Lewis (Danielle,
Shannon, Shirley, Alfred, Jo); $575 |
|
Dickey (Danielle,
Coryn, Michelle, Stephanie, Kristen) |
Five sisters take on the
champs today. We start with dueling Danielle...
Round 1: something a
really bad bank robber might leave behind (6). Danielle
L. takes #6, a picture, while Danielle D. gets number
one with ID. Fingerprints, the money, and a gun also
make the board, while the Lewises try to steal with the
getaway car... Not there, the Dickeys get 92. Other
answer: glove.
Round 2: something that
reminds you of San Francisco (5). Shannon gets #2, the
Golden Gate Bridge, whilst Coryn stifles out
homosexuals... No surprise, it's not there. Jo gets
number one with trolley cars. The Dickeys try to steal
with the corner of Haight & Asbury... And the Lewises
take the 73! Other answers: Rice-a-Roni, fog, hills.
Double Round: a phrase
that uses the words "out of" (full board). Shirley gets
#6 with "out of control". Jo gets his second number one
with "out of time". Danielle gets "out of money".The
Dickeys try to steal with "out of breath"... And the
Dickeys have 133! Other answers: Out of your mind, out
of sight, out of gas.
Triple Round: a reason
kids might not be able to go outside (4). Alfred
gets #3, has a cold. Jo gets #2, grounded. Danielle
thinks it's too dangerous for #4. The weather sweeps the
board and wins the game, 415-92, for the Lewises.
Shannon trades Alfred in
for Danielle to play Fast Money. Unfortunately, they
only get 96 for $480, a two-day total of $1055.

James Washick (professor
from Greenville, SC); $20,801 |
|
Eric Heaton
(software engineer orig. from St. Cloud, MN) |
|
Kate Miller (human
resources assistant from Oxnard, CA) |
James was a fierce
opponent last time. If he continues with that though, he
could repeat today. He starts with $200 Snow Business
Like Show Business. Kate ties James' $2800 when she
finds the Daily Double under $1000 Here Comes the "Sun".
She bets $1800 on this: from the Middle English for
"apart", this term tends to follow the words ripped or
torn. "What is asunder?" Right for $4600!
The rest of the round
turns into a pissing contest between James (who ends
with $5400) and Kate ($6800). Eric, with $2600, gets to
start Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400 Women
Athletes. James finds the Daily Double under $1600
Closing the Book. He bets $3000 here: Steinbeck: "And
Carlson said, 'Now what the hell ya suppose is eatin'
them two guys?'" "What is 'Of Mice and Men'?" Right for
$10,800. Last clue is $2000 The Middle Ages... and it
belongs to Kate. She gets a shot to add onto her lead
going into the final, as she bets $1200 on Sir Henry
Percy's nickname. "What is the Giant?" Nope, it was
Hotspur. She ends the round with $12,000 to James'
$11,200. Eric has $4200.
Final Jeopardy!
in "The Technology Sector": if you'd invested
$84 for 4 shares of this company at its Mach 13, 1986
IPO, you'd have 1,152 shares and $30,124.80 as of
January 1, 2006. Correct response: What is Microsoft?
James.... wrong with IBM.
Kate... also wrong with Amgen. But she wagers enough to
be left with $9500 to win the game. James leaves with
$21,801. |

"March Madness" doesn't have
anything on the madness that happens in 7800 every day.
Here's what went down today.
Laura Madden, Michelle Papolardo, William De Marza, Jr.,
and Simon Sorgi took a shot at a Juliana aluminum frame
greenhouse, valued at $1388. Simon snagged it with a
$1200 bid, and took his place next to Bob at the Big
Doors for Switch?. The swag: a Dell XPS desktop
computer, marked at $1320 and a Flexsteel Radford
recliner, marked at $2243. Simon wanted to switch, and,
using a play on his name, Bob insisted that Simon say,
"Simon says, Switch." Shane and Lanisha gladly obliged
and switched the prices. Did he win? Simon says, Start
the day with a winner!
