Ex-Husbands
(Brian, Otis, Tim, Mark, Louis); zero games, $2500 |
|
Ex-Wives (Patti,
Debra, Pam, Ashley, Andrea); one game, $0 |
Yesterday, the
ex-husbands didn't score a single point, but they scored
where it counts... Or rather, the women failed to score
where it counted.
Round 1:
they say the wife is always the last to know. Name
something she might be the last to know about her
husband (5). Louis: "How big of a jerk he is." Nope. But
entertaining. Andrea gets number one, the past
relationships/affairs/cheating. The girls also get bills
and that he's gay. The brothers go with the kids... Not
there. The ex-wives get 92. Other answers: lost his job,
gambling problem.
Round 2: something many
people only two or three times in a lifetime (5). Mark
gets #3, have children, while Ashley gets #1, travel
overseas. The ladies also get remarried and go
skydiving. The guys try to steal with buy a house...
Nope. Ladies up, 170-0. Other answer: fall in love.
Double Round: something
that people swing (5). Tim fires with swing. Number
five. Otis gets #2, arms. Louis gets a baseball bat,
number one. The ex-wives are going with the hips... Not
there! The Ex-Hubbies get 94. Other answers: rope, keys.
Triple Round: 100 married
men: something
you're sure a robot can do better than your wife can
(4). Debra gets #1, the cleaning. The Ex-Wives get
drive, cook... and that's it. The men go with "be a
better companion." .... Nope! The Ex-Wives win again,
353-94. Other answer: iron/laundry.
Andrea and Ashley lost
out on the Fast Money last time. But that's not stopping
them from going at it again. Ashley gets high scorers on
"a material used to make sexy lingerie" (silk) for 108.
Andrea gets number one for "something women like to
receive" (flowers) for $20,000! |

The
Price is Right by Travis Schario, GSNN
Air time: 11a ET/10a CT on CBS
(markets may vary)
Host: Bob Barker |
|
It's been said that every
time "Price is Right" tapes another episode, it breaks
its own record. Let's see what records were broken
today. 7800, open yourself to us.
Stacy Query, Emily Auer, Patty Van Atta, and Alwin Scott
all take their shot at a Juliana greenhouse to start
things off today. Stacy picks it up, valued at $1388,
and has a shot at a trip to Copenhagen (HAY-gen or
HAA-gen?) in Coming or Going. Is it $5946 or $6495?
She's going with $6495, and she's GOING to Denmark!!
Next, Alwin captures a Whirlpool Gold dishwasher and
takes a shot at Race Game for a cornucopia of goodies: a
Corsican Virginia brass daybed (with Loving Care Formfit
mattress), a Sauna from Strong Pools & Spas, a Magnussen
Home mobile circular bar, and a Hohner bluegrass banjo.
The Tags: $550, $1259, $2195, and $2539. His first
placement (1259 - 2539 - 550 - 2195) nets one correct.
His second placement (2195 - 1259 - 550 - 2539) lights
up (0), but should have been (1). His final placement
(1259 - 2195 - 2539 - 550) also nets only one. However,
due to the confusion, Bob awards Alwin ALL FOUR PRIZES!!
In Act III, Patty (our token Red Hat of the day) claims
a collection of Paricon, Inc. snow sleds (and a supply
of Aspercreme patches) worth $550. Her game: Master Key
for a set of Heys hardside carry-on luggage, a Cutco
Homemaker 8 set with woodblock, and a Ford Ranger.
Unfortunately, she didn't get a key, stumbling on a
cordless food grater (5-2-9, guessed $52) and a Tea
Kettle wall clock (3-1-8, guessed $31).
Before we get to the Showdown, Dorothy Sansberry from
San Diego, has a song for us, which this reporter has
dubbed the "Showcase Showdown Stretch." The lyrics to
the song appear at the end of this report. Stacy, our
world traveler makes it thru the Showdown with 95˘.
To kick off the 2nd half, Emily (who did a cartwheel on
her way up on stage) picked up a set of Famous Trails
nightvision equipment, valued at $1310. She then took
her chances at bagging $10,000 in Grand Game (Target:
$8.00). She took NesQuik first ($4.39) for $10, Glad
ForceFlex bags ($4.49) for $100, and Phillips Milk of
Magnesia ($5.35) for $1000. After some debating with the
audience, she goes on. Her choices: Capzasin-P cream,
30-count Garlique, and an Energizer batter dispenser.
She took the Capzasin-P ($12.99) and took her way off
stage. She should have taken the batteries ($6.99).
In Act V, Marnie Haskell, a member of a group of mothers
of twins, picks up a Pilates Machine from Stamina
Products, Inc. worth $830. With the machine she also
gets a supply of Gold Bond Body Lotion. Her Game: Any
Number for a Ford Focus ZX3SE or a silver service from
Arthur Court. Her picks: 6 5 4 2 7 9 8; net her only the
silver service.
CAR 1 6 3 0 7
Silver 5 2 8
The Pig 4.1 9
Finally, Glenda Balistreri, who came to the Row
completely stunned, won her way up on stage via a Dell
XPS complete computer system, worth $1347. She now has a
shot to go against the Clock for a pair of patio heaters
and a Broyhill computer armoire (how appropriate). Very
softly, she wins the $599 patio heaters with 15 seconds
left. Bob asks her to speak up when she goes after the
$913 armoire. Using only 11 guesses, she hits $913 with
only 4.5 seconds remaining. Glenda then makes it to the
Showcases with an extra $1000 bonus from the Wheel to go
with her $1000 Clock Game bonus.
Stacy, our Top Winner; and Glenda, our Runner-Up; have
offstage help for their bidding. Stacy's husband Joe and
Glenda's daughter Laura have crouched beside the stage
near the Producer's table to signal bids to their
on-stage counterparts. Now, with that out of the way, ON
TO THE SHOWCASES!!
Showcase #1 gave us a Broyhill King's Crossing dining
room with Noritake dinnerware, a year's supply of Big
Island Tropical Flowers, and a trip FIRST CLASS to Maui.
Stacy passes this one off to Glenda, who bids $17,000.
Showcase #2 is all about teaching landlords who NOT to
let move in. We get a JBL Home Theater system ("just add
TV"), a Honda CRF 150 offroad bike, and a Chrysler PT
Cruiser. Stacy's bid: $23,000.
With all of the fun we've had today, we never want to
see a tragic ending, right? Well, today was not the day
to avoid the tragic ending. Glenda's Showcase: $15,649.
Stacy's Showcase: $20,098. Both Joey and Laura duck
their heads in shame and go back to their seats as Bob
descends back into the audience.
STATS: 3/6 (with one technical); $23,022
"Showcase Showdown Stretch"
(sung to the tune of "Take Me Out To The Ball Game")
Call me down to Contestants Row...
Pick me out of the crowd...
I want to play Plinko or Punch-a-Bunch...
I've waited all day and I haven't had lunch!
Let's root, root, root, for Bob Barker...
For he's the one that we love...
Let's play 1...2...3 Strikes, you're out...
Bob Barker is still Number 1!! |

Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire by Don Harpwood, GSNN

Yesterday, on the first day
of Walk In and Win Week from Walt Disney World, Julie
Tribett (Middleburg, FL) made it to $16,000, but used up
her lifelines. Can she keep going today?
[No, she won't be teaming with Minnie Mouse, who is
there today for the same reason Mickey was yesterday.]
Julie came to WDW on a lark, but her fiancé Brandon, who
is in the Navy, wasn't too sure about the idea at first.
He thought it was a crazy idea. I bet it doesn't seem so
crazy to him now. Anyway, the game resumes...
[$25,000]
A 175-year-old gal named Harriet, believed to be the
world's oldest living creature, is what type of animal?
A: Lizard
B: Tortoise
C: Elephant
D: Humpback whale
Julie has a hunch, but she doesn't know for sure, so she
walks. She thought C, but it was B, so it's a good thing
she walked. Julie heads home with $16,000, as Minnie
guides her off the stage.
The next number is 115, and that belongs to Anna Harris
(Orlando, FL). She's a family physician, but at this
point, she's a stay-at-home mom. And Anna starts the
game by knowing that the feature of a car designed to
prevent it from rolling away when parked is the
emergency brake (though a prayer wouldn't hurt). She
slowly sweeps the lower tier, then faces this...
[$2,000]
What organization's official Web site features a quiz
titled "What Knot Would You Use"?
A: Greenpeace
B: AARP
C: Salvation Army
D: Boy Scouts of America
Anna thinks she knows, but says she's not quite sure, so
she decides to ask the audience. A whopping 96% of the
studio audience and an also-impressive 89% of the AIM
users say D. That's what Anna thought, so she goes with
that... and it's D! Another question later, and this
comes up...
[$8,000]
Boston, the capital of Massachusetts, rhymes with what
other state's capital?
A: Delaware
B: Texas
C: Ohio
D: North Carolina
Anna calls her uncle Lawrence, who is sure that it's B.
She trusts him... and he's right! Moving on...
[$16,000]
In 2005, animal rights activists urged what country's
palace guards to get rid of their famous bearskin hats?
A: United Kingdom
B: Spain
C: Belgium
D: Monaco
The 50:50 leaves A and C. After plenty of consideration,
Anna decides to walk. The answer was A, but she wouldn't
have guessed that, so she gets her check for $8,000
before receiving a hug from Minnie.
There's another envelope to open, and inside is the
number 28. That means it's time for Chris Cocker
(Bessemer, NC) to come on down. He came to WDW with his
wife and a bulldog. And I doubt that the bulldog would
have been allowed to enter the studio... Anyway, Chris
starts by knowing that bug zappers get rid of insects by
zapping them with electricity. A couple of questions
later, and he comes across this...
[$500]
What fruit lends its name to an impolite noise made by
sticking the tongue between the lips and blowing?
A: Watermelon
B: Raspberry
C: Grapefruit
D: Kiwi
Chris asks the audience. 90% of the studio audience says
B, and so does 85% of the AIM users. Chris trusts
them... and they're right! He then secures the $1,000,
and gets to the $2,000 level.
And there's the horn. Chris will be back tomorrow. As
for which Disney mascot will be there then, we'll have
to wait and see... |
