Finals: Berkeley/TAMU/Princeton - Part 2
February 21

What started with 15 collegians from the US and Canada ends today and tomorrow with the final three in the finals of the Jeopardy! College Championship. At stake: the honor of their institutions of higher learning, the glory of a nation, bragging rights, $100,000, a guaranteed slot in the next Tournament of Champions, a trophy, and the title of Jeopardy!'s 2014 College Champion - a title that comes with immortality on the trophy that sits in the Jeopardy! Hall of Fame.

Will it be the lady from Princeton who upset the favorite? Or two others who kept it close in their semifinal matches? The answers to these questions could be worth $100,000 for the winner, $50,000 for the first runner-up, and $25,000 for the second runner-up.

We are 30 minutes away from a big money moment.

Daily Double #1: $1600 Put It There. Kevin has $4600 to Tucker's $3600 and Terry's $5000. Kevin bets $2000 on this: TARP programs: this Cabinet department. "What is the Department of Defense?" No, it's the Treasury, leaving him with $2600.

Video Daily Double #2: $2000 Figuring Out the Universe. After Terry gets up to $9000 thanks to a line ruling, Kevin gets to play with his $7000. He's going for it! Here's Sarah... "Doing physics experiments deep in the earth protects the results from being contaminated by these rays, from the Greek for 'universe'." "What is gamma?" No, it's cosmic, leaving him with zero.

At the end of Double Jeopardy!...

Kevin Tucker Terry

With no money to play with in Final Jeopardy!, it means that Kevin is pretty much out of it with $25,000.

Tucker and Terry are deadlocked right now. The magic number for Terry.... $8401. She can bet that much and still win it provided that Tucker doubles up and is correct. But she has to be right as well.

Final Jeopardy! category: THE BRITISH EMPIRE

1713's TREATY OF UTRECHT CONCLUDING THE WAR OF THE SPANISH SUCCESSION GRANTED THIS SMALL 2.3 SQUARE-MILE AREA TO GREAT BRITAIN

Correct response: what is Gibraltar?

Terry's response: what is Gibraltar? CORRECT. Wager: $5000. Total: $18,000.
Tucker's response: what is Hong Kong? CORRECT. Wager: $13,200. Total: $0.

All Tucker had to do was be correct... and he wasn't.
