Casey (Kelly,
Don, Kevin, Laurie, Ernie) |
|
Houston
(Tamika, Erika, Arca, Audra, Erik); $20,840, two
days |
Round 1: something you
might need if you went hunting with VP Dick Cheney (5). Tamika gets
the obvious answer, a bulletproof vest for #1. Rest of
the family follows up with a shotgun and bodyguards. The
Caseys try to steal with camouflage... Not there! The
Houstons get 86. Other answers: face guard, insurance.
Round 2: something every
good couch potato needs (6). Erika comes up big with the
remote. Food, couch, and pillows follow. The Caseys try
again with the steal for phone... Not there. Other
answers: a friend, exercise. The Houstons lead, 175-0.
Double: a song Michael
Jackson sang in the days when he still had a nose (full
board). Arca gets #5, ABC. Kevin gets #2, Beat It.
Laurie gets #1, Thriller. Also on the board, Billie
Jean. Can the Houstons steal for the game with Bad? YES!
Houstons win it in three, 321-0. Other answer: I'll Be
There.
The Houstons sit out
Tamika for Erika, as she and
Eric go for Fast Money. Tamika gets all the number ones
save for one for 186. Eric only needs one question for
$20,000. They have $40,840 for three days.
In the nightcap, the McCarthys (Everett, Faye, Derek, Rosie,
Kirby; $20,000) go up against the Espinosa family (Pam,
Kehlie, Lisa Marie, Michael, Michael Jr.), and after the double round, the challengers are
riding the champs, 268-80. Triple: something guys often
have a pet name for (4). Rosie stifles out "genitals"...
it's number one. Also on the board... car, girlfriend,
and pet for the win, 356-268.
Everett & Derek team up
again, but today, it's only for
for 139, giving them $695, a two-day take of $20,695. |

Meighan Larbi
(publishing data manager from Cape Coral, FL);
$11,600 |
|
Robert Gomma
(physics research intern from Montreal) |
|
Mary Plews
(librarian from Toledo, OH) |
Meighan is the third
female champ of the season. If the pattern holds, Robert
has his work cut out for him and Mary already has a
leading edge.
Meighan starts with $200
You Can Tell By The Way I Use My "Walk". Sure enough,
Robert is trailing at the TV time out with $1400 to
Mary's $2000 and Meighan's $4200.
But Robert, fresh off a
scoring change, has a chance to catch up with the Daily
Double under $1000 It Borders Only One Other Country. In
the lead by a deuce, he bets $2600 on this: the 2
countries in the Caribbean that border only one other
nation, each other. "What are Haiti and the Dominican
Republic?" Right for $7000! He adds onto his lead,
$8600, as if to say, I'll be the one to break this skid.
Meighan has $4800 to Mary's $3800. So guess who starts
Double Jeopardy!...
... it's Mary, with $400
Apres "Ski". Meighan finds the first Daily Double under
$800 Beastly Lines. She risks her margin of trail,
$3000. The clue: in William Collins' "Ode to Evening",
this "weak-eyed" creature "flits by on leathern wing".
"What is a moth?" Nope, it's a bat, giving her $7400.
Second Daily Double goes unclaimed, as Robert is ahead
by almost $7000, $16,200 to Mary's $9400. Meighan is
still in it with $8200.
Final Jeopardy! in "A
1950s Poem": "whole intellects... who demanded
sanity trials... & were left with their insanity & their
hands & a hung jury." Correct question: what is "Howl"?
Meighan doubles up for
the lead. Mary blanks out. Robert... also blanks out, so
it's Meighan, the first repeat champ of the season with
$27,999. |

Housewives (Monica,
Jenny, Alexandra, Marina, Claudia), $1000, two games |
|
Bodybuilders (Frank, Heyner, Miguel, Carlos,
Alex); $500 |
Apparently a feather boa
brings good luck, because as soon as the housewives give
one to Marco Antonio, they take round 2. But as soon as
the guys get a hold of it, they take the lead, 160-81.
Double round: something associated with December (4).
Gifts are #2 for Marina. Christmas is #1 for Claudia.
Holidays and ... the new year? We'll see... Not there
for the steal, giving the housewives 241. Other answer:
the Virgin of Guadalupe.
Triple Round: at your
wedding, something that is very expensive (3). The
wedding dress is #2 Claudia. Monica gets #1, food. The
party room is the steal on the bodybuilders... Got it
for the win, 412-241.

