The new classmate is Markeia McCardy. She's
a substitute teacher, so she'd have to know this stuff, right? She
should...but she starts with Zach as a backup just in case.
5th Grade Ancient Cultures: Parallel to Mars in Roman mythology, what
son of Zeus and Hera was the Greek god of war? Markeia thinks it's Ares.
I know it is from my playing of God of War. Right! Total: $5,000.
3rd Grade Anatomy: Entering the ear from outside the body, which of
these would you encounter first: Cochlea, Ear drum, Or Stirrup bone?
Markeia says that mom would say Ear Drum, so that's what she says.
Mother knows best. Total: $7,500.
5th Grade U.S. History: Opened in 1821, The Santa Fe Trail began in the
city of Independence in what U.S. state? Though Santa Fe is in New
Mexico, the city of Independence is in Missouri. Markeia falls for the
trap and says New Mexico. Did Zach, who lives in Missouri, have his own
state? Yes he did! Total: $12,500.
Zach can no longer save Markeia. Maybe Danielle can save her.
4th Grade Geometry: True or False: A sphere is a plane figure. Markeia
is not of the math mind, so she Peeks. Danielle says False, and she
agrees. They are both right. Total: $16,000.
4th Grade Earth Science: 99% of the air in Earth's atmosphere is
contained in which atmospheric layer? Mesosphere, Thermosphere, or
Troposphere? Markeia goes with Troposphere, and she's right! Total:
$19,500.
3rd Grade Social Studies: 'Rocky Top' is an official state song of what
U.S. state? That would be Tennessee. Markeia copies Danielle. Did the
say Tennessee? She said 'Tenesse', and that's deemed good enough. Total:
$22,000.
Danielle is no longer available.
2nd Grade U.S. Geography: Olympic National Park is located in what U.S.
state? Markeia thinks it's Washington - and it is! Total: $23,000.
3 Subjects left until $25,000.
1st Grade Music: If Danielle plays the musical instrument in the
following visual, what instrument does she play? It looks like a
clarinet. Markeia thinks it could be an oboe (no it can't, it doesn't
have the long reed) but says clarinet. She's right again! Total:
$23,500.
2 Subjects left until $25,000.
1st Grade World Geography: If you flew directly west from San Francisco,
CA, what's the next continent you would hit? Markeia says that it's
Asia, it's huge and she can't miss it. She also can't miss the money
because she has it! Total: $24,000.
1 More until 25 G's...
2nd Grade Grammar: What's the simple past tense of the verb "ring"?
Markeia says ringed. I thought it was rang. Rang is acceptable...and so
is ringed! Markeia has the $25,000!
But will she go for the $250,000? The category is...Physical Science.
She's going to listen to her dad and drop out. She's not smarter than a
5th grader, but she is $25,000 richer.
'If you think the multiplication table is something you buy at IKEA,
then you might not be smarter than a 5th Grader.'
On CMT, Amy Mackin is going to the chapel
and is... going to get married. The hubby says good luck, but to have
fun. Annalise becomes the first ring girl.
5th Grade Astronomy: Which of the 8 planets in our solar system was
discovered most recently? Amy thinks she knows it and guesses Neptune.
She's...right, for a good start. Total: $5,000.
5th Grade Ancient Cultures: Known as 'Mowai', these stone carvings are
found in what Chilean island? Amy says Mayan...since when was Mayan a
Chilean island? It's Easter Island. Annalise said...Easter Island for
the save. Total: $10,000.
3rd Grade Vocabulary: While playing tag, Madison divides the playground
into 'quadrants', each with it's own home base. How many bases are
there? Quad = 4, so that's the answer. Amy also says 4, and she's right!
Total: $12,500.
Annalise is done with the questions. Madison takes her place.
2nd Grade English: What letter can you add to the word 'Sent' for a
homophone meaning a distinctive odor? The letter would be 'C', and Amy
nails it. Total: $13,500.
4th Grade Nature: If Annalise is in Africa, looking for a Baobob, which
is she looking at: a bird, a monkey or a tree? Amy doesn't know, so
she's going to Copy. Madison says Tree - and it is a Tree! Total:
$17,000.
4th Grade Political Science: Who is in charge of keeping track of
someone's votes: Filibuster, Speaker, or Whip? Amy guesses Whip....and
she's right again! Total: $20,500.
Madison gets her 3 questions and is done. Pablo will get the rest of the
show.
