DAY 7: COACH MONKEY GET UP, GET IDOL

Marty is leading Jimmy J., Yve and Tyrone on a wild monkey chase. And Coach tried talking to the the primates in grunts (which, him being a pro football coach, isn't that big a stretch, really). But the thing they're actually looking for is the fruit the monkeys are eating. They manage to get a few, but they're better at fishing with the equipment we won in the last Challenge. Marty is still none too happy about having a "celebrity" in their tribe as NO ONE - so he thinks - is willing to vote him off. He and Jill strategize about the 3I (Individual Immunity Idol) they found after the challenge.

The tribe comes together for a meal...and Marty reveals the key pendant that is the 3I. He says that this'll do the tribe well post-merge...and, immediately, everyone in the tribe assumes he means that someone in Espada will get it when the time comes. Marty just used this as a ploy to gain favor in the tribe over Coach; in the end, HE'LL be the one to use it. Jimmy T. believes it...but Tyrone is suspicious.

DAY 8: DANNY BOY, THE TORCH SNUFFER IS CALLING...

While Jan runs a "dry cleaning" service over the campfire, everyone else is getting up for the day...well, not everyone. Dan only got two hours sleep last night...AND he had knee surgery. He's feeling VERY slow today. This is what he signed up for, though, so he'll muddle through. Yve knows Dan's struggling and just hopes he can pull it together for the next...

REWARD/IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: WE WENT TO A GARDEN PARTY...

No haka from the Shannon-less Younger Tribe this time around. Time for the next combo challenge. Bring ten colored barrels from all over Challenge Beach to your area and then stack them on boards in a 4-3-2-1 position. Then, one person at a time, toss sand bags onto the tops of the barrels. First to have all ten barrels sanded gets the Immunity Idol...AND the "Survivor Garden Set"(TM), replete with fruit, spices, oils and an herbal garden.

Medallion of Power time. Wanna start with two barrels already in place and properly sandbagged, young ones? You'll have to give the Medallion to Espada if you do. La Flur passes, though; they're confident they can win without it. So it'll be Even Stephen this time. Coach, of course, makes suggestions as to who gets what barrel...and we prepare for the start.

Survivors ready...GO!!

Eighteen Survivors rush out into the beach and roll out the barrels into their section (of course, one each has to go back for the tenth one). La Flur stacks them pretty quickly, but Espada keeps pace. With all 20 barrels in place, it's time for the sand bags. Tyrone, the hot shot from the previous Challenge, gets the nod to shoot first. Benry starts for the Younger Tribe...and he nails the first one. Tyrone goes on a tear, pulling us ahead 5-2. La Flur switches out of Chase briefly, but Benry comes back after the Espada run.

Benry's time to roll..and Tyrone is hitting bricks. Jimmy T. begs in...by Ty keeps going...and missing. Benry ties and then surpasses us...and Jimmy T. begs in again. Ty tells the fisherman to "be quiet". It's up to 9-6, La Flur...and Jimmy tells Coach he's becoming wasted talent. After Ty finally hits our 7th, he's reeled in and replaced with Jimmy T...who nails very first shot. But it's all for naught as Benry lobs a bag for the furthest barrel...

...and NAILS it! LA FLUR WINS REWARD AND IMMUNITY, 10-8!

The Younger Tribe takes the Idol and takes the reward (which has the clue for the 3I in its confines) back to their beach. And we have an afternoon to decide who's getting booted.

AFTERNOON 8: TIME TO FIRE THE COACH?

Jill is disheartened over the loss...but others are fuming. Jimmy T. is talking to Coach like he was a first-round-picked QB being benched. Tyrone says the reason he made over 50 shots before he finally passed it off to Jimmy was, as Herm Edwards would say, "You play to win the game", not to let everyone "touch the ball". The argument passes between Ty and Jimmy, with Coach trying to mediate. And Marty...he couldn't be happier!

Coach and Marty talk about Dan's inability to move in the morning...but what he REALLY wants is for Coach to hit the showers of this game so that HE can reign supreme. He goes around to the others to get their opinion. Jill's all "Whatever...I don't care"; she's obviously Marty's b***h. Dan likes the idea of "blindsiding Jimmy Johnson". Jimmy T. is on the same page. Tyrone...not so much; he'll stay neutral for now. HOLLY's feeling the strain and lets Jane know...but Jane doesn't think she's more of a weak spot as Dan and his bum knee.

Coach...he's all but CERTAIN he's gone...though Yve and Jane beg to differ as they fish. Coach says it's all right; all he wants is for someone from Espada to win the game. This has been a tough go for Jimmy J., but he'll have to see what happens at...

TRIBAL COUNCIL: TIME TO VOTE OFF...THE WEAKEST LINK

To the Missionary of Doom march the elder tribe. We talk about the Challenge, what went wrong and what COULD'VE been done to prevent this from happening. Jill admits that Coach seems to be the de facto leader of the tribe...but Coach disagrees. Holly thinks Coach is good at boosting morale pre-Challenges. The two Jimmys haven't sat down and chatted one-on-one in eight days (which shocks Uncle Jeff to no end). Tyrone rolls his eyes when Jimmy T. says Coach thinks Jimmy's a threat to his leadership.

Jill spills the strategy of the tribe: keep it strong against the younger La Flurs. Dan doesn't feel he's the weakest player, despite being watched for weakness by everyone. Jimmy T. confirms Jill's earlier statement that Espada wants to have the strongest tribe. And when Uncle Jeff asks everyone if THEY think they're the weakest member...only Jimmy Johnson, the eldest of the tribe, admits to being ONE of the weakest. Marty says that the goal of this Council is not JUST to go with strongest...but to realize that there are MANY facets to the game...and they have to play ALL those facets.

Did Marty and/or Coach just swallow their own feet with what they said tonight?.

It's time to vote. Into the open confessional goes Espada - Jane, Marty, Yve, Jimmy T. ("You never listen to my input, Coach. Go long."), Dan, Jill, Jimmy J. ("Daniel"), Holly and Tyrone - scratching down names on the parchment. Uncle Jeff reads the votes from the cistern:

Jimmy Johnson...

Daniel...

Jimmy J...

Coach Jimmy...

J.J...

Jimmie J!

The coach has been sacked in a unanimous vote! But no hard feelings. His last words to the tribe before heading back to "FOX NFL Sunday"?: "Win a million bucks!"

Uncle Jeff wonders who in Espada will step up to fill Coach's shoes as leader. Has the tribe been solidified...or torn asunder? Only time will tell.
