernard: NO
Ted: Top 3
Raj: NO
Andrew: NO

Moving on are. Upper Island Cove's own Jason Greeley, and from the other end of the country, Vancouver's Elana Juatco.
