Cash Cab by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time: 6p ET/5p CT on Discovery
Host: Ben Bailey
First up in the Big Yellow Taxi of Money are Frank, Randy, and stone-faced Joe, going to 49th & 67th. They sweep the $25 and the $50 tier, getting $300 en route to a Red Light Challenge: four kinds of teeth found inside the human mouth. Incisors, bicuspids, canines, and molars are good for $550. Bordered by Thailand and Vietnam, what Communist country is Vientiane? They go with Cambodia... First strike! It's Laos. Second strike: at birth, what US President was given no middle name, just a middle initial S. They go with Grant... It was Truman, and we go to break...

After the break, they get two more questions right to end with $1250! But will they take the Video Bonus? No. They walk with the cash. And inside comes...

Susie, going to 74th between First and York. First strike: in auto terms, what long metallic rod is used to determine the level of a car's oil? She times out on dipstick. She needs a mobile shout out to brother Danny: A spelunker enjoys exploring what? She goes with caves... Right for $125! Second strike: named after the doctor who popularized it, what low-carb diet was introduced in a 1972 book? "God is incorrect!" Correct: Atkins. Third strike... in a tunnel: born Chan Kong-Sang, what "Rush Hour" star has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? She doesn't know... Jackie Chan!

Finally, we're going to Rockefeller Center with Veronica, Mary, Janine, and Alan. First strike: What Big Ten school gets its team name from the wildcats that populated Mt. Nittany. They lose out on Penn State. Second strike: name the three-acre enclosed ecological system constructed in Arizona in the late 1980s. (C-Note: I know for a fact it's Biosphere 2, since I was living in that area at the time. You can check it out here). They go with Biodome. But they still have $225 going into this Red Light Challenge: five Michael Jackson solo albums released since 1978. They get Bad, Thriller, Dangerous, Off the Wall, and HIStory for $475. Also acceptable: Invincible and Blood on the Dance Floor. They need a mobile shoutout here: chiromancy is the art of telling the future using what part of the body? They go with... palm. Going against the shout out... Good move for $575! They need a street shoutout on this: Frank Gehry designed the iconic Guggenheim Museum in what Spanish city? They go with Bilbao... Right for $875! Last question... Gotten for $975. But will they go for the video? Yes! Here it is: The Inuit inhabit parts of Alaska, Canada, and what large ice-covered island nation? They go with Greenland... Correct for $1950!

Host: Richard Karn
Lowry (Amy, Kayley, Jill, Natalie, Kathe); $550
Broadous (Lillian, Deborah, Angelica, Michelle, Shyann)

Seems like we're coming full circle today, as the Broadous family from the AstraZeneca Feuds start their tenure. Round 1: soemthing people aren't allowed to do at the beach, but some people do anyway (5). Go nude beats drink, as Lillian wins the faceoff. Make love also makes the survey. The Lowry ladies go with "littering"... not there! The Broadouses get 77. Other answer: smoke (said!), bring their pets (also said!).

Round 2: something you stand around and wait for because someone else is using it (6). Kayley fires with #1, the toilet. They also get the ATM. the Broadouses try "gas pump"... Got it for 133! Other answer: telephone, car, washer/dryer.

Double Round: a type of dog that wouldn't make a good seeing-eye dog (full board). Jill gets #2, a pit bull. Natalie gets #1, a Chihuahua.  Other bad choices: a poodle, a Dalmatian, a Yorkie terrier, and... a St. Bernard? The Broadouses hope so... No! The Lowrys get 138! Other answer: Shih-Tzu.

Triple Round: someone a person might confess a crime to (4). Michelle gets the top answer; a priest. A spouse, a friend, and the police round the sweep and the game for the Broadouses, 400-138.

Cousins Lillian & Shyann take the Fast Money Board for 143, good for $715. The Broadous family's three day run on the Breast Cancer Specials is skipped. Thursday's program picks up with the Kimbell family who dethroned the Broadous cousins.

Jeopardy! by Chico Alexander, GSNN

Air time:  Check listings or jeopardy.com
Host: Alex Trebek
William Love (brick manufacturer from Los Angeles); $7599
John Moore (talk radio show host from Toronto)
Eleanor Ainslie (medical student from Philadelphia)

The Final Jeopardy! claimed another victim yesterday, but will William have the will today as he bets on his skill today? We'll fee in a moment, but first, a programming note: next week begins the J! Teen Tourney. You're not going to want to miss that.

Let's get it on.. William starts with $200 Teutonic. At the first time out, Eleanor leads, $2400 to William's $400 and John's $1000.

Naturally, Eleanor goes to $1000 Brave Heart for the Daily Double. She bets $1500 of her $5400 here: the first permanent artificial heart, implanted in Barney Clark in 1982, was named for this doctor. "Who is Jarvik?" That... would've gotten her the money. Instead, she blanks out to $3900. She goes back to $4900 to enter the half in the lead. John has $2600, while William has $2200 and the honor of starting Double Jeopardy!...

