Jeopardy! by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time:  Check listings or jeopardy.com
Host: Alex Trebek
Amit Bose (attorney from Tucker, GA); $5600
Sharon Desser (bookkeeper from New York City)
Jack Deschauer (public relations professional from Arlington, VA)

Last time, gingerly wagering got Amit to the championship. But will he get to be the first in a while (since last week, actually) to win twice? He starts with $200 "Wa" Was That?, finding the Daily Double eleven clues later, a video under $600 The US Military Academy at West Point. With the lead at $2200, he bets $2000. Here's Sarah: "Freshmen at West Point are shown their place by being known as these, from a Roman term for ordinary uneducated citizens." "What are plebes?" Correct for $4200!

After learning that Matthew and Gunnar Nelson were Ricky Nelson's twins (C-Note: as much as I was a fan back in the 80s... I never knew that), Sharon takes the lead with $6000, but not too far off is Amit with $5200. Jack with $200 (or what we call "a deuce") starts Double Jeopardy!...

...with $400 Pot Luck. Sharon finds the first Daily Double under $800 Add a Letter. She bets the level on this: an "E" transforms your puppy into the chief magistrate in the former republic of Genoa. "Sorry." "What is dog to doge?" Sharon drops $6000. She'll try again with $2000 The Valley, the other Daily Double. She only gets $500 on the valley near Düsseldorf. "Sorry." "What is the Neandertal Valley" causes Sharon to drop to $7500. She ends the round with $9500 to Amit's $8000. Jack has $4600.

Final Jeopardy! in "The Vice Presidency": in the 20th Century, 2 of the 3 men who served less than 1 year as VP before becoming President. Correct question: Who were Harry Truman, Teddy Roosevelt, or Gerald Ford?

Only Jack got Truman and Roosevelt, making him the come-from-behind winner with $9200. Amit leaves with $6600.

The Price is Right by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time:  11a ET/10a CT on CBS (markets may vary)
Host: Bob Barker
Sit down! Get comfortable! Here comes Heather Shaw, Jerry Pantoja, Dana Johnson, and Carmen Koehl. They're bidding on a trip to Cancun. Price: $3046. Winner: Carmen! She'll play for ... a Ford Escape! The game is Lucky Seven, and the first number is 2. She guesses 2 for the second... it's 1. Down to $6. She guesses 6 next... 7. Down to $5. She guesses 4 next... 8. Down to one dollar. She needs to get the last number right... She tries 5... It's 7. So she doesn't win the $21,787 SUV.

Dana wins a sofa worth $800 in round 2. She gets a shot at 10 large playing 1/2 Off. First pair: a potato masher marked $70 and a cookie jar marked $18. She thinks the cookie jar is half off... Right! We miss the food scale ($25) and the CD/clock radio ($45 half off). We're going to the final pairing: a $13 hair dryer and a $29 ice cream sphere. She goes with the hair dryer... It's $26! So we're down to four boxes: 7, 9, 12, and 14. She goes for box 12... and takes the whole box with her when she opens it... She gets it right to send $10,000 careening off the TPIR stage!

Enrique Lopez wins $729 in power tools and gets a chance to win a storage building and a water walker playing the Clock Game. Unfortunately, he only has time to win the $699 storage building. Fortunately for Dana, the other two participants in the Showcase Showdown spin over, giving her a shot at the Showcase.

Heather wins a $2595 digital piano, as she gets a chance at gas pump replica, stemware, a home gym, and a writing desk. The game is Take Two. The target price: $3399. She goes for the home gym and the writing desk. The gym is $2200 and the writing desk is $1199. Do the math and it adds up to $3399!

