Laut Family Last week, the Gutierrez family came together for a little block party game show and brought all of America with them. Unfortunately, they only make $77,500, a few TVs, and a trip to go see the Jonas Brothers. But now the dream arrives (quite literally) on the doorstep of the Laut family of Lakewood, CA. Mom Rebecca's a teacher. Dad Ron's a football coach. Big brother Aaron loves his reptiles. Middle kid Megan's a bit of a slob. And sitting in the audience tonight, little brother Cody, who's a bit too shy to appear on national television. But that's okay, because his family has a shot at winning fabulous prizes and boatloads of cash. All they have to know is... each other. Round 1: Mom (Rebecca) Rebecca's playing for a family vacation. Just so happens that they have one on offer for her! It's a Mexican Riviera cruise from Norwegian Cruise Line (the HOME of freestyle cruising), and it's hers if she can rise to the first four of our challenges. $2500: We have four umpires on stage, one real one and three "ump-personators". Pick the real one after they all say "You're out!" Rebecca goes with #3... and that's the right one. $5000: In your home gym, there's an inspirational quote on the bench press. All you have to do is complete it. The quote is, "The harder you work..." She guesses "... the harder it is to quit." And that's good! $7500: Deliver a couple of packages to your neighbors, the Geiers and the Finks. Their names are on the packages, all you have to do is match a name to a face. It helps matters that they're both in the audience tonight. She nails both of them for the money. $10,000: Cody wrote a recipe on what a mother should be. It's in the kitchen. All you have to do is remember that it takes 100 pounds of something. What is it? Rebecca guesses "love"... and that's a sweep! FAMILY BANK: $25,000 + Mexican Riviera cruise Round 2: Megan Megan makes it no secret that she's a big fan of "Hannah Montana". Feelings are unknown about the other hit Disney series "Wizards of Waverly Place", but she's going to go to tapings of BOTH if she sweeps the round. This comes from both JD and a phone message from Miley Cyrus. $2500: Mom and Dad are gone back to their room. They're in their bed (at 8p in the evening? Will someone please think of the children!). All you have to do is guess on which side of the bed dad sleeps on. She goes with Right... and that's right! $5000: Megan & mom love to go get manis and pedis. Which perfectly pedicured foot belongs to her? Here's a hint... it isn't #4.. that's a dude. Megan goes with #2... And she's right! $7500: Cody ran for class president. Which of the
following was his campaign slogan? She goes with C... and that's right! Before we continue, JD has an offer. Megan can either go for the final question to win the prize... OR she can lock in the prize for $10,000... but Megan won't budge. JD lowers it to $5000. SOLD. $10,000: You have 60 seconds to go into your messy messy closet and find your favorite stuffed dog. She comes back to the stage with it, so she's got the money AND the trip! FAMILY BANK: $45,000 + Mexican Riviera cruise + HM/WoWP tickets Round 3: Ron. Ron loves his ride... but he'd love to have a new one. We have a new one... a Ford F-150 Supercab, fully loaded. $2500: Ron also loves his lawn. We get two patches of grass. Which is HIS? He goes with #1... and he's right! $5000: What is the name of Cody's favorite blanket? Ron goes with "Old Friend"... and that's an old friend indeed. $7500: Ron apparently likes Matthew McConaghey, because we have four pictures of Ron with his shirt off. One of them was taken on his honeymoon. Ron goes for the third... and he's right! So far, he's three for three... but he gets an offer to buy the truck and lock it in no matter what for... $25,000. That's almost half the stash. OR he could play it through. He wants... to play for it. $10,000: Your three kids were all born on what day of the week? Ron goes with Tuesday... and it was Monday. So the truck goes back into the.. uhh.. bigger truck. But at least he's juiced the pot some more. FAMILY BANK: $60,000 + Mexican Riviera cruise + HM/WoWP tickets Last up is... Round 4: Aaron $2500: Megan says your scariest pet is... "Toad." Nope, it was your gecko. Sacked for a loss. $5000: Aaron likes mom's salsa. One of these four bowls is loaded with the stuff. Which one? Aaron goes with #1... and that's hers, alright! $7500: The family is a big fan of Ohio State and watched the 2004 Fiesta Bowl. All you have to do is remember the score from that game. She goes with Ohio State 32, Miami (Florida)
28... CLOSE. It was Ohio State 31, Miami 24. Unfortunately, she can't do it. FAMILY BANK: $65,000 + Mexican Riviera cruise + HM/WoWP package The money is theirs no matter what... UNLESS they decide to roll the dice. Rebecca's brought up for one final task. She can go for double the bank if she can match two out of the three family members. If she's right, the family wins $130,000. If not, they still go back across the street with $65,000. But if she decides to go all out for the $250,000, she has to match all three family members. If not, all the money is GONE. We won't touch the prizes. Those are yours for keeps. Rebecca... will play for double. - Ron: which of your three kids is most like you? The Lauts return with their responses. Rebecca wants to match the guys. Had she gone with Megan, she would've said reading... and she would've been right. Woops. So it's now up to the guys. She thought that Aaron's favorite trophy was his football trophy... and that's right! One down, one to go. Rebecca thinks that Cody's more like Ron... but she locks in with a guess of Aaron.... ... and it IS Aaron! The Lauts take home $130,000! Back next week with another family, another $250,000, and another instance when... opportunity knocks. |
