Chain Reaction by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time:  9p ET/8p CT on GSN
Host: Dylan Lane
"It starts with WORD; there's a G underneath.
Guess the word GAME, and you're right; the word GAME starts a chain.
Get your letter, take a guess; connect the chain, win some cash.
It's guys against girls right now... on Chain Reaction."

The rules in theme song form.

Matt, Joe & Doug (roommates from Texas)
Randi, Alex & Kelly (members of an all-female sketch comedy troupe from New York City)

It's played like the game of the 80s... almost. Seven words. You're given the first and last words. Each word is worth money. Complete the chain reaction, move to a Speed Chain. Team with the most cash at the end goes onto the Bonus Round.

Round 1 ($100 per word): Connect the word CHAIN with the word REACTION. After dancing around a bit, Joe gets #2, SMOKE. Kelly gets #3, SIGNAL. Randi follows with #4, LIGHT. Joe spells out #5 BEER (C-Note: A no-no in previous versions; usually they would tell you that the letter completes the word). Doug completes the chain reaction with GUT for the lead, $300-$200. The chain: CHAIN - SMOKE - SIGNAL - LIGHT - BEER - GUT - REACTION. And that's how you play "Chain Reaction." Speed Chain: :07 to connect BEST with JACK using the first letter of the two words in the middle. They go BEST - WESTERN - UNION - JACK. That's right for another $100.

Round 2 ($200 per word): connect BOUNCING with STEWART. Randi gets #2, BABY. Kelly gets #6, ROD. Alex gets #3, GRAND and #4, CENTRAL. Kelly follows with the completion with CASTING to lead, $1200 to $400. The chain: BOUNCING - BABY - GRAND - CENTRAL - CASTING - ROD - STEWART. Speed Chain: connect PLYMOUTH with RIVER. The girls quickly get PLYMOUTH - ROCK - HUDSON - RIVER for $200 more.

Round 3 ($300 per word): connect CRACK with MONSTER. Doug gets #6, COOKIE. Alex gets #2, OPEN. Joe, in a complete brain move, repeats a wrong answer from the ladies, while Randi gets #3, SESAME. Doug's next: #4, STREET. Matt completes it with SMART. The chain: CRACK - OPEN - SESAME - STREET - SMART - COOKIE - MONSTER. Final Speed Chain connects CURLY with APPROVAL. They can't do it, so no extra money for them. Correct: CURLY - SHUFFLE - BOARD - APPROVAL. Women lead, $2000-$1300.

Round 4 sees players bet between $100 and $500 on each letter. Connect CRY with B. Joe loses $100, but Kelly gets $100 on #2, WOLF. The ladies lose $100, and the guys lose $100, while Alex gets $500 on #3, WHISTLE. Ladies lose $100, and the guys lose $500, while Randi spells out #6, PLAN for $500 more. Alex gets $200 on #4, WHISTLE. Kelly loses $500, while Joe loses $500. End result: Randi gets $500 more for PAYMENT for the win, $3100-$100.  The chain: CRY - WOLF - WHISTLE - STOP - PAYMENT - PLAN - B.

Bonus Round is the original from 1980: the ladies will have construct a sentence a word at a time. Get seven right, the $3100 is doubled. Get ten, the money is tripled. Yes, it's the game that made "Go". The ladies get braces, the Internet, Angelina Jolie, coffee, trampoline, lawnmower, spatula, Eminem, and gynecologist for nine and $6200.

"Thanks for watching Chain Reaction. Reaction time. Time flies. I'm Dylan Lane. See ya!"

¿Qué Dice La Gente? by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time:  7p ET/6p CT on Telefutura
Host: Marco Antonio Regil
Marin (Alex, Monica, Carla, Felipe, Dolly)
Largaespada (Maria Jose, Marta, Roger, Emy, Sergio); $500

¿Qué Dice La Gente? VIP continues in the second half, but first...

After three rounds, the Marins lead, 150-85. Double round coming: a reason why a woman wears makeup (3). To look beautiful is #1 for Felipe. Dolly gets #2, to hide scars. We go to the Largaespadas for the steal... to flirt? No! Marins win, 336-85! Other answer: because you're ugly. Harsh.

Alex & Dolly go for Dinero Rápido... Alex draws from the table... "buena suerte." Alex gets 110 thanks to a big number one. Dolly follows by getting 185. Close, but only worth $500 today.

Now back to the reason for this special week.

Diana Reyes y Su Grupo (Diana, Efren, Raimundo, Misael, Chuy), playing for St. Jude Children's Hospital; one game, $10,000
REIK (Jesus, Cris, Julio, Coco, Bibi), playing for CAOBA

Diana Reyes y Su Grupo lead this special week, one game to nil. Can REIK come back to tie it up? They lead 182-72 after three. Double round: something you count (4). Misael gets number, #2. Money is #1 for Coco. Stories and fingers are good to sweep to win, 372-72.

Coco & Bibi take it to the DR board for CAOBA. Together, they only manage 163.

Starface by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time:  9:30p ET/8:30p CT on GSN
Host: Danny Bonaduce
Karyn Nubille (marine biology teacher from Los Angeles)
Ward Perell (huge karaoke fan from Birmingham, AL)
Jenn Gurman (accounts payable manager from Studio City, CA)

Think what would happen if they turned "Best Week Ever" into a game show. That's pretty much what this show amounts to. You identify incriminating, unfettered, and otherwise wrong pictures of celebrities and answer more questions relating to those. Right answers are worth 50 in round 1.

Round 1: Four questions on Katie Holmes and four on Kevin Spacey lead us to a "Celebrity Train Wreck". "Stop or my mom will shoot... Botox by the gallon!" They fail to get Jackie Stallone. Last pic of the round: Johnny Depp. After that bit of happy fun, War leads it, 300 to Karyn's 200 and Jenn's 50.

Round 2: Points are doubled. Questions focus on Nicolette Sheridan before we go "Below the Beltway", when we see the.. errm, bulge, of a famous figure. The clues are: "Operation Trouserstorm", "a four-star package", and "I have your vial of anthrax right here". It's Colin Powell. Next up, "Mug Shot". Today, it's Mick Jagger. After that, another break in the action with Karyn and Ward tied with 600 a pop to Jenn's 150.

Round 3: Points are doubled AGAIN! This time, we're roleplaying like they do on PTI in Seinfeld masks. Answers are in first-person. After that round, we're tied, 1400 a piece for Karyn & Ward. Jenn, with 150, is unfortunately out of the game. Tiebreaker question: "It took a while for you to finally find out, but once you did, what was Kramer's first name?" That's Karyn. "Cosmo!" Winner!

Bonus Round for a trip to Cabo San Lucas: it's very simple. Sixty seconds. Ten questions on two pictures. Basically, you want to match a statement with one of the pictures. Today, it's Sawyer from "Lost" and Tom Sawyer. Lost... or Tom. It takes Karyn 48 seconds, but she gets 10 right for the big trip.
