Williams (Ron,
Carrie, Cindy, Jackie, Danielle); $22,285, four days |
|
DiMauro
(Charity, Brandi, Gina, Dan, Terry) |
The Williamses are back
with one more go at the big money. But first, they have
to take out the challenging DiMauros.
Round 1:
something people own that they brag about being really
big (6). Charity's house beats Ron's car, 1 to 2. The
DiMauros (with Gina dancing) add on boat, but the
Williamses get it for the steal. They try college
degrees.... 79 to the DiMauros! Other answers: TV,
money/bank account, body parts.
Round 2: a food you
associate with the South (7). Carrie gets #1, chicken
wings. The champs add sweet potato pie and grits. The
DiMauros try to steal with cornbread... Not there! The
Williamses get 58. Other answers: chitlins, hush
puppies, jambalaya (said!), rice.
Double Round: besides
another person, something else you've kissed (5). Gina
hits the money answer with a dog. Charity saves it with
the floor. The Williamses kiss dice for the steal... Not
there, the DiMauros have 215. Other answers: stuffed
animal, photograph, rabbit's foot.
Triple Round: something
that women wash more often than men do (4). Jackie
gets #1, underwear (all clothes). The family adds on
body, bed sheets, and dishes for the sweep and win,
355-215.
Final shot at Fast Money
glory for Carrie and Jackie. Unfortunately, they get
only another $500, to bring their final total to
$22,785. |

Bruce Brown
(substitute teacher orig. from Cincinnati); $28,906 |
|
Alicia Aho
(bookseller from Seattle) |
|
Michael Smith (actor
orig. from Montreal) |
Bruce may not repeat as
champion, but you have to give him this.. He's made more
money than the past three champs combined.
He starts with $200
Museums, finding the Daily Double under $800 Ranks &
Titles. The only one in money at the moment (with
$4400), he bets, get ready... $3389. The clue: Dr.
Primrose was one of these priests in Wakefield in an
Oliver Goldsmith novel. "What is a vicar?" Right for
$7789!
The significance of odd
numbers? "Eighty-nine dollars is pretty much a day's pay
for a substitute teacher. And the 17... I don't know
where that came from." All three players are in the blue
going into the half, but Bruce is still in the lead with
$10,989 to Alicia's $2200. Michael has $600 and first
pickings in Double Jeopardy!...
... with $400 Science "T"alk,
with Alicia finding the first Daily Double under $800.
She'll "bid... err, wager" (C-Note: that's another show
downtown, sweetie) $6000 on this: it's the second of the
3 main sections of an arthropod's body. "What is the
thorax?" Correct for $14,200 and the lead! Second Daily
Double goes unclaimed as Bruce reclaims the lead by
$789, $17,789 to Alicia's $17,000. Michael is a longshot
at $3000.
Final Jeopardy!
in "Geographic Nicknames": from the 1795 poem
"Erin": "Nor one feeling of vengeance presume to
defile/the cause, or the men, of" this place. Correct
question: What is the Emerald Isle?
Michael... got the
country, but not the nickname. Alicia... Right. She ends
up with $28,000. Bruce has to bet big... and he did...
Too bad he too questioned "What is Ireland?" Woops.
Alicia's coming back with $28,000, while Bruce leaves
with $29,906. |

Last time, Leah Goldberg
(Chicopee, MA) needed the 50:50 to get to the $4,000
level. How far up the ladder will she go today?
It turns out that Leah has 11 tattoos, including one
that says "Lady Luck". Go figure. Also, Leah likes to
read. In fact, she sometimes reads up to 12 books a
week! Wow. Oh, and she also wins a lot of radio
contests. So much so, that she got letters from a couple
of stations that basically told her to stop winning! I
certainly hope she doesn't stop winning yet; at least
not until after she's done here! With that, the game
resumes...
[$8,000]
Richard Starkey, who is better known by his stage name,
played the drums for what legendary rock band?
A: The Rolling Stones
B: The Doors
C: Led Zeppelin
D: The Beatles
Leah calls her mother's friend Susan, who says D
"without a doubt". Leah goes with D... and it's D!
Moving on...
[$16,000]
In 2005, what powerful Republican was indicted on
criminal charges of money laundering and conspiracy?
A: Tom DeLay
B: Dennis Hastert
C: Bill Frist
D: Trent Lott
Leah asks the audience. An astounding 86% of the studio
audience says A, and so does 49% of the AIM users. Leah
trusts them... and they're right! Next question...
[$25,000]
What island nation lies less than 100 miles away from
India across the treacherous Palk Strait?
A: Madagascar
B: Sri Lanka
C: Cyprus
D: Indonesia
Leah has no idea, so she decides to walk. After seeing
that it was B, she heads outta there with $16,000!
Next in the hot seat is Russ Bleil (Brooklyn, NY). He is
excited to be here, and he has been waiting all day for
this. So, they get right to it with him knowing that to
deter potential intruders, homeowners commonly post
signs on their property reading "Beware of Dog" (Lawn
Gnomes may look scary, but they're inanimate). He gets
to $1,000 without a problem, then soon faces this...
[$4,000]
In the folk song "On Top of Old Smoky," the singer
laments the loss of his what?
A: Way home
B: Fair steed
C: Bag of gold
D: True lover
Russ decides to turn to the audience for help, and both
polls favour D (87% of studio; 51% of AIM). Russ trusts
them... and they're right! Another question later, and
this one shows up...
[$16,000]
In 2005, the College Board added to its SAT exam a new
section called what?
A: Analytical Skills
B: Science
C: Writing
D: History
Russ calls Steve, who guesses C. Russ then uses the
50:50, leaving A and C. He goes with C... and it's C! He
then gets to $25,000, before getting to this...
[$50,000]
Because its orbit is highly elliptical, what planet's
distance from the sun can range from 2.8 to 4.5 billion
miles?
A: Saturn
B: Jupiter
C: Uranus
D: Pluto
Russ seems to have an idea that it's one of two, but he
decides to switch this question out. He'd have guessed
D... and that's what it was. But it's gone now, and this
is in its place...
[$50,000] (Q)
The U.S. Postal Service still uses mules to deliver mail
to a remote Indian reservation in what state?
A: New Mexico
B: Utah
C: California
D: Arizona
Russ goes with D... and he's right! Still going...
[$100,000]
In 1974, what product became the first to be scanned by
a retailer using the UPC bar code?
A: Hershey bar
B: Wrigley's gum
C: Planters peanuts
D: Coca-Cola six-pack
Russ wants to say A, but he just can't do it. So, he
walks. Good thing too; it was B. That sends him home
with $50,000!
And that'll do it for today. New player tomorrow. |