Next, Laura makes her way on stage winning a Clarion
NICE in-car navigation/entertainment system, worth
$1400. She then took a few punches at $10G's. Missing a
stand mixer (marked $120, called higher, $99), she swept
thru a $30 pocket backgammon game, a $57 rechargeable
toothbrush, and a $50 walnut jewelry box, earning three
punches. Her first shot, in hole 14, nets her $500 and a
second chance. Her second chance, hole 17, netted her an
additional $50. She turned down the $550 to look in hole
39. That held only $50, so she continued to hole 42.
After a long stretching routine from Bob (he wanted to
be comfortable before he opened the slip), he revealed a
win of...$100. For her efforts on the IUFB, she picked
up a supply of Super Poli-Grip as well.
To finish off the half, contestant Margie Antar won her
way *back* on stage with a Rosenthal Empress crystal
stemware set, worth $1680. I say back on stage because,
when she was called an act prior, she pranced up on
stage and when Bob asked her why those other three in
the Row were down there, she said, and I quote, "All the
older people have to be on a platform!" Well, she's up
on a higher platform now, the Turntable to be specific,
to play Cover Up for a Ford Focus ZX3SE. After not
knowing initially how to take the tiles out of the
higher slots and "cover up" the ones below, she covered
up $24,325 with $16,482 and WON WITH HER FIRST TRY!!
However, her tenure didn't last long as she lost a
Spin-off to Laura, who advanced to the Showcases. Margie
did pick up supply of Jelly Belly with her stemware.
The second half kicked off with Daryl Anderson, a USMC
about to go to Iraq, bidding exactly for a pair of
Yamaha Acoustic Guitars (with a supply of Skin Zinc for
Psoriasis) valued at $600. He picked up the $500 stash
(as well as a kiss from Shane in an earlier act) to play
Check-Out for an Ashley Casa Malino bedroom group,
including Royal Duchess from Comfortaire, valued at
$7373. The products: Udderly Smooth foot cream (guessed
$2.00), Windex Multi-Task Line (guessed $4.00), TRESemme
hair spray (guessed $3.00), St. Joseph aspirin pouch
(guessed $6.00), and a large size Space Bag (guessed
$3.50). His total came to $18.50, keeping mainly in
round numbers. Here's how the groceries came out:
Foot Cream = 97¢
Windex = $3.00
Hair spray = $3.99
Aspirin = 99¢
Space Bag = $5.99
Actual total came to $14.94, for a difference of $3.56
and a loss. Hey, at least he got a kiss from Shane.
Another perfect bid came from contestant Maryann Jameson
on a $999 Wizard gumball machine. Her game: One Away for
a Chevy Malibu LS Sedan. The price was NOT $28,443. Her
first guess landed her at $17,534 and only two HONK's.
She changed the 7, 5, and 4 to form $19,332.
Unfortunately, the price was $17,352. She had to change
the last three numbers instead of jumping around like
she did.
Finally, Jessica Williams wins her way out of the Row
off an Overbid with a Stress Less home gym (complete
with Renuzit Airlets air freshener) worth $610. She has
to determine whether she's Coming or Going for a Master
Spas 6-person Cape Cod spa. It's either $5998 or $8995.
She's going with $8995 after asking how many people the
spa seated, and won the spa. Unfortunately, she didn't
get any further, spinning only 65¢ against Maryann's
80¢.
In the Showcases, the Top Winner: Laura, the Runner-Up:
Maryann. On we go.
For the first Showcase, Lanisha, our intrepid aviator is
flying around the world reporting on what she sees.
First she sees poker chips, which leads to a trip to
Vegas. Next, she sees tea, for a trip to London.
Finally, she notices chopsticks, for a trip to China.
Laura passed it to Maryann, who bid $14,250.
The second Showcase contained a Broyhill Tropical
Retreat living room with S&S Mills carpeting, an
assortment of Rocky Mountain Sunscreens, and a HoverJet
GT hovercraft with trailer. Laura bid $18,525.
Starting with Laura, the ARP of her Showcase: $23,083
for a difference of $4558. Not bad. Maryann's ARP:
$17,300 for a difference of $3050. She is our grand
winner today with $18,799 in trips and gumballs.
STATS: 3/6; $54,254.
T-MAC NOTE: Is this a record for IUFB product plugs?
FOUR different groceries were offered today. |