... with $400 Beer-vertising. Last two categories in play are Islands and Writing a Wrong. After a scoring change, William wagers $6000. The clue, from Kelly: "this Swedish island, the largest in the Baltic Sea, is said to be the original home of the Goths. Makes sense." "What is Gothenburg?" Nope, it's Gotland, dropping William to a five-piece. Second Daily Double remains hidden, and bad news for John. In the red by $3800, he's going back to the TO with $1000. Meanwhile, it's Eleanor's game to lose with $17,300 to William's $6600.

Final Jeopardy! in "Pen Names": a 20th Century writer derived this pen name from the patron saint of England & a river in Suffolk. Correct question: What is George Orwell?

Both are wrong, but Eleanor holds back to win $13,300. William leaves with $9599.

The Price is Right by Travis Schario, GSNN

Air time:  11a ET/10a CT on CBS (markets may vary)
Host: Bob Barker
The final show of January 2006. 7800, release your secrets.

Janet Papson, Timothy Little, Tamisue Abuayed, and Frank Camp all have a shot at a very tiny Dell laptop. Frank captures it with a $500 bid (ARP: $1100). He strolls confidently to the center door to play Most Expensive for a pair of Deering Goodtime Banjos with cases, a 32" HD flat panel TV, and a Broyhill writing desk. Frank takes the TV. Banjos: $1148. Desk: $1313. Does he win? TV: $2199. We start off on a high note for once!

Next, Janet makes off with Rosenthal Empress crystal stemware, valued at $1680. She now tests her skill with Bags for $16,000 using: Chips Ahoy! cookies, Santa Fe chunky salsa, Dole pineapple slices, a 60-ct. Garlique, and Aspercreme patches. Bag 1: 55¢. Cookies go there. Bag 2: $1.79. Go with the pinepple. Bag 3: $3.99. Popcorn there. Bag 4: $2.69. Gotta be the salsa. Bag 5: $8.99. Let's go with the supplement. Cookies nets a grand. She goes on. Pineapple rings in two grand. Going on again. The popcorn pops up 4-G's. The salsa? Yeah, $8000. Now to the $16,000 Supplement. With the entire audience waving "No Deal," she stops with the $8000...and good thing too. Back patches were in the last bag, but $8000 in the pocket is OK by Janet.

Act III goes to Nancy Yao, who picks up a Halex family game room with an Energizer hearing aid battery dispenser ($1000; won after an overbid). Nancy takes her place on the Turntable to play Cover Up for a Pontiac G6. The Board:

        1
      4 3
    2 8 6
  9 6 3 9
3 1 0 9 4
2 7 1 5 8
----------
$1 3 5 2 0

Her first cover of $21,686 nets her three right...the first three. So, she changes to $21,698. Bad move. No more right. ARP: $21,631.

After TWO Spinoffs (one at 80¢, one at 40¢), Frank beats Janet to advance to the Showcases.

In the Speed-Up, Tamisue captures a set of SportsStuff pool and beach lounges, valued at $630. Her game: Squeeze play for a pair of Honda TTR 125 LT offroad motorcycles. With the board at 5 1 3 8 4, she cautiously removes the 8, squeezing to $5134. Our second winner of the day!

Now, in Act V, Timothy finally worms his way out of the Row, taking down a $1199 Dimplex Symphony Ovation fireplace. His shot at more stuff comes with a roll of the Dice for a Chevy Cobalt LS Coupe. His rolls: 3, Higher; 5, Lower; 5, Lower; 6, Lower. Of course, he got the (6, Lower) call right [4]...and he got the second number right [5]. However, he had a tragic loss, when his first (5, Lower) call turned out to be a [6]. ARP: $15,614.

Rounding out the Gauntlet today, Laura Vigil-Gonzalez captured a JBL home theater speaker system, valued at $1030. Her game: Everyone's FAVORITE!! Joker. Sweeping thru all four prizes (the 2 lb. egg-shaped washer @ $76; a tortilla grill @ $35; an adjustable steam iron @ $24; the ball ice cream maker @ $29), she discards all but the 1. Where's the Joker? #2! Another WIN!! This lucky Joker player makes it to the Showcases with 85¢.

In the Showcase: Your Top Winner: Frank! Your Runner-Up: Laura!

Showcase #1 stars Gabrielle in the role of Scarlett O'Hara many years later. For prizes, our southern belle offers a refrigerator with built-in TV, a Corsican brass cradle, and an American 18 day sailer. Frank passes this off to Laura, who bids $25,000.

Showcase #2 teaches us how to eat better. Our tricks to better "nutrition" include three trips: one 6-nighter to Honolulu, one 6-nighter to Venice, and a 12-day cruise of the Orient. Frank bids $12,000.

Frank's Showcase: $18,238 for a difference of only $6238. A mediocre difference. Laura's Showcase: $16,233 and she's way OVER! Frank walks away with his frat brothers (and sister) with $23,998.

