Making Waves
August 26
Last time, we met the gamers, and they
met "Tekken 6". After some well-timed fights, Yaz emerged as King of the
Iron Fist, sending Kat and Mike into Samsung Stadium to battle for the
right to continue playing. At the end of the day, Mike ran out of lives
in a well-fought best-of-9 battle.
Kat returns to the loft, and Vanessa
knows that she's going to be in her crosshairs.
Meanwhile, Faye and AJ are still hanging
out with each other. A lot.
MOBILE CHALLENGE: Hyperspace
Joel walks in with news of the next
challenge. The game is "Hyperspace" for the Samsung Moment. Played
almost like "Super Monkey Ball", it uses the phone's rotoscope. The
player with the highest score will win this mini-challenge and
automatically receive first place points in the next Real Life
Challenge.
Winner is... AJ! He'll get to sit out the
next RLC.
The next day brings said challenge, as
the gamers head to Raging Waters in San Dimas. Why? Because we're
breaking out the Wii console. The RLC is... "WII SPORTS RESORT"
(Nintendo, Wii).
REAL LIFE CHALLENGE (worth 50% of overall
score): Wakeball
The players will be taking part in both
wakeboarding and the 3-point shootout. AJ gets to sit and watch. The
gamers will play in teams of two. The winner of the challenge wins a
Nintendo prize package.
One player on each team must head
volleyballs (5 points) and beach balls (10 points) for 3 minutes without
wiping out. At the end of a rack is a money ball worth 25 points. Most
points wins.
- RACHEL & FAYE: AJ's favorite team only
manage 15.
- JUSTIN & KAT: Did we mention that Justin can't swim? He gets 30.
- SEBASTIAN & VANESSA: We all see something that we shouldn't...
Sebastian butt crack.
- RYAN & CAESAR get a money ball.
- JAKE & YAZ are in the zone...
Remember, AJ is already in first place.
Rachel & Faye manage 15. Kat & Justin manage 30. Sebastian & Vanessa get
5. Ryan & Caesar get 70! Jake & Yaz: 40. Ryan & Caesar take the Nintendo
package with a black Wii, Wii Sports Resort, and Super Mario Galaxy 2,
as well as second place points in this challenge.
Hannah has one more twist... "Wii Sports
Resort" will only be featured in Isolation. The game to be played at
Samsung Stadium... "MARIO KART WII" (Nintendo; Wii). But for now, let's
practice MotionPlus basketball.
Ryan is already partners with Yaz, Wong,
and Caesar. Now he's looking to branch out with Kat. She is... in.
Ryan's worried that everyone in the house will find out.
One person who isn't practicing is
Sebastian, who says that he is THE best in the house. Meanwhile, AJ's
thinking of a different kind of shooting. It is, after all, taco night.
What goes better with tacos than tequila.
Kat tells Rachel of the alliance that
Ryan made with her, a move that Rachel calls "(^_^)ing nasty".
Meanwhile, Faye acknowledges that AJ has a crush on him, and Rachel
tells the wrong person of the deal made with Ryan and Kat.
ISOLATION CHALLENGE (worth 50% of overall
score): Wii Sports Resort
The challenge this week: three point
shootout. The goal: most points.
The person in last place and headed for
Elimination... SEBASTIAN.
The person in first place and determining
his opponent... JAKE. Practice pays off.
Again, Jake says that he's not putting
anyone up from the Purple Team from the last RLC. He's gunning for AJ.
That seems to be the move. With that move, Jake enters the fold, now
known as the Pentagon, with Ryan, Yaz, Wong, and Caesar. Sebastian wants
to take on AJ. Faye doesn't want that, so she volunteers herself. Right
now, anything can happen.
At the nomination, Jake picks... AJ to
take on Sebastian. And the smack starts early. For the record, in the
overall, AJ came in second.
AJ gets called out for being too lax on
the practice sessions. But Sebastian's the player with the big problems,
as we figure out that Sebastian is HORRIBLE at "Mario Kart". AJ gets to
hold onto Faye's good luck scarf as a charm.
ELIMINATION CHALLENGE: Mario Kart Wii
Using any character in Mario Kart Wii,
you will be playing three races using the Wii Wheel. The tracks: Coconut
Mall, DK Summit, and Wario's Gold Mine. The first to two wins. Let's go to
the tale of the tape...

The players take their positions. And... GAME ON!
Sebastian will play Mario, while AJ plays
Luigi.
First race is Coconut Mall. AJ takes the
lead early... but he also takes a blue shell, that's going to eat up
some time. Sebastian takes the lead, he's going to have to hold onto it
if he wants to win. But what's good for the goose is good for the gander
as AJ takes the track on the back of a blue shell. AJ leads, 1-0.
Second race. DK Summit. This'll come down
to who can stay on the track the longest. AJ... can't. Sebastian ties it
up by just staying on the track.
Final race is Wario's Gold Mine. This
track has little railings, and AJ is in trouble because of it. He's
going to need a miracle... It doesn't happen. SEBASTIAN FTW! Someone's
going to have to get Faye her scarf back, because for AJ... it's GAME
OVER. From top of the heap to gone in the matter of a round.
Next time, it's time to hit the ice for
NHL 10.