3rd Grade Cultural Studies: What Italian city are you Honeymooning in if
the city contains cultural landmarks such as the Grand Canal and St.
Marks Basilica?
Amy wants to Peek at Pablo's paper. Pablo says Venice, which is what Amy
was thinking of. Total: $23,000.
3 away from $25,000. But if Amy wants to do it, it has to be on her own.
2nd Grade Music: What Asian percussion instrument is shown in this
picture? She thinks it's a gong, which it is. She guesses that, nd she's
right! Total: $24,000.
2 away from $25,000
1st Grade U.S. History: Identify the famous American in this picture.
She says Benjamin Franklin, and she's right again! Total: $24,500.
1 more to $25,000.
1st Grade Math: True or False: 8 + 17 + 5 = 60 - 23 - 6. That would be
false. Amy says False...and she runs the board! Total: $25,000!
Now will she make it $250,000? The Subject: World Geography. Tiger,
Amy's fiancé tells her to run with the money. Amy heeds the hubby and
drops out of school. She's got a marriage and $25,000 worth of presents.
NIGHTCAP! Pia Smith is a personal shopper. I'm guessing that $250,000
can come in real handy. She comes up with $12,000 of it, but will she go
for $120,000? The subject: Physical Science. Pia isn't going to go
anywhere near that and she drops out. $12,000 will get some nice duds
though. More playing tomorrow. |

Tonight, at least one player promises
to "embarrass (his) wife with (his) dancing".
Clark
Seattle
youngest of kids ranging 14 years |
Linda
San Francisco
singer |
Alex
Fremont, CA
restaurant manager (and bad dancer) |
FIRST 21 WINS
trip to San Francisco |
Hand #1: Clark gets a jack, Linda a
9, and Alex a 6. Alex keeps an ace away from Clark for soft 17.
Linda freezes at 19 after taking a king. Alex passes a jack to
Clark for 20. Alex busts Clark on a king, so now he draws. He gets
a 7 for hard 14... a 4 for 18... and a 3 to catch 21! He has 800
to Linda's 100. Clark is scoreless right now.
Hand #2: a 6 for Clark, a 2 for
Linda, and a 10 for Alex. Linda keeps a king for 12, while Alex
passes a 4 to Clark for 10. Alex passes Linda a 3 for 15. Clark
draws a queen and freezes at 20. Alex busts Linda on a king. If
the 20 holds, then Clark is moving on. Otherwise, he's outta here.
Alex draws a 6 for 16... and another 6 to bust by one. Clark takes
round 2 with 600 to Alex's 1100. Linda still has 200, which means
it's the end of the line for her.
Final Hand: Clark has an ace to
Alex's 7. Alex passes a 7 to Clark for soft 18... then a 9 for
hard 16... then a 9 to bust him! Alex wins and he didn't even have
to do anything!
Bonus Round with three Power Chips:
1) Q - 2 - 5 = 17
2) A - Q = 21 ($1000)
3) 7 - 2 = 9
PASSED: 9, 6, K
Right now, he could've had $5000
instead of $1000 if he played both 2s and the King on hand 3.
Let's see how this plays. Next... 5. That goes on hand 3, and he
stops with $2000 total. Had he gone on, an ace would've gone on #3
for 15, a 3 would've gone on #3 for 18, and a 9 would've busted. |

Zohra Agruza is one screaming
Cleopatra. I'm not trying to be rude - she's the screamer selected
for DOND's Halloween week. She's a married 23 year old who'd love
to go to Greece for her honeymoon. She has case #3, but she wants
to exchange it for case #12. With that out of the way, let's open
5 cases. #19 (Eric the Caveman) - $100,000. #17 (Sharon the pirate
wench) - $7,500. #14 (Tony the sultan) - $50. #4 (Tye the Catwoman)
- $400. #6 (Katina the Hippie) - $25,000. It's an 'ok' round.
OFFER: $20,000. NO DEAL!
As Twix is the candy sponsor today, lets bite off 5 more cases.
#22 (Sean the King) - $100. #10 (Audrey the Fairy) - $75,000. #9
(Bill the inmate) - PENNY! #3 (Scott the Vampire) - $200. #11
(William the Japanese Sensei) - $10. The top 2 cases are still in
play, but she's lost a lot of safety net. OFFER: $27,000. NO DEAL!
4 more cases to open.
#1 (James the French Spider) - $5. #16 (Ann the Bee) - $50,000.
#28 (Eddie the knight) - $5,000. #8 (Jessica the Vamp) - $500,000.
