Who's up for a Tug of War
to start the show? We get a Tug of War with all of the
Mega Match hunks, divided between Green and Yellow.
After 4 matches, it winds up in a 2-2 tie. Each team
gets 30 seconds. After all that, we don't see the
colleges play at all. Whoopie.
We finally do get to see them compete in the Joust.
The score - 20-19, in favor of Yellow. That's one of
the tighter matches that we've had in a while.
What also promises to be tight? The pyramid
competition, where the teams have to compete to get on
a block in the quickest amount of time. The yellow
team gets it done in 16.7 seconds. The green team gets
it done in...20.4 seconds. We get one more chance for
both teams. The Yellow team can't improve their time,
as they get it done in 18 seconds. The Green Team has
a second chance, and their time is...15.4 seconds. The
last chance for both teams has the Yellow team clock
in at 14.6 seconds and the Green team clock in
at...16.8 seconds. Total time taken - Green Team -
52.6 seconds. Yellow team - 49.3 seconds. Less time
taken to get up the block means more time added to the
bonus round for the Yellow team.
Speaking of time, it's time for a musical concert.
Enjoy!
After the big boys got to sing, the college kids get
to do so as well as we get to MegaMatch Idol. With a
close math, the Yellow team gets his singer to last
for 24 seconds. The Green team's crooner has his not
last for...only 9? That gives the Yellow team an 8-3
win and yet another 2 minutes to their bonus score.
Can the Green team possibly pull this out in the
Trivia Round? No they can't and they wind up with a
miserable 1:50. The Yellow team wins everything and
has a whopping 7:30 to take with them into the Bonus
Round.
However, why is it that the people with a lot of time
have massive problems with the keys? It takes Luigi,
the representative for the Yellow team, a full minute
juust to get the first door open. It takes him an
agonizing 2:20 to complete the first room, and what
seemed to be a lock for at least getting to the
motorcycle room is just going to turn into 7 minutes
of sadness. He does get the second room done in a
minute - but he hits the red stoplight and gets no DVD
player. He has 3 minutes and change into the shotglass
room - and he can't build the tower before time runs
out. So with a 7:30 time limit, all Luigi wins is a
whopping 2 blenders, 2 egg beaters and 2 irons in one
of the most pathetic bonus round runs that I have ever
witnessed.
Hopefully, the second round will be much, much better.
We start with a trip to little Red Riding Hood's
house, as the teams try to get goodies over to
grandma's and avoid the Big Bad Wolf. The Yellow team
is able to complete the course twice. The Green team
gets one of it;s players captured and can only
complete the course once, so the Yellow team once
again gets the first win.
Next up, it's domino carrying time. The teams use the
monkey bars to carry dominoes between their legs.
After 3 minutes, we see that Yellow has gotten 16
tiles...as does Green. It now goes to time...and The
Green team got it quicker, so they get the win and tie
the score.
One team is going to break that tie with Los Aguadores,
as teams race to carry water across a bridge. The tie
will be broken by...no one, as each team only gets 1
and we get a time split. It all comes down to the
time, and this time, the Green team has a masterful
trivia round. They manage to down the Yellow Team 5:00
to 3:40 and advance to the Bonus round.
Can Green in 5 minutes get further than what Yellow
could do in 7:30? Sadly, no...and he doesn't even win
the appliances, as he got redlighted. He only wins 2
television sets and 2 DVD players. This was just one
waste of 2 hours of time. Hopefully, we can do better
next week - much better.
