Ten people with the facades of models, beauty
queens, and the like have been brought to the Hollywood Hills to compete for the
title of America's most beautiful person. With that title came $100,000 and a
profile in People Magazine's "Most Beautiful" issue.
But not all is as it seems. They were not just
there to be tested on their outer qualities, but their inner beauty as well,
because in the end, as seven have found out, that is what makes a beautiful
person truly beautiful. Now we're down to three... Julia Anderson, Billy
Jeffrey, and Joel Rush. At the end of the hour... the secret will be known to
each one of them and we will have a winner.
Billy says that he's got a lot of journal writing
to do, to say the least. Julia wants to be the last girl standing, just to say
that she represents all the girls in America.
Joel returns to the house after surviving yet
another round in the Hall of Beauty. And, like everything, it is what it was.
Joel would consider this journey to be a failure if he did not win the title of
America's most beautiful person. This is something, he says, that he's worked 27
years for. Much to the chagrin of the other two.
The next day.... more primping. In Julia's
cases... false eyelashes.
In the Spy Room, the judges are detailing...
THE FINAL CHALLENGE: the People Interview.
The three beauties are meeting with People
magazine, where they will do their interview and photo shoot, but there's more
than meets the eye... But more on that later.
First part is an interview with Jess Cagle, the
executive editor of People, who calls the issue "The stuff that dreams are made
of". Second part is Matthew Rolston's photography session. All the players need
are their best look... and a towel. They're either modeling for a towel company,
or they're getting naked... something that Julia has NEVER done.
She's really anxious about the towels. "Taking a
nude photo... doesn't really exemplify 'role model'. I want to be Miss America."
Meanwhile, the judges have detailed that a) not
only are we going to see true colors come out, but b) Jess Cagle is actually a
secret guest judge.
Joel is first... And he can't remember where
he's... oh, Tampa, FL. Julia says that when you have no one else to turn to, you
turn to God. Billy sounds rehearsed when he says that there's no birthday cake
after 25 in Hollywood. Joel says he doesn't have any unattractive friends....
FAIL. Julia takes pride in what she looks like... that's not vain at all. PASS.
Billy is humbled by a spell of acne. PASS.
But then something comes out that may be a game
changer. When Julia was 17, she received a ticket for public intoxication not
soon after she received the title of Miss Teen Texas. She was so embarrassed
that she ended up giving up the title. It was on CNN. It was on Court TV. She
had the whole world in her hands... and on her case.
Jess says: Joel was very authentic, but has no
modesty. Julia is incredibly likeable, but she sounds like she's on the beauty
pageant stage. Billy did a good interview, but he sounds rehearsed.
Next comes Matthew Rolston's shoot: who we are at
our purest form... with oil included. Joel's first, and he brags about the whole
process... and then Julia.... Go Julia go... Go! Go! Naked... Naked Julia
naked... And finally, Billy breathing hard.
And now, the reveals. Billy looks like the
Incredible Hulk. He says that he's learned some lessons that will make him a
better person, and he doesn't see how he's lost. Joel... also looks like
Incredible Hulk. He didn't come here for second place. He came to win. Julia...
looks like She-Hulk. She calls this the most fantastic opportunity. She sees
this as a second chance.
And we have the crying... with black tears...
Yuck.
The winner of this challenge... Joel! Billy! And
Julia! You all won! They couldn't pick a winner! That's the good news.
But the bad news... All three of them will have
to meet up in the Hall of Beauty. And thus ends the competition.
But before we head over to the Hall of Beauty,
there's one more note...
"This is your chance to see things through our
eyes... Your judges"
What could that possibly mean? The note also
comes with this... a plate of chocolates. Seven on top of each other in the
middle, and one on each side of it.
Oh yeah, and behind the note is something that is
easy to figure out.. HEAD DOWNSTAIRS. See, kids, it's not that hard to figure
out.
They head downstairs to a room that says,
clearly, "DO NOT ENTER." Julia... enters... "And wow, did things change." It's
the Spy Room! Vanessa appears on the screens and lets the final three know of
the secret twist of this competition.
So the question remains... How will he react when
they hear of the twist of this competition? Billy? "It really was an eye opener
to what this situation was really all about?" Julia? "Maybe when I started this
competition, I was some of those things (that stereotype pageant people), but
I'm not now and I'm still happy." And Joel? "There's no way that gives you a
realistic view of who I am as a person. I don't understand why the clips are
trying to make me out to be some negative monster when I'm not."
You have one last night to prove yourselves to be
a beautiful person... inside and out.
The next day... the final day... the beauties
head to...
THE HALL OF BEAUTY
Joel is cocky, arrogant, but also vulnerable and
passionate. He needs to be more humble. Julia is beautiful and just coasted
through the competition until we really saw her shine today. Will she continue
being open or being honest? Billy... is where he's started. A great person...
and a great-looking person.
So who is America's most beautiful person? One
has more inner beauty. One has more outer beauty... and one is the entire
package.
Julia says that she's not the strongest, but she
found a real person behind the permanent smile, that wall she's built up her
entire life. Joel says that he's the best mix of inner and outer beauty. He owns
his flaws now. Billy says that he's been missing confidence, but he has found
it. He also wants to help other people find the beauty in other people.
Remember... at stake is $100,000 and a spread in
the People "Most Beautiful People" issue...
Coming in third place... Billy. He's grown up a
lot. It's a little disappointing at first... but he doesn't see it as losing.
And then there were two. Vanessa Minnillo, it is
all yours...
"America's most beautiful person... is Julia."
CONGRATULATIONS to Julia Anderson, the winner of
True Beauty! Joel says he felt he could do everything he could to win, and in
the end, he has no regrets.
So how did Julia come to be America's Most
Beautiful Person? She was the only one to pass all eight hidden challenges:
honesty... charity... compassion... consideration... teamwork... decency...
loyalty... and modesty.
Julia? "I did it. I found myself."
And that's the show. Hopefully we took some
things from this about beauty and the human form. Just remember the words of
Christina Aguilera. "I am beautiful, no matter what they say. Words won't bring
me down." As long as you're true to yourself... and you like... no... LOVE
yourself... that's all that matters.
Because, after all.... True beauty comes from
within. Stay beautiful, friends.