Those last 3 cases made the board look bad.
$1, $25, $300, $500, $1,000, $2,500, $10,000, $250,000
OFFER: $9,000
NO DEAL! 2 cases to open. Avoid the Great Pumpkin Case...
#2 (Beth the Flapper) - $10,000. Now you really can't open up the
big one...
#13 (Mike the Howie Mandel Impersonator) - $1,000
$1, $25, $300, $500, $2,500, $250,000
OFFER: $19,000
We give out candy while Zohra think about this - if $250,000 goes
away, then so does $16,500. $19,000 is more than enough to go on
the honeymoon. DEAL for $19,000! But did she have the $250,000?
Next case...#18 (Laura the Queen - $2,500) and #154 (Nurse Pam) -
$1. (OFFER: $36,000). Next case - #4 (Shawn the Artist ($300) -
OFFER - $74,000. Next case...#5 (Dan the Greaser) - $500 (OFFER:
$125,000). Inside Zohra's case...$300. She still made a good
(albeit early) deal. Join us tomorrow for more candy. |

Walbergs literally
came out of nowhere to play and win. Now they want to do it again.
Cruz (Jennifer,
David, Scott, Josh, Carmine)
Boca Raton, FL |
Walberg (Erin,
Michelle, Becki, Shirley, Renee)
Annandale, MN
$1880, two days |
Bullseye Round:
$1000: something you think newlyweds fight over the most. Erin
gets MONEY to start.
$2000: a kind of fruit that some people are shaped like. Michelle
gets two with PEAR.
$3000: a phrase that starts with the word "make". Both blank on
MAKE MY DAY.
$4000: a state where cows might outnumber people. Another bad one
with... TEXAS.
$5000: something a wife hates to discover that her new husband
does in his sleep.
George rounds it out with $20,000 to the Walbergs' $18,000.
Single (full boards): when planning
their wedding, something the couple might disagree about. Jennifer
gets #8, the band, but elects to pass. Michelle gets #6, wedding
party. Becki gets #7, how much money to spend. Shirley gets #4,
the honeymoon. Michelle gets #3, the food. Becki finally gets the
big one with who to invite. The Cruz play strategy with
location... and strategy pays in 76. Other answer: colors.
Double (full boards): something you wish you'd done more of when
you were younger. Having fun beats exercise, 2 to 5, as Michelle
wins control. Becki gets the topper, study. The champs also
travel, as we travel to the Cruz family to try and take it with
family time... No! 104 to the Walbergs. Other answers: dating,
working/saving money, playing sports, rolling in the hay.
Triple (7): a famous singer whose
first name starts with "M". Scott fires with Madonna for #1. Rest
of the family gets Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Mick Jagger.
The Walbergs can put the game away with a good "M" here. Is it
Miley Cyrus? Aaaaand Hannah Montana's up there to win, 365-76.
Other answers: Martina McBride, Mel Tillis.
The Fast Money round had Shirley
give another silly answer thinking married men get a dirty look
from their wife 20 times a day. They also should have went to the
end of the alphabet to get the least used letter. Those mistakes
had her and Michelle fall two points short of winning $18,000.
They still get another $990 for a three-day total of $2870. |

Kevin's been on a tear this week, but
can he break $100,000 tonight?
Kevin Wilson
Toronto
communications specialist
$76,998, three days |
Jen McFann
Astoria, NY
Peace Corps recruiter |
George Long
Pittsburgh
atturney |
Kevin starts with $200 ____ of
____. At the TV time out, Jen leads with $3800 to $3600 for
George. Kevin is in the red by a six-piece.
Jen gets the last clue, $1000 in
What Big Teeth You Have! She bets $1500 on this: the mouth of this
African ungulate can open 150 degrees to show its teeth; its lower
canines may be more than 12" long. "What is a hippopotamus?"
Correct to end the round with $7900 to George's $5200. Kevin,
still lagging behind at $2400, will have the advantage of the
first clue in Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400 Are You Toying With
Me? George finds the first Daily Double under $1600 Oscars
Youngest/Oldest. He's betting all of his $8800 on this: youngest
Best Actor winner: this 29-year-old in 2003 for a WWII-set film.
"Who is Adrien Brody?" Correct for $17,600! Kevin can make a move
with $1600 Night at the Museum, the second Daily Double. He makes
it $3400 on this: in Rousseau's "Sleeping Gypsy", a full moon
gangs in the night sky while this animal catches the scent of the
title figure. "What is... a dog?" No, it was a lion, dropping him
to $1000. He makes his way back to $1400. He can still play
spoiler to Jen's $14,300 and George's $24,000, IF Jen bets into
George and George does something stupid.
