In the world's ultimate talent search, where the eyes of a nation are upon the best undiscovered singers in the country, where the audience has the power to make or break you, and where a million-dollar recording contract is on the line, there is only one rule: If you can sing it, bring it.

Round of 4 Redux: Hits from Today and Yesterday
May 2

Last week, a twist in the tale as no singer was eliminated. Last night, the past became the present. Tonight, the future grows dim for one contestant, as we choose the three who will be given trips to a hero's welcome next week. All this, and Season 7 winner David Cook, last night's mentor Harry Connick Jr., and some guy named Will.I.Am, you may have heard of him, rock out. It's results time!

First, a salute to the upcoming release of "The Great Gatsby", the top 4 sing "Crazy in Love"... 20s style. My advice: read the book.

FORD FIESTA MOVEMENT MISSION: design Fiestas inspired by the music you love. Kree and Angie are in a country pop car. Amber and Candice have a rock & soul car.

Now we go to the Jimmy Iovine post-mortem...

ANGIE: Had the opprortunity to shut down the competition. "Diamonds" wasn't the song it needed to be. "Someone to Watch Over Me" wasn't "special enough."

AMBER: Last night, Amber sounded karaoke, a great singer with the wrong song (on "Just Give Me A Reason"). "My Funny Valentine" was crushed. A lot of ground to make up in the voting, though.

CANDICE: She did a magnificent job on BOTH songs, standing head and shoulders above the rest.

KREE: Hasn't lived up to her full potential. Did well, but the others redeemed themselves.

Let's go back to Season 7, when it went down to the battle of the Davids... the David with the Stratocaster prevailed. He ended up cutting two albums. In between gigs, he's racing for Race for Hope to benefit brain cancer awareness. Tonight, he sings the first single from his third album, "Laying Me Low".... IT'S DAVID COOK!

Next up, another tune from the soundtrack of "The Great Gatsby".... and his new album "#willpower". Singing "Bang Bang", here's The Voice UK coach WILL.I.AM! Even when you're watching Idol, you can't escape "The Voice".

#throwbackthursday. Constantine Maroulis parlayed his time on Idol into acting, appearing in "Rock of Ages" and "Jekyll & Hyde" (C-Note: SAW IT.)

Next up, "Every Man Should Know"... that HARRY CONNICK JR. has a new album out by that name. Here's the title track.

Okay, time to go home. SERIOUS LIGHTS, SERIOUS MUSIC!

The three people who will return for the Wheel of Death next week...

.... ANGIE MILLER.... Beverly, Massachusetts is waiting for you!

... CANDICE GLOVER!... Going to Carolina in her mind!

That means Kree Harrison and Amber Holcomb are your bottom two tonight. Both are heading home, but only one will come back to compete.

KREE HARRISON.... You're going to Texas!

... so is Amber, But she's staying there. She sings us out with "I Believe In You and Me".

Next week... We spin the Wheel of Death... and we will have your FINAL TWO.