Ernest Eck, who regrettably will not play Check Game (even though he knows how), but he will play something thanks to a $1276 set of lamps. It isn't Check Game, though. It's Pass the Buck. And the prize is a Chevrolet Cobalt. First pair: Hot Pockets at $1.29 and Theragesic cream at $3.99. He passes left... Correct! Next pair: Super Poligrip, $3.55, and a Space Bag, $4.99. He passes right.. Correct again! First pick, 4... Lose everything. Second pick, 3... $5000! That's all for him. Had he gone on, he would've won $3000 more.

Last chance for Jerry with a washer/dryer. Price: $918. Winner... Jerry! He plays Pushover for an HDTV. The setup: 8 2 4 9 9 5 6 4 0. He pushes to $4995. Actual price... $2499. One more would've done it. And speaking of done, that's what Jerry is as Ernest wins a spot in the Showcase...

First up, Shane tries to survive on a deserted island with phones, a computer, and a Chevrolet Malibu! Top winner Dana bids $21,000. Arthur, meanwhile, gets twisted with Lombard St. in San Francisco, a dancing Aly with a jukebox, and the biggest twist of all, not one, but TWO Ford Focuses! Arthur bids $42,000. Actual price... $41,112. He's over by almost $900. Actual price of Dana's Showcase... $19,030. SHE's over by almost $2000.

That gives us our fourth double overbid in six shows.

Stats: 2-3-1, $31,722.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire by Don Harpwood, GSNN

Host: Meredith Vieira
Going into today's show, Roseann Avolio (Clifton, NJ) has reached $8,000, and still has all her lifelines available. Could she make it all the way to the top?

It had already been established that Roseann has been quite excited, but she was also excited when she was in the audience a few weeks prior to this taping (which was when she took the test to get here). She then mentions that back then, before a show, while T-shirts were thrown into the audience and a comedian warmed up the crowd, she ended up called on down for a bit! No wonder she's so excited! Anyway, the game resumes, and after a couple of questions, she gets $25,000! Now, she has 4 lifelines, and she goes to the upper tier...

[$50,000]
What starring TV role did Bing Crosby turn down, reportedly because it would interfere with his golf?
A: Marcus Welby
B: Columbo
C: Barnaby Jones
D: Cannon

The 50:50 leaves B and D. Roseann was leaning towards C, so it's a good thing she used that lifeline. So, she then asks the audience. Both polls favour B, with the studio audience split 55% to 45%, and the AIM users split 62% to 38%. Roseann likes the numbers from the AIM poll enough to trust the audience and say B... and they're right! Moving on...

[$100,000]
In 1939, what two teams played in the first baseball game broadcast on TV?
A: Ohio State and Penn State
B: Syracuse and Rutgers
C: Princeton and Columbia
D: Yale and Harvard

Roseann says she doesn't have anyone on her Phone-a-Friend list that would know enough about sports to answer this one, so she switches it out. After the answer is revealed to be C, they go to a commercial break. After the break, this pops up...

[$100,000] (Q)
By definition, eustatic change is a worldwide alteration in what?
A: Ozone levels
B: Radioactivity
C: Surface temperature
D: Sea level

After some thought, Roseann calls her friend Sonia, who says D. Roseann cheers loudly for a few moments, then goes with D... and it's D! She's out of lifelines now, but who knows, maybe she could get lucky and the next question (or 2, or maybe even 3) could be something she somehow knows. Let's see what it is...

[$250,000]
"The Oprah Winfrey Show" made its national debut on September 8, 1986 with an episode about what?
A: Inspirational teachers
B: Marrying the right person
C: Loving your body
D: Moms who do it all

Roseann happens to be a fan of that show, but she does have to think about this one. She thinks it's not C. She thinks it might not be A. She doesn't think it would be B. She then says she's torn between A and D, possibly leaning towards D from what I heard her say. But she's not confident enough to risk it, so she walks. Turns out that it was B after all, so it's a good thing she bailed outta there! And as a result, Roseann is heading outta there with $100,000, and she is still as excited as ever!

Looks like she also took up the entire half-hour, as time runs out for today. We'll be seeing someone else in the hot seat tomorrow.
