Jeopardy! by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time:  Check listings or jeopardy.com
Host: Alex Trebek
William Lee (software engineer from South San Francisco, CA); $62,500, two days
Kathy Lisiewicz (project coordinator from Los Angeles)
Dan Lee (training officer from Las Vegas)

Two Lees and a Lisiewicz enter the field of trivial combat, but only one will end up champion. As for the two Lees.... "He's my twin brother." Sure he is, Dan.

William starts with $200 We Have the Technology. The other Lee, Dan, finds the Daily Double under $1000 Churches & Cathedrals. He bets the max of $1000 on another Lee... Kel-lee. Okay, that was bad. Here's Kelly with the clue: "John Petts, who illustrated many Dylan Thomas poems, designed this gift for the 16th Street Baptist Church, from the people of this country." "What is Liberia?" No, it was Wales, and Dan is $800 under.

At the second half of the Jeopardy! round, Kathy comes alive, getting $4500 at the end of it to William's $2400. Dan, still in the red by $600, gets to go first in Double Jeopardy!...

... with another theme round (Elton John songs). Dan chooses $400 Rocket Man, finding the Daily Double under $1600. He bets $2500 on this: in 1980 Soyuz 38 carried the first Hispanic man in space, Arnaldo Tamayo-Mendez of this country. "What is Cuba?" Correct for $5500. Dan finds the second under $1200 Circle of Life. He bets $2700 on this: its name is from the middle English for "an object of religious veneration." "I have not a clue." It was a relic, giving Dan $2000. He'll end this round at $2800 to William's $6000, but it's Kathy's game to lose with $14,200.

Final Jeopardy! in "The Early 1900s": these 2 nations fought a war on neither nation's soil; the decisive battle came at present-day Shen-yang. Correct question: What are Russia and Japan?

Dan loses on a technicality, William loses making what was for all intents and purposes a wussy wager. Kathy wins with $16,200. William leaves with $64,500.

Lingo by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time:  7:30p ET/6:30p CT on GSN
Host: Chuck Woolery & Shandi Finnessey
Couple Jen (currently a court reporting student) & Steve (car broker)
Couple Shera (local casino corporation banker) & Michael (mover)
BONUS LINGO JACKPOT: $14,000

Jen & Steve start us on the road to $14,000 with a U. Shera & Michael are big fans of USHER for 25. Jen & Steve return the favor by stealing PESTO for 25. They follow with KIOSK, but Shera & Michael steal a FATAL move to tie. Jen & Steve go for BOZOS for the steal, whilst they find new ways to not convert the Lingo. They follow with IGLOO, and finally Lingo for the lead, 150-50.

Shera & Michael get an M when Jen & Steve get a new board for round 2. Jen & Steve steal MERCY for 50 after a long fought board. They follow with ANVIL and BASTE... and for the first time today, a red ball. Shera & Michael are done with their comeback effort before they start. Jen & Steve ride COLTS to a win, 350-50.

With two Bonus Lingo letters, Jen & Steve get MODEM and VEGAN for two balls and $200. It only takes one for $14,000... 43 on the first. Jen comes up with... 31. Now she needs 43 and 37. Steve gets... 51. So all they're left with is $200.

Next time, a cool $15,000.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire by Don Harpwood, GSNN

Air time:  Check listings or millionairetv.com
Host: Meredith Vieira
Last time, Dave Ley (Manakin Sabot, VA) reached $25,000, but had to use the first 3 lifelines to get there. He now has the 4th, but will it be enough?

Dave's wife, Susan, was in a hotel yesterday, but presumably since he has used his Phone-A-Friend lifeline, she's in the audience now. She's excited, since as part of a deal between the two, they split the money evenly. So, with that in mind, the game resumes...

[$50,000]
Martin Luther King Jr.'s historic March on Washington took place during what month of 1963?
A: March
B: June
C: August
D: October

Dave has an idea, but he decides to switch it out. He thought it was B, but it's C, so this was a good switch. Now, he has this to ponder...

[$50,000] (Q)
Philip Pirrip is the full name of the hero in what Charles Dickens novel?
A: A Tale of Two Cities
B: Great Expectations
C: Bleak House
D: Hard Times

Knowing that this is a free guess, Dave, after some consideration, says A... but it's B! Hey, at least he takes home $25,000 ($12,500 for him, and $12,500 for his wife)!

Next in the hot seat is Chris Ford (West Lafayette, IN), who wants to fly commercial jets upon graduating from Purdue. He also plans to go all the way; he wants the million bucks! But he then says he might stop at some point, because he doesn't want to look like a hypocrite. Well, I guess we'll just have to see what happens, then. Chris starts by knowing that a famous recruitment poster features a pointing Uncle Sam and the message "I Want You for U.S. Army" (maybe Seven Minutes in Heaven would have been more effective; who knows). He sweeps the lower tier, then eventually faces this...

[$8,000]
What classic rock opera is based on a 1964 clash between two British gangs named the Mods and the Rockers?
A: Hair
B: Tommy
C: The Wall
D: Quadrophenia

Chris asks the audience, but the results are mixed. The studio audience poll has D at 37%, with C at only 8%. But the AIM poll has C at 36%, with D at only 18%. After some thought, Chris decides to go with the studio audience, saying D... and it's D! And soon enough, he gets through the middle tier, locking in $25,000! After that, he gets to this...

[$50,000]
During the Civil War era, what was the last U.S. state to secede from the Union and the first to rejoin it?
A: Texas
B: Tennessee
C: North Carolina
D: Arkansas

The 50:50 leaves B and C. Chris goes for it and says B... and he's right! Moving on...

[$100,000]
Rubies are red primarily because they contain trace amounts of what metal?
A: Chromium
B: Manganese
C: Nickel
D: Potassium

He has an inclination, but Chris is not confident enough, so he switches it out. He was thinking A, and that's what it turned out to be. Oh well; he now gets another question...

[$100,000] (Q)
What scientist's lesser-known achievements include developing a vaccine for rabies?
A: Louis Pasteur
B: Jonas Salk
C: Alexander Fleming
D: Edward Jenner

Chris has another inclination, and this time, he goes for it. He says A... and he's right!

And there's the horn. Chris is 3 questions away from the million. He still has the Phone-A-Friend available. Will he go all the way? We'll find out tomorrow!
