One World - Part 2
September 30

Last week, we met the 12 young artists who are going to compete on the same stage for 15 weeks straight with some of the biggest names in music for one recording contract. No one gets eliminated and everyone will grow from the shared experience. But each road has to have a beginning...

.... and it begins with the cast's first trip to the studio, blindfolded... then not. It's taken us two weeks to build what you're about to experience.

Now that you've met the cast, let's meet the mentors...

- Vocal producer David "DQ" Quinones
- Alex Larson, who's choreographed the likes of Beyonce and the Spice Girls
- Paul Mirkovich, a musical director for Christina Aguilera, Pink, and Janet Jackson

They all want to accentuate the natural talent of the group. And joining them... a wide array of superstars. You'll find out who in a moment.

All 12 of our artists will perform a song a week in front of an audience. Sometimes it'll be an original, sometimes a medley, sometimes it's something you'll write. But it will all be a challenge leading up to the final challenge.

First, though, all of you will be singing a song written especially for this show... the show's theme music, "One World". (Fun Fact: the song is written by DQ and Nikola Bedingfield... yes, Daniel & Natasha's sister)

DAY 1: VOCAL REHEARSAL

We're joined by a fourth mentor, Debra Byrd. Those of you who watch "that show" will recognize her as the house vocal coach. The group gets to brainstorm their own ideas to be included into the song.

Next, a trip to the hangout room, where the group hangs out... you know, in between room trashings. We all have to start somewhere. There are also musical instruments to rehearse on or just let loose on.

DAY 2: DANCE REHEARSAL

Alex calls this the beginning of their career. It'll be all about having patience with him. It's going to be a lot to learn in a little bit of time. For some, it'll come easy. For others, not so much. It's hard to keep focus, because people are going to want to do their own thing.

We learn that Hailey isn't a dancer. It's good to have people who know what they're doing showing you how. Michael... another person who can't move to save his life. But that's okay, because Alex is going to stop you when you do something wrong. It's going to be hard, but you're going to be better for it.

At the TruMoo cafe, the group meets its FIFTH mentor (C-Note: how many people does it take to watch after a dozen teenagers anyway?)... someone who's been where you are and has sold millions of records worldwide. Oh, and she judged the first season of "America's Got Talent". Welcome Brandy to the stage! I find it a little bit hilarious that they're fawning over her when she hit her musical peak 15 years ago.

They give her... a proper welcome. And Brandy... cries. Awww. Meanwhile, they perform their audition pieces from last week. The lesson to take from all of this... Know who you are as an artist AND as a person.

Next, they're going to write their own original song. It's going to be a long, arduous process that blends what they want to be, who they idolize, and who Paul thinks they can be.

DAY 3: VOCAL REVIEW

In the classroom, the group decides to rewrite some of the lyrics to reflect who they are and where they are. Brandy likes melody on top of melody, and there is nothing short of space for it. Another lesson imparted: the best person you can be is yourself. Sort of relating to the original lesson.

DAY 4: A SURPRISE...

Each singer is going to get an in-ear impression to be fitted for your personal headset. So you can hear yourself.

Then... it's just waiting it out until we get to...

DAY 7: FINAL DRESS REHEARSAL

We are six hours outside of showtime. If this great and glorious experiment is to happen, it's gotta happen here and now

Two hours later... it's everyone on their own while Alex has a moment with creative. Some of the kids are beginning to doubt that they will be able to pull this off. They need more time. They CAN'T have that time. In two hours, this studio will be full, and this song will be performed.

But will it be performed perfectly?

The answers to these questions and more... right now. It's TIME FOR SHOWTIME!

.... and it's time for a backing track, apparently. Hey, it's fantasy.

That song, "One World", will be available for download at the website, MyMajorsAndMinors.com/tv. It's their first venture together. And if they execute well, more ventures will follow. And we'll follow their ventures from beginning to end.
