Sidney Tison
(veterinarian from Suwanee, GA); $13,400 |
|
John Hooper
(archaeologist from Tempe, AZ) |
|
Jennifer Casey
(high school drama teacher orig. from Sonoma,
CA) |
Not a big payday for
Sidney yesterday, but today is another day.
Sidney starts with $200
Rhyme Giver. After Cheryl acts on a stage with a chair.
Jennifer takes the lead at the TV time out, $3800 to
Sidney's $2400 and John's $600.
Jennifer's at $6000 when
she finds the Daily Double under $400 A Day in June. She
fronts $1000 on this: June 5, 1851: later a novel, this
serial begins a 10-month run in the National Era, an
abolitionist newspaper. "What is Uncle Tom's Cabin?"
That... would've given her $7000. Instead, Huck Finn
drops her to $5000, still leading. She remains in the
lead at the half at $5600 to Sidney's $2000. John, with
$1800, goes first in Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400
"Ite"s Not in the Bible, with Jennifer finding the Daily
Double under $1600. She bets $1000 on the result of a
retrognathism. "What is... I don't know." It's an
overbite, leaving her with $5800. She has another shot
with $800 Musical Instruments. She bets $600 on one with
bellows. "What is the accordion?" Nope. Jennifer's
0-for-three on Daily Doubles with $10,400. She builds
back to $11,600 for the lead against Sidney's $10,400
and John's $7000.
Final Jeopardy! in "Colleges & Universities":
the main green of this university includes statues of
Ira Allen, its founder, & Lafayette, who visited in
1825. Correct question: What is Vermont?
We have another triple
stumper, as Jennifer bets enough to win with $6600.
Sidney leaves with $15,400. |

Lugo
(Sonia, Guillermo, Jaime, Gabriel, Adrian); $500 |
Can the Lugos snap the DR
skid today?
Round 1: something men do
in the morning that cavemen didn't do
(7). That's Sonia... "Afeitarse." Shaving.. #3!
Bathing... #2. Alvaro wins the faceoff. Celmira, after
two failed attempts, brushes it off (and her teeth) for
#1. Combing their hair is also up there, but what about
the newspaper? It's there for 62. Other answers: have
coffee, exercise.
Round 2: a reason why you
think cats chase mice (6).
Guillermo hits top of the board for "for food." For
their smell, for fun, instinct, and for size follow. The
Ocampos can't steal, giving the Lugos 148. Other answer:
they're enemies.
Round 3: a place where
kids say that there are monsters (5). Daniel gets #1,
the closet. Diana gets under the bed. The Lugos try
stealing with "underneath the sheets"... Not there!
Ocampos get 65. Other answers: in the woods, in a cave,
in the dark.
Double Round: specifically something you do when your
neighbors make too much noise (4). Daniel calls them up
for #2. Sonia calls the fuzz, the feds, the cops, the
man, 5-0, John Law, you get the picture, for #1. Ocampos
need the steal to stay alive. They go with "lower the
volume"... Not there! Lugos win, 306-65. Other answer:
close the door, get angry.
Dinero Rápido: Today,
it's Gabriel and Adrian. Gabriel scores 99. Can Adrian
score the other 101? No. He only gets 44 for $500 more,
giving them $1000 for two days.

Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire by Don Harpwood, GSNN

Last time, we saw Steven
Strafford (Astoria, NY) reach the $2,000 level. What
level will he get to this time?
Steven is often compared to a muppet by his friends, and
it's easy to see why, seeing how he acts here. Well,
now, he gets to continue his dream of being on a game
show, and with that, the game resumes. Soon enough, he
faces this...
[$8,000]
Because he was the 42nd U.S. president, whose
presidential library features an eatery named Café 42?
A: Jimmy Carter
B: Ronald Reagan
C: George H.W. Bush
D: Bill Clinton
Steven asks the audience, and both polls favour D (68%
of the studio audience; 45% of the AIM users). Steven
was thinking that, so he goes with it... and it's D!
Moving on...
[$16,000]
Imitating Tom Cruise, what actress jumped up on the
couch on "Ellen" in 2005 while discussing her beau,
Stuart Townsend?
A: Halle Berry
B: Charlize Theron
C: Uma Thurman
D: Keira Knightley
Steven decides to call his friend, Marsha, and she's
pretty sure (as in 80% sure) it's B. Steven goes with
that... and it's B! Next question...
[$25,000]
Marcel Duchamp's famous 1917 sculpture "Fountain"
consists of what solitary object?
A: Urinal
B: Leaky faucet
C: Syringe
D: Garden hose
The 50:50 leaves A and B. Steven doesn't feel like
taking a chance, though, so he decides to walk. Judging
by his reaction upon seeing that it was A, I'd guess
he's glad he took the $16,000!
Next up is Candee Homer (Leesburg, FL). She likes to
carry candy in her purse, to give away to others.
Considering her name, I'd say that seems fitting. And I
think she seems deserving of a lot of money. So, with
that, Candee starts by knowing that in radio lingo,
"affirmative" and "negative" are commonly used instead
of yes and no (though if it was joe and mama, then I
could see it now; "Affirmative negative's so fat...").
She sweeps the lower tier, then has this to ponder...
[$2,000]
Which of these fractions is highest in value?
A: 4/7
B: 3/5
C: 2/3
D: 5/8
The 50:50 leaves B and C. After a bit of thought, Candee
says C... and she's right! Another question later, and
this pops up...
[$8,000]
Because she plays a domestic diva on TV, what star
appeared on the premiere of Martha Stewart's talk show?
A: Lisa Kudrow
B: Marcia Cross
C: Jane Kaczmarek
D: Kelly Ripa
Candee considers each option, then asks the audience,
but there's a difference of opinion. The studio poll is
leaning towards B (75%; 27%), but the AIM poll is
leaning towards D (15%; 35%). Nonetheless, Candee trusts
the studio audience, going with B... and they're right!
Still going...
[$16,000]
What author's previously unknown play, "Beat
Generation," was found in a New Jersey warehouse in
2004?
A: Ralph Ellison
B: Allen Ginsberg
C: William S. Burroughs
D: Jack Kerouac
Candee calls a pastor, Art, but the best he can do is a
guess of B. So, with that, Candee decides to walk with
$8,000. Good thing she didn't go with B; it was D.
That will do it for today. A new player will sit in the
hot seat tomorrow. |
