Doc Hamilton
(advanced customer care agent from Nashville);
$14,401 |
|
Chrissy Hoffman
(non-profit director from Ponte Vedra Beach, FL) |
|
Craig Mobley
(switchboard manager from Albuquerque, NM) |
We used this header
before, but... Chrissy, Craig... the Doc will see you
now.
Ben starts his third game with $200
Gluttony in a round of categories based on the seven
deadly sins. Craig proves to be quite deadly indeed with
$5400 at the time out to Chrissy's $200. Doc is $600 in
the red.
Doc finds the Daily
Double under $800 NV. He bets the max of $1000 on this:
this current leader in the Senate became the youngest
Lt. Governor in Nevada history at the age of 30. "Who is
I have no idea?" Harry Reid drops Doc further down to
-$1600. He rebounds to -$600 and a tie with Chrissy.
Craig is the aggressor with $8400. Closest to Alex gets
first start in Double Jeopardy!... That's Doc with the
honor...
... with $400 A Litter of
Alliteration. Chrissy finds the first Daily Double under
$1600. With only $600, she bets the max of $2000 on
this: from a poem by Robert Browning, it now has come to
mean anyone who makes irresponsible promises. "I'm sure
I'll know it when I hear it." It was the Pied Piper, as
Chrissy drops to -$1400. Craig finds the other one under
$1200 Altar Ego. He bets $2400 on this: the first 10
important leaders of the Sikh faith were known by this
title meaning "teacher". "What is imam?" It was guru,
leaving Craig still in the lead with $10,000. That's
where he'll end, as Chrissy has $4600 to Doc's $4200.
Looks like a battle for second as we come to...
Final Jeopardy!
in "Famous Photographs": Alberto Korda,
Castro's official photographer, is best known for an
image of this man seen on countless shirts & posters.
Correct question: Who is Che Guevara?
It's all about Craig, who
wins it with $10,000. Doc leaves with $16,401. |

It's the end of March, and
Teresa Whitener, Blake Browder, Judith Gerding, and Rosa
Velazquez look to score a dual trike to start our day
off right. It costs $1299, and it goes to Judith, as
does a Credit Card for which to shop for ladies' golf
equipment, a fireplace, cordless telephones, a floor
clock, and serveware. Her credit limit: $1800. She goes
with the phones first at $445. Then the golf pack at
$720. With $635 left, she goes with the fireplace... and
over she goes with $1300. Should've gone with the
serveware. Mary
Ellen Cole is down and up in round 2 thanks to a $999
home theatre sound system. She gets to shoot the dice
for a Chevrolet Cobalt. First number: 1. She shoots: 5,
3, 4, 3. She goes lower, exacta, lower, and
higher. Second number... 4. Fourth number: 5. Darn. She
loses out on the $14,354.
Katy Daniel is down and
up in round 3 thanks to a $517 chandelier. The
softballer from Illinois College now gets a shot at a
trip to Rio playing Cliff Hangers. She thinks a scrub
mop is $15. Actual price: $12. That's three. She thinks
a hot drink maker is $25. It's $38, putting Hans in
jeopardy with nine steps to go until the top. Final
prize: a jewelry box. She goes with $40... and it's $50.
Medic! While Hans treats his wounds, Katy treats herself
to a spot in the Showcase, winning the Showdown round.
Rosa finally breaks the
skid with an $830 Pilates machine. She gets a shot at a
dining room group with dinnerware. The game is Now or
Then. Now: Today. Then: August 1998. Products: Nature
Valley granola bars, Westbrae Natural organic beans,
Viactiv chews, Altoids, Mylanta classic, and Colgate
toothpaste. She starts with the toothpaste, marked
$2.39. She says then, and she's right! Then it's onto
the granola bars at $3.29. That's now, according to
Rosa, and she's right again. She goes with the beans at
99c. She goes then... and it's now. Last up, the Mylanta
at $6.29. She goes now... and wins!
Blake also gets his
jollies on stage thanks to a $1568 washer/dryer. He gets
a shot to Line Up an electric guitar ($849), a voice
recorder ($58), and a wine server cart ($826). For what?
How about a Chevrolet HHR? He lines up $18,568. Two
right. Then, it's $19,568. Not it. It was $18,528.
Last chance for Teresa
comes with a pair of ski equipment. Price: $2595.
Winner... Matt Dudik, one of Bob's Best Buds. His prize:
a sauna. His game: Double PRices. His choice: between
$6990 or $5245. He goes with $5245... and he's got a
sauna! He also has a spot in the Showcase opposite Katy.
First up, a visit from
Monica the Meddler with a brass bed with sleep set, an
Apple Mac, and a Pontiac Grand Prix. Top winner Matt
passes to Katy, who bids $23,000. Matt meanwhile goes to
the First Bank of Price to take away a coffee/espresso
machine, an LCD TV, and two waverunners. He bids $7000.
Actual price: $19,897. Difference, almost $13,000.
Actual price of Katy's Showcase: $31,630. She wins with
$32,647.
Stats: 2-4, $49,073. |

One more trip to a World

On the Map. Scientist Scott Myrand of Hamburg, MI gets
GENEVA SWITZERLAND for $1000, beating out mom Charlene
Johnson of Las Vegas and business owner Melinda
Chagnon of Chula Vista, CA.
Second tossup is an Event.
Melinda gets what tomorrow is, APRIL FOOL'S DAY for
$2000. She'll spin for a $6600 Taos, NM vacation
first. First up, a Phrase. Melinda owns the wheel,
getting a $1000 GC from Bowflex and $5300 cash from
IT'S NOT POLITE TO STARE. So far, she's got $8300.
Meineke Jackpot Round
is On the Menu... and a Prize Puzzle! Scott spins out
bankrupt. Charlene misses. And Melinda has the Wheel
again. And she misses. Scott solves BANANA MACADAMIA
PANCAKES for $1300. Those'll make a great breakfast in
Hawaii! It's worth $6500! And you're joining him if
you have Spin ID PF01180. Scott has the lead with
$8806.
$10,000 on offer in the
Mystery Round. The category: Same Name. And
immediately, Charlene ends up in Mystery Territory
with two N's. Charlene will not risk the $2000... good
move, it was a bankrupt. She also gets the Taos trip
wedge in her run, but it all goes away with a Bankrupt
spin. Melinda solves WITNESS PROTECTION & GET WITH THE
PROGRAM for $1400. She retakes the lead with $9700.
Third tossup is Around
the House. Scott gets $3000 from OSCILLATING FAN. He
gets to start the next round, a thing. Scott spins out
$15,000 from three T's at $5000 a pop. But alas, he
loses the wheel, and gets it back... solving
CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION for $16,600, $28,406 so far...
Let's get another
puzzle up here... it's a Person. After some regular
play, we go to a speed round with $1350 for each
consonant. Scott wins by solving AMATEUR ASTRONOMER
with $31,806. Melinda has $9700. Charlene gets the
house minimum of $1000.
Can Scott take Bonus
Land for $100,000 tonight? After taking the wrong card
(and subsequently getting the right one), he's given
the standard package and the option for four more with
a Thing to work from. He picks CKM A and gets...
_ _ _ N _
L _ _ E
No love. Or in this
case, YOUNG LOVE. He loses out on the Infiniti G35.
But still, $31,806 is not hay.
Next week, we salute
the Armed Forces.
