"The Finale (or 'Bottom of
the 9th, 2 Outs and the Bases Are Loaded')" - October 5
It's the season finale of
So You Think You Can Dance. Ashle Dawson, Melody
Lacayanga, Nick Lazzarini and Jamile McGee are vying for
$100,000 in cash, A 1-yr. stay in a NYC apartment and
priceless exposure.
We start out by showing you highlights of what happened
last week. Then, the 4 dancers introduced Alex Da Silva
performing a mambo with a female dancer. That had to be
the case when Lauren Sanchez, our host, wore an
appropiate dress for the routine. They both did a little
swerving and Alex did a romantic move with Lauren's arm.
They both did some arm & torso turns, and Lauren did a
1/2 bend while Alex showed off his solo prowess and used
magic to rise him up. Lauren, however, finshed the song
with a split and some leg work to end it. Boy, she's
feeling a bit tired, but we must move on. We go now to a
video from Nashville, TN. (Go Titans!) where we find the
Gaylord Opryland Resort dance to Nancy Sinatra's "Boots"
(Which by the way, is covered recently by Jessica
Simpson) complete with hotel bellhops, desk clerks,
chefs, beds, and of course, cowboy dancing.
We go back now LIVE to Los Angeles, where we get moments
of dancers where some were good and others were not
good. We've seen 1 jiggly dancer in Chi-town, and some
belly dancers in New York, but we get a dancer who
argued with Nigel for being masculine. Anthony Bryant is
here to take the stage doing a lyrical routine. He used
a ribbon, tossed it up past the lights and back down to
his hand. He tossed it out, but did some leg spins and
artistic showmanship. Nigel said nothing and waved his
little ribbon, but Anthony gave him and the crowd thanks
for coming back to the show.
The Final 4 will now take the stage for their best
perfomances starting with Nick. Nick always had to pick
Kamilah most of the way, but perfected 9 styles with 4
partners. Tonight, he'll reunite with Kamilah to do a
Disco routine to "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)" by
Sylvester. Throughout the routine, They did some body
spins, with Kamilah doing a floor spin, windmill moves
and an upside-down hang to end the song. For last words,
Brian said Nick set a goal to win this thing, Mia said
Nick shown America that he is slick, Nigel said he's a
great technician, Mary said he's personality & technique
into 1 package and Dan said he's proven that he can do
anything. But anything is possible as we head for our
next dancer.
Ashle has picked Jamile 2 times, and Blake for much of
the competition, but she pulled out 11 styles in total.
Ashle will now reunite with Blake to do "Jazz Machine"
by Black Machine. Both did some arm pumps, great samba
work and a floor spin by Ashle for some gravity. Now to
the judges. Brian said Ashle never let us down, Mia said
Ashle has matured as a woman, Nigel said her "X-factor"
was missing, Mary said she's sophisticated & elegant,
and Dan said she's the hardest worker on this show.
Ashle works hard whether solo or with a partner, but we
gotta break for the next segment.
Taking 4th place....with 8.8%...and is out of the
contest....Ashle Dawson! She get some roses...aww....and
a tribute video to go with that. Now we go to our next
dancer.
Jamile is up next. A hip-hopper who's known for his
amazing solos, was partnered differently 7 times. Most
of them were ballroom. He survived the solo round only 4
times and outlasted the competition. This week, he'll
dance with his famous partner, Destini Rogers for a
hip-hop routine. "Toma" by Pitbull feat. Ying Yang Twinz
is cued up and they danced well. Jamile did a dog-like
pose to begin, but Destini did some moves with a butt
shake and a split shake to wow the crowd. On to the
judges: Brian said he totally brought it, Mia said he is
the mack daddy of style, Nigel said he's's got
performance, personality & popularity, Mary said he's
the new poster child for ballroom, and Dan said he's
just as good. But was he good enough to win the title?
Melody will round it out. She's been with Blake, danced
with Allan, and cut a rug with Ryan, Craig, and even
Nick. She perfected disco for some time, and now she'll
do Broadway with Blake. The song is "All That Jazz" by
Ute Lemper, and throughout, they did head spins and arm
pumps between the lyrics, and Melody showed off her
broadway prowess. For last words, Brian said she was
born a superstar, and Mia said she's got fire & talent.
The rest chimed in their comments as well. Melody can be
the clear winner, but the other 3 might wanna win this
thing.
They're a hip-hop bunch called the "Groovaloos." Why are
they here, you ask? Well, you'll see. They're a bunch of
breakdancers who can do tricks with their own hats, and
they're doing it as they took the stage. 1 rapper came
in for his solo, and then they did poppin' & lockin, and
some leg work all in unison. I might one day see them,
but I wanna see who the winner was.
3 dancers left, who's next to go?....taking a bronze
medal....with 24.9%...and is gone for good...Jamile
McGee! He gets a bouqet of flowers, and a tribute video
as he takes a spacewalk home.
Our next segment is like a fairy tale, you see....Once
upon a time, FOX asked dancers if they could be on a
reality show, and they said yes in LA, NYC and Chicago.
Some made it in, others didn't, and after that, the top
50 was formed, and survived the Hollywood round with
bailouts, bruises and being in the top 24. After that,
they survived the fate and only 16 became sweet, while
the rest got sour. The Sweet 16 took on all comers,
whether solo or with a partner. One by one, lyrical
people, tap dancers, hip-hoppers and ballroom people
perfected every floor spin, leg lift, leg spins and
everything else until 4 were left. Now let's see who
living "happily ever after" in NYC.
Before we reveal the winner, we get a video revealing
that they're best friends, (remember the LA auditions
episode?), made the sweet 16. Both did dance each other
whether Broadway, Disco or Lyrical. (If this were BB6,
that might be a different story.) Now, let's see who
won.
The silver medal recipient had 28.6%...while the gold
medal recipient had 37.7%....who broke the tape on the
FINISH LINE?....the dancer....that has the moves....is
going to be....none other....than...this season's
champion.....................................Nick
Lazzarini! Congrats go out to Nick and as for Melody,
don't worry, she gets the silver medal for being on the
show. Nick takes a victory dance doing "Pardon Me" by
Incubus. He did leg spins, twists and a few jumps to
finally answer the question FOX gave: "So You Think You
Can Dance?" As we end it, confetti is shot up all over
the stage and the other 15 dancers come to congratulate
him. So, remember, the next time you're at a birthday
party and you yell to the crowd..."Look what I can
do!"...you might be the lucky one to answer the
question: So You Think You Can Dance? I'm Pierre Kelly
for GSNN saying goodnight, friends. |
