Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire by Don Harpwood, GSNN
Air time: Check listings or
millionairetv.com
Host: Meredith Vieira |
|
Millionaire's trip to Walt
Disney World continues, and Amy Low (Greenwood, IN), who
had reached $25,000 yesterday, is back for more today.
Amy says the only place she had seen that much money
before yesterday's show was on her student loan. She
plans on using the money to pay off that loan, plus she
has a wedding coming up, so she could use some more for
that. With that, the game resumes, and after getting to
$50,000 without much of a problem, she faces this...
[$100,000]
What explorer, who landed on the Australian coast in
1770, was the first to record the word "kangaroo"?
A: Vasco da Gama
B: Ferdinand Magellan
C: James Cook
D: Francis Drake
Amy calls her high school history teacher, Sandy, and
though she says she's not sure at first, she says that C
is the only one that she knows was at least in
Australia. Amy doesn't see that as enough help, though,
so she plays it safe, and switches the question. It
turns out that it was C, after all, but now, she faces a
new question...
[$100,000] (Q)
What White House official's initials are also an
abbreviation for his job title?
A: Donald Rumsfeld
B: Dick Cheney
C: Alberto Gonzales
D: John Snow
Amy says that C is the Attorney General, so she goes
with C... and she's right! Next question...
[$250,000]
What was the real name of the Greek philosopher Plato?
A: Theodorus
B: Aristocles
C: Glaucus
D: Leucippus
Amy hasn't studied enough philosophy, unfortunately, so
she walks with $100,000! We then see that it was B.
The next player is Pam Peck (Port Charlotte, FL), who
gets a hug from Donald Duck just after sitting in the
hot seat. She was once a deputy, but she is now retired.
So, I guess this is for some extra retirement money,
then. Pam starts by knowing that in the U.S.,
televisions are now almost universally sold with a
remote control (though if there were such a thing as a
RoboDad, it would probably require one anyway). She gets
through the lower tier, then eventually gets to this...
[$16,000]
As of 2006, the FDA is requiring Nutrition Facts labels
to include what additional category?
A: Trans fats
B: Lactose
C: Antioxidants
D: Electrolytes
The 50:50 leaves A and C. Pam says A... and she's right!
Moving on...
[$25,000]
Which of the following is the name of a team in the WNBA
and not the NBA?
A: Toronto Raptors
B: Charlotte Bobcats
C: Houston Comets
D: Memphis Grizzlies
Pam asks the audience, and both polls favor C (58% of
the studio audience; 39% of the AIM users). Pam trusts
them... and she has $25,000! Then, she trusts her first
instinct on the $50,000 question, and gets it!
That's all the time she'll have for today, though. Pam
will attempt to make a lot more money tomorrow. |
