Host: Alex Trebek |
|
|
Celeste DiNucci
(grad student from Philadelphia); $12,800 |
|
Alex Hunnicutt
(computer programmer from Arlington, TX) |
|
Steve Bingo
(library assistant orig. from Seattle) |
Surely Alex has a bit of
an advantage being named after the host, but how much?
Let's see...
Celeste continues her
reign as $200 The Daily Show. But Alex, in the
lead with $2200, finds the Daily Double early under $800
Mesopotamia. He bets $1500 on this clue: they settled
Mesopotamia around 3500 BC & brought in some good idea,
like civilization & writing. "Who are the Sumerians?"
Right for $3700!
At the end of the round,
Steve is... well, he's out of the red, but now he's back
at zero. Celeste is at $2000, while Alex is in the lead
with $3500. But back to Steve, who starts Double
Jeopardy!...
... with $400 US Cities.
Celeste finds the Daily Double under $1600 Blame It on
the Reign. She bets $3000 on this: ... of this English
monarch, who made a truce with Saladin, ceding him
Jerusalem. "Who is Richard I?" Right for $6200. Not long
after, Steve finds the second Daily Double under $800
First-Person Narrators. He blows the wad on this: "It
was when curiosity about Gatsby was at its highest that
the lights in his house failed to go on..." "Who is Nick
Carraway?" That... would've gotten him the doubler. Back
at zero. The final clue goes unclaimed as Alex leads it,
$12,300 to Celeste's $8600 and Steve's $400.
Final Jeopardy! in "NYC Ticker-Tape Parade Honorees":
of the 3 men honored Aug. 13, 1969, the one who spent
part of July 20 miles from the other two. Correct
question: Who was Michael Collins?
No one goes with the
right answer, but Celeste holds back to win with
$18,001. |

Host: Marco Antonio Regil |

Sanchez
(Marlene, Jessie, Omar, Viviana, Carlos) from the
softest part of Los Angeles... Downey. |
|
Silva (Cecil,
Jennifer, Gaby, Maria, Alvaro) |
It's Gaby's birthday, and
she'd like to celebrate it with a win. They're on the
right track after four, leading, 216-133.
Triple Round: other than soccer,
another sport played on a grass field (3). Carlos goes with
football for #2. Alvaro gets #3, golf. Marlene plays spoiler,
though, as she gets the final answer, the most popular answer...
baseball. Sanchez win, 397-216.
The two "smarties" Viviana and
Carlos take on the Dinero
Rápido board. They get close, but 189 is only good for $500 on
this show...
Maybe they'll have better luck
against the champs in part 2.

Sanchez
(Marlene, Jessie, Omar, Viviana, Carlos); $500 |
|
Brito
(Yula, Jose, Xiolimar, Carlos, Javier); $1000 |
We go out on a double
round this time. The question: something that keeps you
looking young (4). Facial treatments are #1 for Viviana.
The rest of the family comes up with exercise and eating
well. But the Britos steal the game with plastic surgery
for the win, 347-75.
Javier & Carlos go on to Dinero Rápido,
but first, the fruitbasket of doom spells out... a $500
bonus! Money for nothing! As for the board, Carlos gets
93. Javier gets the family to... 171. That's another
$500 for another game won, giving them $2000 for two
days. |
