"Finals:
Washington-St. Louis/Stanford/UAB" - November 18
It is an honor and a
privilege as the NC delegate to GSNN to welcome you back
to
my neck of the woods, Raleigh, North Carolina, for week
two of Jeopardy!'s 2005 College Championship. We started
with 15, whittled it to nine, and finally, we have the
final three. At the end of
Friday's show, there will only be one. That one will win
a nice trophy, an even nicer check, $100,000, and an
even nicer than that berth in the next Tournament of Champions for a
quarter-mill. No more wild cards or second chances this
go around... It's win... or go home.
The second place
winner is guaranteed at least $50,000 and
third-place is ensured $25,000. Any and all monies, as always,
depend on how far the player moves up the
bracket.
Tonight,
the deciding game...

Daily Double: $1000
Partying. Jayanth ($5400 over Nico's $1000 and Adam's $2800) bets $1600. The clue:

"What is a right... err, vent?" Correct
response: What is a heart part? Jayanth drops to $3800.

Adam - $3800
Double Jeopardy!
categories: Lesser-Known Explorers, I Need More Cowbell,
Math; Gold, Silver, Bronze; Fictional Women, Foreign
Words & Phrases
Daily Double #1: $1600
Lesser-Known Explorers. Jayanth ($5000 over Adam's $4200 and
Nico's $4000)
fronts $2500. The clue: Hernando de Alarcon sailed up
this river a few months before Cardenas made his "grand"
discovery. Jayanth's response: "What is
the Colorado River?" Correct
for $7500.
Daily Double #2:
$1600
Math. Nico ($8800 over Jayanth's $7500 and Adam's $4600) fronts $2200. The clue:
the per in miles per hour signifies this math process.
Nico's response: "What is division?" Right on for $11,000.
End of round:
Jayanth - $8300
Nico - $14,600
Adam - $10,200
Okay, let's
think about this... The magic number is $8600. Nico wins
if he bets below that and Adam bets everything. Adam
wins if he bets more than that and Nico bets everything
AND loses on the Final. Jayanth... can't win.
Final Jeopardy!
category: World Capitals. The clue: Pizarro founded this
city whose present name is from a Quechua word meaning
"talker". Correct response: What is Lima?
Jayanth's
question: What is Lima? (RIGHT) Wager: $8300.

Adam may have
won this game, but it was not enough...

The man from
Stanford has done it! That gives him $100,000 and it
also gives Stanford its second Jeopardy! College
Championship. But props to all 15 players for giving
it their best shot, and a special thanks to ABC11 in
Durham for bringing Jeopardy! to our neck of the
woods. |
For now, though,
we wait until the next TOC to see if he can add $250,000
to that. |
