Michael
Lansing, MI
English teacher |
Heung
Rockville, MD
courtroom coordinator |
Kristen
Olympia, WA
business manager |
Rachel
Palm Desert, CA
speech pathologist |
We start as always with the small
bags. Heung is a biter during relations. Kinky. Kristen
intentionally runs over skunks. Gross. Rachel shares popsicles
with her dog. Which is here today.
Dealbreaker Baggage: "I spend $1000
a month on lottery tickets." No winners. "I'm a sugar mama to two
younger men." Again, no winners there. "I love eating my peeled
skin." Michael can handle woman jerky, but sugar mamas have gotta
go. Which means it's time to say goodbye to the company of...
Rachel. Heung eats her skin, while Kristen is addicted to profit.
And Rachel also been married four
times. Just putting that out there.
Big Baggage: Heung moved to another
state to stalk her ex. Kristen can chew and spit tobacco all day.
So will Michael end up with the girl who bites you, bites herself,
and bites her pride moving to another state... or the girl who
hits the lotto, hits skunks, and hits the dip EVEN AS I'M TYPING
THIS? Kristen is told to hit the bricks.
And Heung doesn't have to move
about anymore, but before she can pack up one more time, she has
to unload Michael's baggage... "I had sex with my therapist." Is
Heung going to need to put an end to this? She... shuts it down.

Roger kicked off season 27 by going
absolutely crazy on the board yesterday. Can he follow that up
with a winning performance today?
Roger Craig
ONE DAY CHAMPION
Newark, DE
graduate student of computer science
$37,000 |
Tony Fan
Marietta, GA
law student |
Mandy Strine
Henderson, TN
DMV administrator for a used-car retailer |
Roger starts with $200 Rock'n'Old,
leading at the TV timeout wiht $4800 to Tony's $1800. Mandy is in
the red.
Roger finds the first Daily Double
under $600 Caldecott Medal & Honor Winners. He bets $4000 on this:
a 2007 Caldecott Honor book was called "Moses: When" she "Let Her
People to Freedom". "Who is Harriet Tubman?" Correct for $9400!
Many got out of the red with $800, but with Tony at $4200 and
Roger at $13,000, Mandy will have to start up Double Jeopardy!...
... on a "How I Met Your
Mother"-theme board with $400 Legendary! Roger finds the first
Daily Double under $1200 Wait For It... He bets $7000 on this: in
this play, a boy says that the title character "won't come this
evening, but surely tomorrow." "What is 'Waiting for Godot'?"
Correct for $32,800! Roger finds the other Daily Double under
$1600 Legendary! Roger bets just $5000... heh, JUST $5000... on
this: he invented the lyre & gave it to Apollo; Apollo gave him
the caduceus in return. "Who is Hermes?" RIGHT FOR $38,600! He
ends the round with $47,000 and a rare opportunity to become the
biggest single-game winner in Jeopardy! history. I say that
because Mandy, with -$400, is out of it, and Tony has just $5400.
So if he did it right, he could win $83,199 TODAY.
Final Jeopardy! in "Literary &
Movie Title Objects": the inspiration for this title object
in a novel & a 1957 movie actually spanned the Mae Khlung River.
Correct response: what is the "Bridge on the River Kwai"?
Roger's
right, but with only a $30,000 bet... probably wanted to make it
easy on himself... he still sets TWO records today: the most money
won in a game with $77,000, and the quickest to $100,000 with two
games. He takes $114,000 into tomorrow's match. |

She lands on the R in AMERICA'S. Her category is PLACE. With the
RSTLNE and her choices of H P D I we have:

Nothing. She missed out on FRONT YARD. And she lost $30,000, but
she leaves with $11,700 in cash and trip to St. Lucia. |

So far, Ellen Kennedy (Philadelphia,
PA) has only faced 1 question, and only has $100 to show for it.
She does have all of her lifelines, though.
She jumps the 2nd question, so she won't get the $2,000 that was
behind it. She does get another $500 on the 3rd, bringing her bank
up to $600 going into this...
[Question 4] (Model Congressman)
Which of these U.S. Senators once famously posed nude for
Cosmopolitan magazine?
A: Al Franken
B: Scott Brown
C: John Kerry
D: Dick Lugar
It's best not to try picturing this. Though Ellen thinks it's B,
she asks the audience. 67% agree with her. She goes with that, and
it is indeed B, adding to her bank... $1,000. $1,600 total so far.
After that, Ellen jumps the 5th question, missing out on $15,000.
With the 6th, she gets $10,000, raising her bank to $11,600 before
this pops up...
[Question 7] (Weather Math)
If you see a flash of lightning, and then ten seconds later hear
the resulting clap of thunder, approximately how far away is the
storm?
A: Half a mile
B: One mile
C: Two miles
D: Five miles
Earlier, Ellen felt that she wasn't going to be a risk-taker, but
she's tempted to go with B. But then, she talks herself out of
taking that risk, and walks with half of her bank, $5,800. Good
thing she did; the answer is C!
Nadia Hansen (Las Vegas, NV) - Computer analyst
She moved to the U.S. from Pakistan 10 years ago, and became a
U.S. citizen this year!
After getting her first $500 on the 1st question, Nadia faces
this...
[Question 2] (Garden State)
Which of these historic events took place in New Jersey?
A: Hamilton-Burr duel
B: Whiskey Rebellion
C: Assassination of William McKinley
D: Battle of Antietam
Unsure of this, Nadia asks the audience. 63% say A. She trusts
them, and that was a good move, giving her... $2,000 for a total
so far of $2,500.
Nadia jumps the 4th question, losing out on $3,000, but her bank
is at $17,500 as she sees this...
[Question 5] (Shrek)
The lovable ogre Shrek shares his name with a Yiddish word meaning
what?
A: Fear
B: Strong
C: Father
D: Stubborn
After ruling out A because she didn't think Shrek showed any fear
in the movies, Nadia thinks about whether or not to go for it. She
does decide to go for it, locking in B... but it's A! That means
she leaves with $1,000.
Brian Foley (Worcester, MA) - Firefighter
He has been a firefighter for 33 years.
Just one question in, and Brian has $7,000. He'll return tomorrow
to continue playing. |