Final Jeopardy! in "American
Thinkers": he told George Washington he hopes "the rights of
man may become as universal as your benevolence can wish". Correct
response: who was Thomas Paine?
Jen DOES bet into George, and
George DOES do something stupid. Bad news for George is that Jen
is correct and wins $19,410. Kevin leaves with $78,998. |

Let's Make a Deal
by Gordon Pepper
Air time: 10a/9C OR 3p/2C on CBS
Host: Wayne Brady with Jonathan Mangum & Allison Fiori
On the Web:
cbs.com/letsmakeadeal |
|
Wayne has some money. He'll be giving
it out during the show, but while he's giving it out if a wacky
noise comes out, a dealer will have a shot at a car! Ooooh. Will
this couple have a shot at a car? LeShaun (Witch) and Howard
(Jason Voorhees gone African) can have some of Wayne's cash in an
envelope - or they can have the box. They take the money and give
up a HDTV and Nintendo Wii package worth $1,362 (Drool). Inside
the envelope is $700, so that's theirs...unless they want the
small box. They don't, and pass on a platinum ring worth $5,800!
Last chance to trade the money for Curtain #1. They keep the money
and turn down a motorcycle worth $13,799!!! But they still have
$700.
Peter (Scuba Diver) can take the small cake box or Curtain #2.
Whatever he doesn't want goes to Sarah (Flapper). Peter wants the
curtain and gets an old canoe (ZONK!) We'll see what happens to
Sarah later...
But right now, we have medical biller and coder Donna (Graduate),
who's playing for a trip to St. Croix worth $3,590. That would be
a great honeymoon if Donna can spell 'Caribbean'. If she watched
'Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader' last night, she'd know. Her
spelling...'Carbrbain', which doesn't get her to go anywhere. The
next question, which can still get her the trip: How much was it?
Donna says $3,150 + $500 = $3,650. She's wrong again. It's $3,590.
Wayne gives her $500 as a consolation prize. Aw.
Back to Sarah with her box...and the wonky music plays! Sarah can
win a Toyota Corolla worth $16,775! Sarah doesn't want to spell,
but Wayne wants her to spell W-I-N. She has a pair of cards;
behind one is a letter and the other is a money card. Behind Card
#1...$200. Well, that was quick. She does have $200 and a cake
box, which we wont show yet...
But let's say hi to Lee (Toucan head) who has _111. She can keep
the money or go in the big box, whose contents goes with water,
while the number is less than 7. She wants the money and turns
down an old ship mine (ZONK!) It's worth...$3,111! A very nice
all-cash deal for Lee.
Christina (Chef) and Michelle (Witch) each get $600 from Wayne.
There are 3 small boxes on the other side, and each one costs
$300. First we have a blue box which neither lady wants. Neither
lady gets a trip to Laguna Beach worth $3,215. Now we have a green
box and no one bites. That box had a $500 gift card for Maria
Badescu beauty products. What about a red box? Christina doesn't
want it, but Michelle does, and she gets a Laptop Computer and
Camcorder worth $1,530! We have a Curtain for everything they
women have. Michelle will keep the $1,830, but NOW Christina wants
to buy. This time, she buys 500 broken golf clubs (ZONK!) Michelle
got some value on her deal.
Back to Sarah and her cakebox. There's something round in it,
which she can have...or she can have curtain #2. She wants her
cakebox (calling it Percy), and turning down a brand new kitchen
worth $5,471. That's painful because inside Percy is a mud pie (ZONK!)
What made it even more painful is that she would have had first
crack at The Big Deal worth $32,930! Let's see who does have first
crack....
TRADE LIST
Lee: $3,111
Michelle: $1,830
LeShaun/Howard: $700
Donna: $500
Christina: 500 Broken Golf Clubs
Peter: ZonK-Kayak
Sarah: $200 and First love with Percy the mudpie.
Will Lee give up $3,111 for $32,930? She will indeed! She selects
door #3. behind #1 first is...a Beatles themed adventure to
England worth $9,794. Behind Door #3...the Cash Vault, where she
traded $3,111 for...$2,777. it's only a $334 drop, so that's not
awful, but she would have preferred a NISSAN Z worth $32,930! That
was behind door #2, and that would have been the win. Oh well.
Let's try again tomorrow. |