Carlos take to the board. Alex gets 89. Carlos passes
two, giving the team 151 for another $500, $1000 total.
Now the marquee matchup...

(Ivy Queen, Cheka, Johnny of Crooked Stilo, Victor
of Crooked Stilo, DJ Panic), playing for the
American Foundation for the Blind; $500 |
|
Univision Radio
(El Piolin, Javier Romero, Raul Brindis, Roxana
Garcia, Kazzanova); playing for the American Cancer Society,
$10,500, two games |
IUnivision-Radio lead
after three, 163-81. Double: something men do when they
see a woman... Roxana? "Silban" Whistle up there? #3.
Full question: something men do when they see a
beautiful woman in front of them (3). Compliment is #2
for Victor. Number one... look, giving Música Urbana the
lead with 279.
Triple: an electric that
is always on the counter of a kitchen (3). Kazzanova
goes with microwave for #1. Blender is #2. What's #3? Is
it a can opener for the steal? No! Univision Radio wins
again, 400-279. Other answer: coffee maker.
Kazzanova and Roxana go
for the DR this time, getting 138 for $11,000 for three
games.

Boyle leads us to break with Helen & Joanne tied with
250 to Matthew's 200.

Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire? by Don Harpwood, GSNN

Host: Meredith Vieira |

It's still the first week of
the new season, and we're just getting started.
Randy Shane (Danbury, CT), a self-professed WWTBAM
fanatic, is up first. He auditioned 6 times before
getting here, and he was at the Play It! attraction 14
times. In one of those, specifically in April of this
year, he managed to win the million points! The confetti
machine there was broken, though, and the jacket he got
for winning doesn't fit. Yipes. Anyway, his road to big
money starts with him knowing that someone who is
getting some "shut-eye" is sleeping (and maybe in some
cases, watching pro golf, but that's another story). He
sweeps the lower tier, then gets through most of the
middle tier before facing this...
[$25,000]
What U.S. author pitched his first novel to a publisher
by saying "It's about a kid in New York during the
Christmas holidays"?
A: Norman Mailer
B: F. Scott Fitzgerald
C: J.D. Salinger
D: Ralph Ellison
Randy takes some time to re-read the question and
consider his options, before making the decision to call
his wife, Joanne. However, she doesn't give an answer in
time. So, Randy then asks the audience, and 51% of them
are saying C. That is a good number, but he really wants
to be sure, so he uses the 50:50, which leaves B and C.
(22% said B.) With that, Randy trusts the audience and
says C... and he has $25,000! On to the upper tier...
[$50,000]
What type of protein, used to provide structure to
connective tissue, is the most abundant protein in the
human body?
A: Hemoglobin
B: Keratin
C: Insulin
D: Collagen
Randy takes a lot of time on this one. He considers what
each of the 4 choices are, and there's even some joking
around during this. At some point, he says he's leaning
towards D. But eventually, he finally settles for
locking in B as his final answer... but it's D! Well, at
least he had nothing to lose at this point, so he goes
home with $25,000!
Next up is Gina Grisanti (Norwalk, CT). She's a daycare
provider, and a mother. Her daughter, April, told her
that she'd pass, and obviously, she did. Now, Gina is in
the hot seat with April's lucky bracelet, and she's
playing for her daughter's education. So, with that,
Gina gets started by knowing that people jumping from
high places commonly shout, as a "battle cry",
"Geronimo". She makes it to $300...
..before the horns signal the end of this episode. Gina
will be back tomorrow. |
