Battle Round Part 2
May 17

Last week, we staged our first battle round. The winners - Frenchie Davis, Patrick Thomas, Casey Weston, and and Vicci Martinez - are moving to the public vote. Four more will join them tonight, as we move one step closer to crowning... THE VOICE?

To assist the coaches in... well, coaching, they've brought on an adviser. Adam has brought on Maroon 5's musical advisor Adam Blackstone. Cee-Lo will be assisted by platinum recording artist Monica. Christina will rely on her friend, Australian phenom Sia, and Blake has asked for the assistance of only the one and only Reba McEntire.

The first battle pairing...

TEAM CEE-LO
TJE AUSTIN VS. NAKIA

The song: "Closer" by Ne-Yo.

Adam's concentrating on the amount of hair on the stage. He would go with Nakia. Blake liked the personalities, also going with Nakia. Christina likes Tje. But it's up to Cee-Lo to determine who takes this battle. Tje's voice was so pleasant. But Nakia commanded the performance. WINNER OF THIS BATTLE... NAKIA!

TEAM BLAKE
ELENOWEN VS. JARED BLAKE

The song: "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye.

We have our first two vs. one battle. And with that, the first fundamental issue with the group dynamic in that we hear more of Josh than we do of Nicole. That may cost them. Going to the coaches... Christina says that Elenowen is giving it to the crowd. Cee-Lo liked that Jared was selling it a little big more. Adam agreed with Cee-Lo. Reba said that Jared was more comfortable with the song than Elenowen was... but it's up to Blake... WINNER OF THIS BATTLE... JARED!

TEAM ADAM
JAVIER COLON VS. ANGELA WOLFF

The song: "Stand by Me" by Ben E. King

Angela thinks that Javier is the best singer in the competition. But how would both do with a simple song sung simply? Blake is attracted to Angela, BUT likes Javier a little more. Christina, equally as attracted. Cee-Lo... equally as attracted. WINNER OF THIS BATTLE... JAVIER!

And finally...

TEAM CHRISTINA
BEVERLY McCLELLAN VS. JUSTIN GRENNAN

The song: "Baba O'Riley" by the Who.

Justin's performance wreaked of desperation after Beverly showed why she was the favorite for classic rockers. The coaches thought that Beverly stole it, with Adam thinking that Justin was like a lamb being led to the slaughter. Blake and Adam did like Justin better, but who did Christina Aguilera pick? WINNER OF THIS BATTLE... BEVERLY!

Eight down, eight to go. Time to wrap this one up and get you ready for the next one. The search for the Voice continues... next week.