STATS: 3-2-1; $46,287

Morgan Walker from Brandon, MS, is a second-year business major at LSU. Adam Lorenzo, originally from NYC, is a mortgage broker and former stand-up comic.

She solves AMATEUR BOXER SHORTS for $1050 in cash and card, giving her $4050 total.

Eggland's Best Jackpot Puzzle is On the Menu. Morgan spins, but goes Bankrupt. Adam solves GRILLED ASPARAGUS for $1500. That was quick.

Ten large up for grabs in the Mystery Round, a Phrase... and it's a Prize Puzzle! Morgan and Natalia buy up all the vowels, but Morgan ends up solving LIVING THE ISLAND LIFESTYLE for $4450... and a trip to Jamaica! And if you've got Spin ID DJ 04499, you're going to Jamaica, too! And if you have a Sony Card, you've got $50,000 as well!

Next tossup: Living Thing. $3000 goes to Natalia for FLIGHTLESS BIRDS. She starts up People. Natalia ends up solving TENANTS AND LANDLORDS for $6900! She has $13,950, but we've got another puzzle! But will Natalia hit the jackpot at the Bonus Wheel? Her category: Phrase. With the usual six and M P D and I, we have...

I ' M  _ L E _ I _ LE

She had to stretch a bit, and even then she misses I'M FLEXIBLE. She misses out on $25,000, but still, she scores $18,750!

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire by Don Harpwood, GSNN

Air time:  Check listings or millionairetv.com
Host: Meredith Vieira
Yesterday ended on a painful note; but today is another day...

Starting the show in the hot seat today is Steve Borzoni (Rye Brook, NY). He's the father of a 9-month-old boy, and he has plans on expanding his family's house. So he's here to make enough money to do so. Steve starts on his way to making that money by knowing that "the facts of life" is a polite phrase that commonly refers to sex. He has no problem with the lower tier, then soon enough, he faces this...

[$4,000]
What sitcom's 2005 premiere consisted of two live performances, one for the East Coast and one for the West?
A: According to Jim
B: Will & Grace
C: Two and a Half Men
D: Scrubs

Steve asks the audience. 49% of the studio audience says B, and so does 48% of the AIM users. Steve trusts them... and they're right! Another question later, and this one pops up...

[$16,000]
Produced in France since 1849, Cointreau is a popular liqueur with what distinctive flavor?
A: Almond
B: Orange
C: Cherry
D: Chocolate

Steve doesn't know, so he calls a food editor, Suzanne. She happens to be a former contestant who won $125,000 on the show. Suzanne is absolutely sure that it's B. Steve goes with it... and it is indeed B! Moving on...

[$25,000]
Of these U.S. dollar bills, which one features a portrait of the American president who served most recently?
A: $2
B: $5
C: $20
D: $50

The 50:50 leaves A and D. Steve says D... and he has $25,000! Still going...

[$50,000]
What famous building was once used to store gunpowder, resulting in a 1687 explosion that destroyed its roof?
A: Westminster Abbey
B: Notre Dame Cathedral
C: Parthenon
D: Colosseum

Steve thinks that he knows it, and goes with A... but it's C! That sends him home with $25,000, which should help to go towards that house expansion.

Next up is Mary Pender (Brooklyn, NY), who had a reoccurring nightmare before appearing here that upon walking to the hot seat, she'd trip, fall, and break her nose. Not only that, but with a bloody nose, she'd miss the first question. Well, at least she didn't hurt herself here, and Mary knows that in a beloved ballet by Tchaikovsky, the Nutcracker magically comes to life (I'm not sure if I'd want to see soap on a rope come to life, though), so thankfully, the nightmare didn't come to life. She goes on to secure $1,000, and after another few questions, she is on a roll heading into this...

[$16,000]
To show national pride, Australian sports fans greet the chant "Aussie, Aussie, Aussie" with what rousing response?
A: Yip, yip, yip!
B: Baa, baa, baa!
C: Ho, ho, ho!
D: Oi, oi, oi!

Mary has no idea, so she decides to ask the audience. 72% of the studio audience and 62% of the AIM users say D. Mary goes with it... and it's D! Next question...

[$25,000]
The November 2005 issue of Esquire magazine named what former WB star "the sexiest woman alive"?
A: Jessica Biel
B: Sarah Michelle Gellar
C: Katie Holmes
D: Keri Russell

Mary has a guess, but she's not sure enough yet, so she uses the 50:50, leaving A and B. She goes with A... and she has $25,000! Still going...

[$50,000]
What literary wit is credited with observing "A true friend stabs you in the front"?
A: Dorothy Parker
B: Oscar Wilde
C: Noel Coward
D: Gertrude Stein

Mary decides to go for it, saying A... but it's not! It's B! Darn. At least she didn't lose any of the $25,000 that she's taking home!

And time is up for today. Once again, the next episode will start with a new player.
