Episode
3.6 - Couples
July 6
Another set of 12 couples
are ready to take on the biggest, baddest, most padded
obstacle course in America.
THE WIPEOUT QUALIFIER
Tonight, the Qualifier consists of...
- The Blob Launch: a giant pillow set to
maximum height.
- The Sucker Punch: one wall, multiple punching gloves, a world of hurt.
- The Big Balls: Swinging Motivator is back in full force.
- The Biker Bars: A crazy-moving platform with balls and poles.
- The Shape-Shifter: trampoline yourself through one of the three holes
in the wheel spinnie of doom!
Remember, it's the fastest six couples
that move on.
First up, Molly Chamberlain & Michael
Fell, married, are a can-do taekwondo team, and they can do anything,
especially busting blocks together. Both of them get launched by the
Blob, while the Suckerpunch... sucker punches them. He can do it, she
can do it, why not me? That's the thing, they CAN'T do. They swim to a
time of 5:41.6
Next are Robert & Ashley de Otero,
newlyweds. Ashley's plan... bully everyone. The course ends up bullying
her. And Ashley is really doing nothing for him. Andy & Miranda Signore,
married, are next. Andy is a little bit slow. Back at the top, dating
couple Daniel Tcruz & Sarah Fernandez love to wrestle each other. The
blob makes the world go round.
Andrew Avery & Amy White are next. Amy
neck farts. Andrew... is a human beatbox. So musical, they could
complete the course in perfect harmony... or not. Robert House is going
to be launched by Traci Martin. They're... divorced. But together. Not
married though.
Robin Burton & Stephen Netter are last
up. Robin's flashing "wedding gang signs", as in she has no ring. After
five years. Will she have one after the qualifier? Robin commits to the
Big Balls, the only one to do so today. She's a keeper. And so is this
time of 5:23.

THE DOUBLE CROSS
On a ten-foot high platform, the players
must negotiate their way through a platform cross while avoiding the
Sweeper arms. There are three green planks to enter, one red one to
exit. As this is a couples episode, only a completed team will count.
The first three teams will move on.
And did we mention a geyser?
Robin's the first to make the traverse
into the finish. Second is Michael, third is Amy. Fourth is Robert.
Fifth is Robert. Still no couples. And finally, representatives from all
six teams are on the other side. Who will join them?
ADVANCING TO ROUND 3
Robin Burton & Stephen Netter
Robert House & Traci Martin
Robert de Otero & Ashley Grijalva-de Otero
BRUISEBALL
Now, there are four bases. We start at
the Dizzy Dummy, then round to the Mound while avoiding the business end
of the bat. Next, down the Bouncing Baseline to second base. Slidewalk
to third, then a jump into the tank to go all the way. Two innings. Winners of each
inning go to the Wipeout Zone!
Robert H and Steve are the first to head
home... and Robert D finishes it for the men... and Robin wins the first
inning for the "I Don'ts"
Second inning. And Ashley is refusing to
move until the Cubs win the pennant. Then she actually makes a move to
first. The men are at home, just waiting for the ladies... and it's
Traci! By an inch!

THE WIPEOUT ZONE
Love is about to pay off...
Rebuilt from the ground up is the world's
most dangerous obstacle course... the Wipeout Zone! Tonight...
- The Dreadmill Launch
- The Gut Buster: A half-dozen of hydraulic blocks.
- The Sinistairs: three sweepers as you climb a spinning spiral
staircase
- The Gauntlet: this week, it's the Crankshaft, the Blades of Fury, and
the Beater-Totter.
First, the two women will lead off the
Wipeout Zone. The men will have to wait it out, because no one sees the
Zone until they run the Zone. Fastest combined time wins.
First is Traci Martin. She makes a good
launch into the Zone, but has a world of trouble on the Gut Busters.
Third time is the charm. One step onto the Sinistairs and good night.
Second time puts her in a compromising position... and she's absolutely
spent. Third time the charm again. Crankshaft.. easy. Blades... hard.
She quits and earns the maximum time allowable under Couples format, 20
minutes.
Next is Robin Burton. She utilizes a
low-risk strategy, but it's paying off. First run on the Sinistairs is
heinous. Second... even more so. Sweeper arms taking her out twice.
Making a great time going into the Gauntlet. She gets hit hard on the
Crankshaft. Second time gets through. Blades of Fury does her in, as she
gets the automatic 20.
So it's going to come down to the men.
First up is the Wishy-Washy Robert. He plays the Gut Busters close to
the ground... Pays off. Same with the Sinistairs. Crankshaft nails him,
though. Mad dash... pow. Fourth attempt slide... and good. He clocks
in... with an official time at 15:19.
Stephen Netter will have to beat that to
win. Great jump into the Zone. Steve shows no signs of slowing in the
Gut Busters. He has 11 minutes to capture the cash at the Gauntlet.
Steve finally gets the timing down for that, but the Blades of Fury
wipes him out. Twice. That is all she wrote for him and ROBERT HOUSE &
TRACI MARTIN WIN THE TITLE AND $50,000!
Next time, Henson unleashes an experiment
in pain as we return to the 24-player format.
Until then... good night... and Big Balls.
